  1. Set the record mode to manual. Page 156 in the owner's manual. http://tinyurl.com/3exy7n
  2. I have uploaded all my contacts from my cell phone and uploaded pictures from a CD-R as per the manual. The pictures display fine on the Z1 when setting them for the individual contacts, but don't display when I recieve an incoming call. I am sure I am using the proper format for the pictures because the picture I uploaded of my house for the home location displays fine when I get near my house. All of the pictures were edited with Adobe Photshop Elements as JPG and within the size limitations. Cell phone is a Cingular HP6516 smart phone and pairs with the Z1 fine. Thanks for any
  3. Please forgive me but you're a little hard to understand. Are you saying that you got album art to display on the Z1 screen? Thanks
  4. Although I don't own an Ipod yet I have a question. If I install the Ipod adapter does the information from the Ipod screen also appear on the Z1 screen. I am certain artist and album info does but does album art and lyrics? Thanks
  5. No offense but why on earth would you do that? Just locate the light green wire and ground it with the added wire as described in the sticky. I just did it on mine and it took about fifteen minutes. Didn't mess with the reverse wire at all. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html
  6. Sounds like maybe a "homebrew" DVD with a paper label on it? Can you see the DVD through the slot? Does the unit make any noise like its trying to eject the disc when you hit the eject button? I had a similar problem with a Kenwood CD deck when CD recording first hit the home PC scene. I'd burn CD's and put a paper label on them. They would jam in the deck. I'd use a small flat object to lift up on the front edge of the CD through the slot while the deck was trying to eject it. This worked for me. P.S. No more paper labels ever....
  7. My HP6515 from Cingular paired up fine with the Bluetooth module and works better than the Nokia Bluetooth car kit I was using before. No echo for me. However, the phone will not "Register" with the Z1. HP6515 does not show up in the list when I try and register from the Z1. Not a big deal I guess since the Bluetooth is working fine. Also, as I stated before I had the unit installed by a national retail chain and in my opinion they did a poor job. F350 crewcab required some dash modification to accept the Z1. The installer did not use the trim ring around the unit and there is a small gap
  8. Well, after getting no response I did the bypass myself. Surprisingly easy. All is well and unit is fully functional when in motion. Couple of side notes. 9. I just had my Z1 installed by a national retailer. They wouldn't do the bypass for me. Looking for someone handy with these types of operations to do it for me. Portland, Oregon area. Unit manufactured 11/06 so it will need the two wire ground. Reasonable fee of course. Thanks
  10. Just had the AVIC-Z1 installed in my vehicle by a national chain installer. I forgot to note the units serial number prior to the install. Is the serial number located on the box or documentation anywhere? Thanks.
