  1. After updating my F90BT to firmware 3.0, I was wondering if there was an update I was missing out on with the Bluetooth software. If so what is the latest version? Is it 3.3?

I think 3.3 is the latest bluetooth version, but it is only recommended for certain phones so I'm pretty sure there aren't any sound quality or operational updates in it. It does seem like it is more likely to be a mic issue. I am happy with the call quality in mine and I am still using 2.9 firmware for BT. I use an old nokia mic that I already had and the sound quality is pretty good.

  2. I have spoken to Pioneer UK about this. They spoke to their workshop engineers who confirmed that the unit only auto-connects to the last connected phone. I pointed out that this is not what is stated in the manual, or the way most OEM and Parrot systems work, and they said would pass this on to the design team in Japan. At the very least they may correct the manual.

  3. Dear all,

I was just wondering if it is just me or everybody. I find the phonebook very hard to use, especially while driving. I would say i have a lot of contracts in my Phone with several numbers to each contract. So i have to scroll to the list trying to find the Person i want to call.

It would be much nicer if there was a box where you can type a couple Letters of the name (first OR last) using the on screen keyboard and it displays the matching Contacts.

I am working in the IT Department at a Chemical Company, but I am new to the Avic, I have done some Web Programming as well as Visual Basic. So i guess i would be able to figure it out. Does anybody know if there is something like described out there yet or is there a general info guide with the first steps what i need to make modifications you could recomand for me?

    Thank ya'll

    zellow

I'm no help in the programming of a search function, but what I have done to make dialling out easier is to change my 6 most used numbers in my phone to start with numbers so that they appear on the first page. IE I just rename them 1_Fred & 2_Sue 3_John etc in the phone. This also then works when I use the phone with our other car which has an OEM Bluetooth system, which again puts these at the top of the list.

  4. A little while ago, I upgraded to the new firmware for my F700 primarily to get my steering wheel to control my presets. I use my SD card and my IPOD on my steering wheel just fine.

I found out that it didn't work and took it into a local Future Shop here in Ottawa, Canada to find out why it wasn't working (in addition to my reverse camera not working anymore.)

After the installation, I am told that I have the 'choice', either:

    a) go with the radio presets on the steering wheel

    B) go with the sd card/ipod presets on the steering wheel

Is this the case , or did the installer not know what they were speaking of.

If the installer was right, I think it's really crappy to limit the number of sources on the steering wheel.

For all of you guys out there does the steering wheel work on all of your inputs (radio, ipod, sd card)?

I have not done the bypass if that matters.

They are correct unfortunately. The same command that gives next track/ prev track in IPod or MP3 play mode, gives up/down frequency scan in radio mode. The command that gives up/down preset in radio mode gives FF/REW in MP3/Ipod mode. It is the definition of the button presses within the F700 itself that causes this. If you have a spare set of up/down buttons on the wheel you should be able to program them to be preset up/down but they won't/can't be the same buttons that give track up/down in Ipod/MP3 mode. Hope that makes sense. Why Pioneer set it up this way is a complete mystery, and is a complete pain.

  5.

My phones do not auto connect and I have SW330 installed.

    Jimbo

What, none of them? At least mine will auto-connect, but only the last-used one.

Opps Sorry! It does connect to lasted used one but does not change when I switch to different phone.

    Jimbo

OK, so that's exactly the same as mine. The manual definitely states that it will auto-connect in order of registration. That surely means that it was meant to work down the list of registered phones until it finds one that it can connect to. This is the obvious way of doing it and also how other parrot systems and most OEM systems work. I wonder why Pioneer changed it? I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned more on here as this is a serious shortcoming for anyone who shares a car, or uses more than one phone.

  6. OK, thanks I'll have a look at that. Both our phones are Nokia - one is a 6300 and the other a 6233 so I should be OK with the SW330. They both work perfectly when connected. Does anyone know if it the newer firmware makes any difference to how it auto-connects? In fact does anyone have an F series with either firmware that auto-connects to more than one phone depending on which is in the car?

  7. I did a search for this topic and couldn't find anything.

With the regard to auto-connect feature for bluetooth on the F series, the manual says it will auto connect in the "registration number order". I thought that it should work down the phone list until it finds a phone to connect to, but it doesn't actually do that. What is does is only try to auto-connect to the last used phone, and if that is not available it stops trying. The other phone can be connected by going into the phone menu and manually selecting it but this is far from ideal when driving.

Am I missing something? I notice that there is an update bluetooth software facility, have there been any updates? Mine is running HW100 - SW290

  8. All of the current ipods except the shuffle will work with all of the Pioneer units. You would probably start with the nano and go from there.

Thanks for that, will get a nano then.

  9. I have had my F700BT for a while and have been playing my MP3s from an SD card.

I would quite like to see the album art (which my MP3s all have attached already), and have the option of playlists and searching by genre, album etc etc that comes with connecting an Ipod. I would probably only use the Ipod in the car, so my question is which is the cheapest Ipod that works successfully with the F-series. Would an Ipod Shuffle, for example, give the same features and display information when connected to the F-series as a more expensive Ipod with a screen?

