  1. I found the f700 for 300 and the x 910 for 700. Is the x910 worth 400 more ? I was told by a pioneer guy that the only diff is the 910 has a DVD player? Is this true or there more diffs?

1- Newer maps (this is irelevant because we can install the latest maps anyhow)

2- It has a DVD player whih is nice if you have family or are stuck in traffic

3- It has the latest Apple chip which allows you to charge the iphone while having it plugged in. The F700 would play the music, but it would not charge it. The X series now has iphone support, whereas before it is mostly meant for ipods.

4- MSN (which I do not care about)

5- Nice shiny bezel which IMO looks better installed than the F700

I upgraded from the F700 to the X910 and I say that it is worth it, but that is just me :)

  2. abb i just installed ur chrome mod mainly cause my 910 was stuck in the reboot loop and everything was working fine intel this past weekend now every time i go into the gps it starts rebooting again or if i plug my iphone in it does the same thing any ideas??? please help!!

The reason that your Avic is going into the reboot loop is that it is looking for a file that it cannot find. This means that when you installed the mod, you forgot one of the subfiles. Reinstall everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING, even if you think that you already have the file. My files are different even if they have the same name. Next, this is very important, De;ete your user data! Instructions are in the first post of my mod. You do all this, and it will work

  3. Of course I did give full credit to Abb LOL. Beer money on the way.

Thank you, that is VERY much appreciated, especially at a time that I am thinking about slowing down on posting the mods, as they are a lot of work posting them and all the work that comes along with that. The enthusiasm just isn't where it once was :(. I am presently still going to put up V5. This mod will be completely different with almost all images improved as well as some requested changes and a few areas that are a lot more functional such as the 'split screen' and the 'speedometer'.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that now we are putting an AVIC in her car because she likes it so much!

I wish that Pioneer would read this, and maybe make it so that their future Avics would be capable of being modded

  4. It is indeed! Abb how about setting up a thread to poll from users as on which car works and which doesn't?

So you will eventually have a bug-free version of the 3D car

Not a bad idea, but there are 93 possibilities, and that is a lot. When MisterBlue first incorporated this mod, there wereseveral cars that were not working. I did a search on some of the russian sites and I found updated replacements, so that is why a lot of mine now work. I spent three days testing about 40-50 cars which took a while with the constant reboots and all that I tested were ok, however, some of the ones that I missed may be duds. That is why I need to know which ones they are. One post was complaining about a jeep that caused the reboot, but I tested all the jeep looking vehicles and they were all ok, then it was said that he couldnt remember the exact file. It is very important to remember what car is used in case it is a dud. I got a feeling that it is just ONE vehicle that is kinda in the background that is causing these problems, I just need to know exactly which it is.

  5. Still running the mod from yesterday (2.8d), but ran into an issue tonight with the 3dcars. I picked a random car (blue is all I remember), prompt then avic rebooted, and now it reboots as soon as I get to the map screen, over and over. If it boots to the Main Menu it's fine until I hit the map button. I replaced the data.zip, sys.txt, replaced the entire 3dcars folder again, and cleared all the userdata, but the reboots are still going. Can you tell me where the pointer is to the cars so I know which file I might need to edit/replace?

The only way to fix this is that we HAVE to know what car it was that was loaded and then we have to delete it or fix it. So please, when changing any cars, remember which one it was so that we will know which ones are duds. These cars were created by russian modders for entirely different GPS systems, so there may be a couple that do not work. I tested out about 75% of them and only ran into one dud which was car #8 and that is now fixed. I didn't test them all though as it is very time consuming :(

  6. There are no 3D cars in my mods. For me its somewhat cartoonish and resource intensive so I don't do it.

Actually, that is incorrect! The only thing that is resource intensive is the present files that are loaded and that are in the background. All the 3D cars feature is, is the ability to change vehicles and their sizes on a dime. The folders and the UI for the 3D images are NOT in the Data.zip, they are in an external folder so that it will not affect resources. I got about 2-3 cars that I choose between when I get bored with the one that I am using :) I have found that it is the image sizes that affects resources. When I first did the V3, my mod was at 25.7 mb. It was slow loading, it would hang, and even freeze on the rare occasion. I reduced ALL images down to the point where it finally was 19.1 mb in my V4 and it is now very responsive, and it is rock solid. I have added a tonne of new images to my V5 but this only brought my final size up to 19.7 mb, which is good for the amount that was added and it is still responsive as can be as well as 100% stable.

