  1. Thanks for all your hard work with the 4500NEX.  I've posted a few posts in the forum about the 4500NEX.  So i have a newer 4500NEX I purchased in November.  So I have warranty until November 2021.  However after hearing all the boot loops, I'm concerned with my unit failing after the warranty period is over. So me being proactive, I'd like to have a SD ready for the day when (not if) my 4500 fails.  In the meantime, i'd like to help the cause.  Because I have my 4500Nex running with factory SD, is there anyway I can back up my factory SD so we have an actual 4500 image not a 4400?  I've tried a testmode using USB1 and searching for the proper way to backup my internal SD but it seems like no one says it for the 4500 unit?  Anyways, if you can help that would be appreciate.  Thanks again.

Hey @GettinOld - Anyone volunteer to help you rip your SD card? If not, I could walk you through it.

(I wish I'd done it earlier... my Pioneer has finally gone down, and I'm searching for a 4500 image without much luck.)

I see a few responded but if you would be able to help me step by step that would be great. Then I’d be able to help otherwise that are in need of a functional 4500 image.  Cheers!

  3. Hi there,

I just purchased a brand new w4500NEX and love it.  After reading some of these posts and the dreadful internal SD image failing, I'm a little concerned.  I don't want an expensive fix in the future so can someone direct me as to make  a backup image of my internal SD?  I could open up the unit and pull the SD and use my laptop to image it, but if I can using a testmode and use a USB or using the external SD slot that would save me about three hours!!!  Step by step instructions anywhere??  I can also load my image so I can help anyone who has a bricked 4500 as well.  Karma.

  4. I'm considering an update as well.  I'm always concerned with the nav maps and how are the units with a updates.  I REALLY do not want to shell out $200.00 every couple of years to update the maps.  My city is always growing in the suburbs and we have a lot of projects underway with new routes, bus lanes etc all to be completed in the next five years.  I haven't been checking out the NEX forum so I don't know if the NEX's are easy to hack to upgrade the maps?

  5. Hi forum users,

I have the x940bt and I've been using the Bluetooth and my iphone since I go the unit back in 2013.  So the Bluetooth registered list is lengthy and I don't have the phones anymore.  Is there a way to de-register the not needed connections?  My new iphone has been registered but when I saw the list, i have 5 or six other devices listed that I don't even have anymore?  I just want to know if there is a way to remove the unwanted devices from the list.  I don't see any delete or remove buttons.

    Thanks,

  6. I have the latest firmware, 5.1 and 2015 maps. I Decided to install my CD-IV202NAVI kit and as long as the module is powered up, i get a nag screen that says my parking brake sensor is connected wrong blah blah blah... If I disconnect the power to the module, it goes away and works like it always did. It's like the new module can see that I'm bypassing the parking brake sense wire. By the way, I'm using the mute wire to pin 1 of the white harness and grounding both the mute wire and parking wire like I was instructed to. (Net install instructions!). Worked for years.

Also, it seems that my iPhone 6S and the vga lighting converting through the 202NAVI module doesn't work. I get a blank screen and no audio through the cables. Works fine through BT. (No video obviously through BT.)

    Any help would be appreciated!

  7. So, I tried and was unsuccessful... I still have the incompatible SD error... I'll try to download the zip file again and use another unzip program to see if that's the issue. By the way, has anyone actually try to update this file to  940BT sucessfully?

UPDATE: I tried and tried again... This time I got to 2% so once I passed 1% I thought "Yay", then it wouldn't go pass 2% and got the error again...

So I then proceeded to use the TESTMODE and delete the \USER\SYSTEM\Download\StartKnd.log. and rebooted my HU.  Except... There is no maps!  Therefore, I have to get his HU running again.

Any help again will be appreciated.

  8. I also checked out the protocol/standard for microSD.  microSD has a max of 2GB, SDHC is 2gb or more.. Then there is SDXC which is 64, 128 etc.  The class however is the speed at which the data is transferred.  My CLASS10 min write at 10mb/s, I just found a class 4 (4mb/s) and i'll try that.  If not, I'll try to unzip with a different software.

    Thanks

  9. Ok, I'll go to malwart and get a cheapy 4GB microSD except i checked online and I couldnt find a non HC card??  Is it even possible to find and buy a non HC microSD any more?... If they don't have a 4GB, 8GB should work right?

I did a full format (windows) FAT32 and it worked...

  10. Hi RonS,

Its on a HIGH-SPEED 8GB microSD HC card...  Should I buy another 4GB?  Non high speed?  What kind does the real Navteq Update SD have?  Maybe I'll match that!

Just to confirm, the newest links update should work for my X940BT?  The UPDATE, FIRMWARE and CARDINFO.dat in the root dir of the SD. I did not transfer the Compatibility.txt file.  I did have a few issues with downloading the .zip file... It downloaded about 850MB then said it was download completed.  I try a few times and then finally it I downloaded the full 2.45GB.  I thought maybe it capped at 1GB per zip file but eventually the full zip file downloaded.  There there another link I can use or can you send it PM.  This would confirm that I have the complete download...

Thanks for the prompt response and I really appreciate the help.!

  11. Hi Guys, its been awhile! I downloaded RonS's newer units link and unzipped and put the UPDATE, FIRMWARE, and CardInfo.CIF to the root of a freshly formatted FAT32 SD just as instructed...  I have a X940BT and teh update starts but after 1%, if halts and an error pops up that says "Incompatible SD Card, Please enter another SD" or something like that.  Now that my HU is in update mode, the error keeps coming up when I turn on the unit.  Any suggestions??  I read the whole post and it seems some had teh same issue but it also semms that it was rectified and RonS link would work??  Any help would be appreciated!

  12. Or they won't roll out an upodate for the x940 at all is what I'm scared about!  Pioneer likes to stop supporting the older models like they did with my F-Series.  Once the iOS5 was rolled out, it stopped playing video on the unit from the iPhone.  There was a debate whether or not it was Apple or Pioneer to update the firmware and it should have been Pioneer.  I spoke to them and told me that they will not be supporting that issue on the F series and I should step up and purchase a new unit after a year and a half if I wanted the video to work??  They make a decent product, but crap for support...

  13. Yeah, I know but can't you break the files into 4 seperate files and I can put them back together? We can call it the Humpty Dumpty email! (sorry, cheesy)

And you cannot download via torrent??? I know mine is set to seed this right now.

Wow! Sorry about that! I found out my issue! It's now seeding! Thanks!
