  1. I am a computer engineer, and I have wrote lots of low level code for proprietary hardware. I'll tell you this.. it is not even worth it. If you want better functionality out of a car stereo like Android provides, go with a headunit that already comes with it. There are a few on the market. Or, go with a CarPC. They're much easier to setup and customize. If I were to attempt to code for the F700bt, it would take months.. or a team of people months. Hardly worth it. It probably wouldn't even run smooth on the outdated ARM processor.

  2. This is the best cheap one I've come across. The build quality is solid. I use it with my vehicle right now.

Picture quality is very good, and so is the night view. It doesn't have IR or anything for night time, but it picks up a ton of light and I can see perfectly when backing up in total darkness. Just the light my brake lights and reverse lights cast is enough for it to work well.

I've recommended it to numerous people and they've all said it works perfect for them.

  3. For the most part, all of them are "no". If you want a carputer, build a carputer. Otherwise, if you don't even know the answers to the questions, you wouldn't even know where to start and it would be a lost cause trying to help.. it would take dozens of paragraphs to explain. The time put into trying to hardcore-mod the AVIC into something that still pretty much sucks isn't worth the effort.

  4. Wow, youre a real winner. Can everyone feel his power radiating? Good luck intellectu8ally cornering me in your tiny tiny world. Too much irony on this board. Wiretap has perhaps been the only person on this board benificial to me, save the persons who have made the hacks and posted them. So I guess I'm supposed to let his tiny abuse slide because of that? Another is I encourage questions, but just saw a guy asking guy asking a question. Someone responded saying it was covered in the first post of the thread, and it was. I was going to answer his question, but the best answer was in the first thread.

There's something wrong with this board.

next loser will say: "then why don't you just leave"

  5. I don't know why he'd want a ball-n-chain-of-a keyboard in his car either, but that response did not answer his question.

I don't know what's the matter with a bunch of people on this board. Also, those who respond with "USE THE SEARCH!" stfu. You are just padding the threads even more making it harder for those trying

to use the search to find their answer. Ironic, huh? Perhaps if a question was answered more than once in the history of time somebody could find the answer by themselves using search?

    Quoted for hypocrisy.

  6. very exciting future. Wonderful.

But i wanna know something, where can you use wifi internet? in my country it is possible just for home or maybe some hotels or some shopping centers. In your country wifi internet connection can be found everywhere? For example roads?

i will order this SDW-821 card from USA. In which internet site can i find it cheaper?

Tether it to your cell phone..

  7. An update on Wifi + Internet on F900BT:

I have returned the Spectec SDW-821 Wifi card because I suspected the card to be broken. Whatever I tried, I did not get Windows CE to recognise the Wifi card. The supplier tested the returned card and it was confirmed working in their test. They refused to send me anther card because they think my device does not support SDIO devices.

I would like to try the SDW-820 card because on the gpspassion forums they claim that the SDW-820 Wifi card is more compatible with Windows CE 5.0. It also uses an other type of drivers that do not use the WZC utility but a standalone program to configure WLAN. This is interesting as the SDW-821 drivers refused to pop up the WZC utility on the F900BT unit.

Before I order the SDW-820 card I would like to be sure that the F900BT has a working SDIO slot. Can anyone confirm internet working on a F900BT or does anyone know for sure that this unit has a working SDIO slot?

Kafklatch said he had SDIO wifi working several posts back.

  8. Yeah, that's most likely the problem. Various device ID's may not be recognized under WinCE, so no drivers or improper/limited drivers load. I'm almost finished up with my computer engineering degree at Univ. of. Mich and this semester I'm taking a few embedded systems classes, so I may be able to troubleshoot some issues.

  9. Yeah, I'm aware of the power issue.. I am powering mine correctly. I made this thread: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=24072

It just didn't work when I tried. I plugged in two thumb drives, only one showed up. I plugged in two hard drives, only one showed up. I plugged in a thumb drive and a hard drive, only one showed up. I tried changing the USB host settings in WinCE and got the same results.

Oh well, it doesn't concern me that much.

  10. I remember back 5+ years ago I saw sdio cards (sd wifi cards) WITH built in memory. I went googling for them and came up pretty much empty handed. I did see this model:

    http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Connect-2 ... roduct_top

    It's 256 megs and 802.11b in 2003.

DON"T GET THIS CARD. It is very old with old drivers and not 802.11g. I'm just showing it to show there are or were sdio cards with built in memory.

It may be a mute point because I can't find any, it looks they went the way of the dodo as pocket pcs did.