  7.

ALSO your Car on the Road is what I am after just can't get it to look that way with the Horizon can you give me a few pointers so I can view the Horizon, have larger roads and larger car.

Most all this is Your Mod I only took the Trip Nag from post #34 Off this version.

Also changed a few icons that I liked instead of the folder and I had to put my Colorado in there somewhere so I added that also. But that will not be on the Blue Theme it will have your default Icon,.

You have 'smart zoom' enabled. DISABLE IT! It was something that was designed for firmware 1.0 and 2.0 where there was no horizon available. Now with the background, sky, sun, moon, this feature should be just disabled. After you have smart zoom disabled, just tap the screen, and you will have the tilt arrows present. Just bring it down so that you can see the horizon and it will stay there. You can zoom in and out using the volume knob by tapping it up or down.

  8. Yeah that is definitely a preference thing where we differ. I think the font that you use is way to "scripty" for a navigation interface. I like OEM looking but I guess that is kind of plain in the end.

Yeah, I find that finding a decent font is tough because the sizes all differ and a lot of the times, the fonts dont look like they do on the PC. I have tried around 20-30 fonts until figuring that the one I am using now, was the best to my liking, but I will probably change it once I find something better.

  9. Okay I am very new to this, I have been looking and looking for something to use on my AVIC F700BT and it seems like every link is broken, i notice you use a 700BT for testing, Is the 700 capable of running this? And if so, where do I get this 3.0 firmware update? The update in the thread has a broken link

I just tried the links and they are fine. Yes, ANY F series as well as the X series (except X920bt) is capable of running this

  10. Thx abb1. I will follow your recommendation and get the X910BT. How long does it take to boot? And here at the forum we should have threads already discussing how to add maps, change voices, etc right? (I will start searching...).

And last but not least, is there a way I could change the system language to Portuguese?

    Cheers...

It doesnt take long to boot. I start my car and then it depends on how long it takes to get a GPS signal. In general, it takes about 15 seconds for everything to, but then again, it all depends on your GPS signal. I dont know too much about the system languages. Everything about modding you will find in the F-series Hacks/Mods forum as the X series and the F series are the same (except the X920) as it comes to mods.

  11. I did that on the image.res file but the data.zip Photoshop will not open all the bmp files. Only opens about 30 of the files the rest say can't open

It is because they are compressed. You will need Ipaq Image Explorer 1.0.1 to open the images, save them in either 32b format or 24b format (depending if they have alpha layers) and then compress them back again after they are altered

  12. So currently, for the ones that needs foreign maps (Brazil in my case) the way to go is the X910BT, isn't it? Today I ALMOST bought the X920BT... It was on my cart... in the last page... And with some more research I've found the threads here that document the hacking is not possible... I was wondering that it could be done soon... but it seams it won't right?

Does anyone know about a coupon/discount/rebate for the AVIC-X910BT?

    Cheers...

Go with the X910! It is moddable and you will be able to update your maps as they come out, so you will ALWAYS have a system with the latest maps. Lol, my X910 has newer maps than the Z120 and the X920. After three years, these systems will be obsolete because of the maps and the X910 will still be up to date :)

Because of the OS, you will NOT be able to hack the X920 like you can the X910 or the F series.......EVER!

  13. Abb.Are you still hoping to have V5 up by the weekend?I have "played around"with a lot of different mods in the last week and find your V4 to be rock solid.Looking forward to seeing V5 :D

Thanks, I am going to try, but it is not looking good as I only have today off. Good news is that my version that I have done is rock solid, looks awesome, and works like a dream. However, that's my version which means I still have to create an MSN version, and a EU version, upload files, photographs and create a new post. This will take more than one day. I initially had more than one day off, but with the goofy season, work is never ending :(. Can't wait till January!

  14. Yes, you are in test mode, however, you are not in a windows environment like you are with WinCE that is found in the F series, or the X910. Therefore, you will not be able to change any files......ever! The advantage to not having a windows OS, is that it does not go through the booting process that windows CE does, therefore, it starts up much quicker and is more responsive. However, not being able to change the appearance, features, or newer maps is a poor trade off :(, one that I will never do.
