  1. Thanks again for all the help & advice...I was actually able to finally update the firmware right before leaving my house for a 6am flight yesterday morning...I was unzipping the folder to my desktop & copying the folder that way...basically, there were 2 folders named AVICZ110 & then the update data...once it was mentioned that could be the problem (I forget the person who mentioned that but thanks!) it still didn't work the 1st 2 times I tried it but it did take on the 3rd try...I was able to confirm that I had 2.0003 now but names when I take & receive calls still appear as
  2. newman may be right, now that I think about the problems I had. I think my 1st attempt had two nested AVICZ110 directories. When that didn't work I tried both the way I described earlier (the various files in root), and just removing one layer of the AVICZ110 directory. Now I can't remember which method worked. How are you writing to the SD? Depending on your reader/writer and OS, make sure you either right-click the SD device and choose "eject" or select the standard USB icon in the tray and "remove device". Wait for it to say it's cool. It may take a while for all the files to get flus
  3. Sounds like a good idea...how exactly do I do that? I was looking for instructions in the Custom Background forum but all I saw instructions were for a D3...I believe that you have to make a folder on the root called "Pictures" and put the images in there...not sure on the size, I believe it's 800x480 or something...does anyone know if there's a thread w/directions for this on a Z120? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the post...I just tried this (I've been putting the AVICZ110 folder on the root of the SD card previously) & it still didn't work for me...nothing happens at all...left in for 5 minutes, nothing...turned the truck off then back & waited another 5 minutes then nothing happened...I hope there isn't anything wrong w/the SD card reader, that would suck...I'll try reformatting back to FAT (just tried it w/FAT32) & try again...never have I ever had any issues updating firmware on a device before this & I seem to be the only person who can't get this done...thanks for all t
  5. I've tried to re-format both cards a few times & still hasn't worked...I tried formatting to NTFS & trying that but the unit rejected the card...does it matter if the card is formatted as FAT or FAT32?
  6. Has anyone else had to order the Firmware Update kit from Pioneer? After going back & forth through email w/them, they sent me a link for ordering the firmware which I just filled out & was notified that I should have it w/in 3 weeks. Hopefully, I'll figure out a way before then to get this updated...
  7. That's what I've tried so far. I formatted the card to FAT32 instead of FAT (tried it both ways), I'm assuming it should be FAT32. I used 7-Zip to unzip it. Should I dump the contents of the AVICZ110 unzipped folder onto the root of the card? If that .wav file didn't "play" when I went to the SD card on the menu, I wouldn't think it even worked at this point. I'll try to re-format the card, unzip the folder again & try that. It's gotten pretty frustrating fairly quickly... Should I have it on a certain input? Should I turn it off after putting in the SD card? What's worked for you guys
  8. After reading that in the instructions, I thought it might be a micro SD card w/an SD adapter. Both of the cards I have are standard SD cards, not the other formats. Just to confirm, put the unzipped folder on the root of the drive? The AVICZ110 folder? Not everything in the folder on the root of the card? I've been putting the folder on the root & nothing happens. I can go to the SD card but then it tries to play one of the .wav files in the folder. I can't stand the reversed phone book names, really want to get this updated & can't seem to do it at the moment.
  9. Hello, I have an AVIC-Z120 & I'm trying to update my firmware w/no success. Just to confirm, can this update be done w/a SD card or do I have to have a micro SD card?? My installer said an SD card is fine but I've tried 2 different ones & they won't work.
  10. Hello, I just had an AVIC-Z120 installed in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/XM & an iPod Cable. Everything seems to be working correctly but I don't see any of my play lists when I listen to my iPod. When I had a D3, the play lists were easy to see. Now, the songs are listed in alphabetical order. Am I missing something? Is there a way to get my play lists listed so I can play them?? It's an older iPod (forget which generation) but it's a 60 gig w/Video. I never had any problems w/the D3 so it should be fine now, I would think. I have to be doing something wrong or not doing something. I
  11. How would I be able to get the 30% off an F series? I'm a little unsure how this works...
  12. I probably wouldn't have the problems I do now if you did...If I can't get this figured out, I'll be picking up an F series or a Z series & you'll definitely be getting a call from me to see if you're up for another install The hard parts already done w/my car, there is even fabricated fiberglass to make it look cleaner...do you know if the F series & Z series are the same dimensions as the D series?
  13. I was thinking about trying to update it to the 2008 maps again (I was able to downgrade once already) & see if it helped...with my luck at this point, I'll wind up bricking my unit
  14. I've reset it several times & I keep getting that store front message everytime the car starts...I don't know how to stop that & get the GPS reading my location...
  15. Hello, I just had my D3 installed in my Lexus IS250, total custom job...Never had issues w/D3 installed in my 350Z or my 4Runner...the Nav was off at 1st so I reset the information stored in memory (Speed Pulse, etc) & then upgraded to the 2008 maps..it was working for a few days & then stopped completely (the navigation part, my XM, Bluetooth & rear camera all work correctly still) I wasn't able to use the older maps & couldn't get the Navigation to work at all. Attempted to reset the unit several different times & it never changed. Was just frozen in one position.
  16. Did the Nav ever start working again??
  17. Yes, I'm getting a perfect FM signal & zero AM at the moment...The shop that installed my D3 looked at all the connections & said evrything is correct...I'm at a loss at the moment on what could be wrong...
  18. I'm not sure...I have a 2006 Lexus IS250...there's no visible antenna, it's internal...don't know if it's powered or not...I'll do some research & see if I can find out...
  19. One thing I just realized is that I'm getting zero AM reception...not bad, not could be better, nothing...I had it w/my stock stereo & I had it when my D3 was installed in my other vehicle...does anyone know off hand what it could be??
  20. I'll have him hook it up, when I get a chance. Thanks
  21. Hello, I just got my D3 installed in my 06 Lexus IS250...I have the CNDV-80 Maps...it was previously installed in my 4Runner & worked flawlessly...initially, the arrow (direction) was wrong...It would show me on a highway going sideways, etc...I read here on AVIC411 that the D3 was thinking it was still installed in the old vehicle & I needed to clear that info in the 3D calibration screen (which I did) & reset the unit (which I did)...now, it's way, way off...has me travelling at 30-50 mph faster than I am w/in minutes, I'm a town or 2 over from where I should be...I don't
  22. Thanks for posting...i'm trying to get a little more information but i'm happy for any that I get...that said it wasn't a problem...I also want to see where I can get some "molds" to cover the side area once its installed (if i'm able to get that done)
  23. Hey guys, Just trying to get some info here about installing an AVIC-D3 in a Lexus IS250...I know it's a pain in the a#$ but it can be done (I've seen a bunch of photos of D3s & a Z2)....I just wanted to see if anyone here has done this themselves or had it done...if anyone has some insight or feedback, it would be greatly appreciated...thanks...
  24. Hey Guys, Matt came out to my house on Saturday & did a great job uninstalling an AVIC-D3, XM & Bluetooth modules, rear camera & a hard-wired radar detector...it's like the 2nd or 3rd time he's come out to my place & done an awesome job...can't recommend highly enough if you're in the area & in need of an install/uninstall
  25. Misfit installed a D3 w/all the fixins' today...it had been a mess from a previous install that wasn't that clean, evidently...Misfit cleaned it all up & really did a great job...cannot recommend highly enough...I will be giving him a shout again to re-install the N2 that he took out of my truck to put in my friends, if he's up for it
