  1. after fighting with it and fighting with it... still nothing. so, in my desperation, I've contacted Pioneer about this issue to see what they have to see :/
  2. ok... so I decided to do a little more testing and found out what was causing that 'phantom touch' I have the headunit plugged in to a battery charger and am manually connecting/disconnecting the ACC cable. well... I was only running the power to the Headunit and not to the PAC RP4-MZ11 steering wheel control. I tried unplugging the jack that runs from that to the headunit and... voila. so I added some cables to give that some juice and now... no more phantom touch. I'm going to leave them connected to the power, but cut from the ACC cable for a good while and see if that other issue persists
  3. hey guys, I'm really hoping you might be able to help me out with my issue... cus I'm about ready to slam my head on the table. a bit of info: I'm trying to install an AppRadio 3 into a 2013 Mazdaspeed 3 with the Bose system I'm using the PAC RP4-MZ11 cable harness this SlimPort cable http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/A1ZZ_130345119296718750dpeawzbM6x.jpg and a Nexus 5 and AppRadio Unchained. the issue(s): The biggest issue at the moment that the cable connection seems to crap out on me after a while. when I initially plug in the power and ACC, I go to change the app source
  4. hey guys, sorry to be the "can you google it for me" noob.. i've been trying to read this thread and i just... don't get what i need to do. but this is a mod i want to do SOOOO badly since i hate this issue. so my question is, is there anyway one of you can pretty much spell it out for lamens like myself? pics? parts and where to get them? instructions again... i don't like asking people to fish for me whenever possible, but i'm really lost on this one on my own
  5. too bad i missed out on this sale
  6. Based on that, I may have plugged in the wrong battery terminal of the battery first and shorted my stereo then...sadly I'm not that savvy with electronics (i mostly just Excel at the RTFM method) so o don't know how to test if my car OS properly grounded
  7. wow... seems you're getting more progress than i have, thing i dont get though, from what you're saying, your's MIGHT have something to do with your trying to upgrade whereas mine is who the hell knows what. i have the EXACT same setup in mine and my wifes and mine just decided to go kaput after washing my engine bay. i think later when i get a chance, im gonna try and see if i can go into service mode (or whatever its called) to run the upgrade process of WinCE. cus i think if i can do that, maybe something in the system got corrupted and if i cant, i'll chalk it up to fried hardware thi
  8. no can do. tried it when it gave me that problem. turned the car off, popped in the testM SD card and same results. luckily my wife has the same HU and to make sure it wasnt something in the wiring or anything like that, i plugged my HU into her car (with all her wiring and everything) and same results, plugged her's back in and it booted up perfectly fine and dandy so it's definitely something IN the HU
  9. hey guys, im having a rather sudden and strange issue with my F700. yesterday i decided to wash my engine bay (covered the essentials, unplugged the battery and left it open for the sun to dry it, didnt even plug the battery back in for hours) and everything is showing signs of nothing awry... cept my deck. it's lighting up the buttons (eject, menu, map and the knob) but the screen never turns on, then after about 30ish seconds even the buttons go blank. if i press the little reset button and it'll do that again, but no matter what, it just isnt firing up. i've checked the little 10fuse behind
  10. i just recently purchased another f700BT for my girl's Mazda 3 and after finishing the wiring and everything, i go to pop it in. . . and im not getting ANY sound from it. not even from the button presses, let alone from any audio source. so to make sure i didnt mess up the wiring, i connected the unit to my car (with my 100% i know it works wiring) and . . . no sound, so i take MY deck and connect it to her car (with previously mentioned wires). . . and lo there be sound.so now i know for a fact it's not the wiring, but the deck. anyone else have this issue? any ideas? would a FW update someho
  11. well, i been at it and still cant get this thing to work. i boot it up and all i see is text and nothing but black (maps shows perfectly fine). WTH am i doing wrong? i have a saved folder thats a complete UNTOUCHED backup of my "MYFLASH" and i copied the IMAGE.res from there to another folder to test. i edited a BMP in photoshop, re-7zipped the file. . . nope, tried again with another copy made from the unmodified file, this time edited a BMP with Paint, re-7zipped. . . .still nothing (and yes i am changing the extension from .7z to .res and im saving the files as 24-bit BMPs. . .wtf am i doin
  12. hey, i was wondering how you go about editing these. im dying to start messing around with making my own themes, but its giving me a bit of trouble. i extracted the image.res with 7zip, edited a single BMP just to test the waters, recreated a new file "image.7z, and then i replaced it on my unit. . . it wouldnt boot up, then i realised, i only renamed it "image.res.7z, so this time i replace the extension and now its "image.res" and my unit boots fine. . . . but there's NO IMAGES (other than the GPS map) i havent messed with it that much, but i figered id ask nonetheless. and soon as i get thi
