  1. Wiring in an external switch is definitely an option I didn't consider. That would work well but I'm not sure I want to go through all that to save 2 button presses. It's odd that Pioneer only has one screen where you can select the rear view considering that people won't always be looking at that screen. This has been the only frustration I've had with this unit considering there is a lot of dead space on most of the menu screens.
  2. Is there a way to add a dedicated rear view button to any of the screens? I pull a boat all the time and like to check on it frequently when I drive and it sucks having to cycle through 3 screens just to get to the button to turn on the rear view. I haven't done any mods and am happy with my F700 but this is one annoyance I wish I could change. Couldn't find anything doing a few searches so I though I'd ask if it's possible or if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks
  3. I have the HD tuner hooked up to my F700 and I hear absolutely Zero hiss when listening to the radio. It's as clear as I could ever ask for. When playing my iPod it's just as clear. I don't have any software mods on my unit and I am running it through a 200W Kenwood Amp with Pioneer speakers in the front doors and Kenwood speakers in the rear doors (F150), (got a good deal on the speakers and amp thus the mish mash). I'm not certain why people are hearing the Hiss in their systems but I'm not experiencing it with mine. Even my phone calls are clear!
  4. Unless Kenwood has made some major updates to the user interface of their units you may want to go play with one in a store to see how difficult it is to use. I've tried 2 of their high end stereos and ended up getting rid of them out of frustration with the user interface. I found them impossible to use and navigate through but this may be different on their Navi units.
  5. One of the things I don't like about most of the cameras that are designed specifically to be "back-Up" cameras is the 120 degree field of view they all come standard in. I had a Sony Bullet camera that I used to use on my helmet while skiing (similar to this http://hirescams.com/DT-CAME560.htm) and the nice thing about these is the lenses are replaceable at many different fields of view. Mine is set at 70 degrees which gives me much greater distance behind my truck and not so much of a fisheye view that the 120 cameras give you. If you download the specs for this camera off the website above
  6. Newegg.com has the F700 for $399 and free shipping. Comp-U-Save .com had it for $358
  7. If you're in doubt about a retailer, go to www.resellerratings.com and type the name of the company. You can see what experiences other people have had with them and this will help you make your decision. I just bought from a place called Comp-U-Plus and their rating was good over the past year but not so good over the past month. Decided to take the gamble to see if it was another bait and switch company. We'll see. If you're looking for a reputable on line dealer for the F700, I see that Newegg.com has the unit for $399. Not the cheapest but you get piece of mind with them.
  8. I recently purchased the F500BT and ND-G500 amplifier and have been having second thoughts. My current head unit is a Pioneer DEHP4000UB with the HD tuner and I listen to a lot of the HD stations in my area. I also have this installed with a really nice Rockford Fosgate amp so when I'm playing my iPod the sound is exceptional. Problem is that I can not find a way to integrate the F500BT into my system and keep my current Amp and use the ND-G500 amp as well. I want the functionality of muting the music for the Navi voice prompts and to do that I need to use the ND-G500 amp. Plugging the Nav
  9. Hi everyone, Found the forums doing a random search and glad I did. I purchased an AVIC-F500BT and have it 90% installed in an 05' Ford F-150 using the Kuda/Ram mount combination (puts in in the perfect spot!). Still have some final wiring to do (brake hook up, rear view camera, etc.) and a lot of reading through the manual and here in the forums so I don't post any stupid questions but wanted to introduce myself. Jeff