  10. it was a pleasure knowing all of you here at avic411, i think i'm happy where my nav is at right now and once i fix the bug that was recently reported i will release a final version of the mod, i was planning on adding a couple more user settings for the button but it'll be a lot of work for something so small so i think i'd just have 3 final versions, one for MSN, one for TMC and one for F700 users

I think that is a good decision. You could end up spending the rest of your life doing minor changes to it, and still get requests for more. What you have produced is brilliant, and if I were you I would be sitting back with a beer and a big cigar feeling very pleased with myself!!!

Thanks again. Now could you just alter .............................................................

  11. I would prefer a voice warning with the speed limit mentioned rather than a beep, but I believe that is very difficult to achieve.

when i thought about it if ever i make a voice warning option when over the speedlimit it will behave strangely that you'll hear it over and over again overlapping each other, so let's your over the speedlimit what it'll do is call the spoken warning and announce it but after the first word is announce it will announce it again and after the first word on the 2nd announcement is not even done it will announce it again and will only stop when you stick to the speedlimit

The mobile camera situation is different. Here in the UK they are often over Motorways or Dual carriageways where I could well be slighly over the limit as (like most people) I cruise at over 70 on a these when it is clear. So I don't want a warning in those cases as there are so many in-active locations that it would become very irritating. I also understand that they set the bar quite high on those so that unless you are over 80 mph they don't bother.

I have decided that my solution is to remove the mobile cameras (type 5) completely from my speedcam database. There are so many false alarms with them and, while I might miss seeing a fixed speed camera hidden behind a roadsign, I reckon if I don't spot a big white camera van, I probably shouldn't be driving anyway!

so you're saying that even if the warning beeps are turned off there's still a moobile beep, could yo uplease calrify as this would be a bug,

No, there is no bug, it all works as expected. With the beep turned off I get no beeps for any type of camera, with it turned on I get it for all cameras. What I was saying was that I want a beep for over limit on fixed cameras but not for mobile ones, so I got this effect by removing all mobile cameras from my database.

You are right about the repeating warning if the over limit warning was speech rather than a beep. I actually have tried it myself by replacing my overspeed.wav with a voice file that says "speed camera". It does repeat if I approach a camera over the limit, but I am actually quite happy with it, as it is immediately obvious what the warning is about.

I am now totally happy with the way it all works, anything else would just be creeping perfection. Thanks again for all of your efforts and patience.

  12. In the next version of the mod, it would be possible to add an option to disable the speedcam mobile alerts?

i already removed that option on this mod

The speed cam alerts settings seem to be a bit of a headache. IDT says it is a very complicated part of the firmware, and it is not easy to decide the best way I would like it to work even if the programming of it was easy.

I know I want to be warned in the unlikely event of approaching a fixed speed camera at over the limit, but I don't want to be warned for the majority of the time when I pass one at or under it. That is OK as I can turn off voice warnings and set up the beep for over limit only. Ideally, I would prefer a voice warning with the speed limit mentioned rather than a beep, but I believe that is very difficult to achieve.

  13. I just did this mod, upgrade from the previous mod, the icons along the top haven't changed, no favourite button, although the new mods are there, the option for fading the icons and text colour change.

I'd like the fav icon displayed but i don't want to loose the TMC icon, would it be possible to change the screen off icon for the fav icon, thereby still keep the TMC ?

Thanks IDT, paypal coming to you soon.

    Paul.

I also like the Favourites. I would be happy to loose either the day/night or the Screen off icon to have it.

    >IDT, I was trying to see if I could do this myself without bothering you yet again. I had a look at ui_pioneer\800_480\ui\navigatemap_800_480.ui and could see that the line for the favourites icon exist but is commented out. So I tried commenting out the day/night icon lines and activating the favourites line and change the location to be the same as the day/night. Sadly I get a FFUI ERR box pop up about unknown object identifier in script "sc_Navi_MenuAlphaRestore" command 5, so I guess it is more complicated than that (seemed to good to be true!). It did actually all work OK after ticking OK on the error box, but I get the same error everytime I startup.

checj your navigatemap.ui and comment out the btnNMB_changescheme , and then uncomment btnNMB_favourites_onmap and chane its x value to the x values of the day/night scheme

Actually I've managed to come up with another solution. By playing around with the x values for the existing icons, I've squeezed them a bit closer together to make a space for the Favourites, so I can have that as well as all of the existing options. It all works great except if I set the icons to fade down, the Favourites one doesn't fade with the others. Not a big problem, but if it is another one-line change that I can do I would do it just to get it 100%.

The rest of it is all working perfectly. Great work. Thanks again.

  15. IDT, regarding the speed camera warnings that you are looking into, I just wondered how easy would it be to add the following as an option?

Instead of a voice warning as you approach every camera and/or a beep when you are over the speed limit as you approach, I think a really good option would be just a voice warning ONLY if you are over the limit on approach.

Because we have so damn many cameras in the UK, a warning as you approach each one soon gets very irritating, so I tend to turn that off and just use the over limit beep. That alerts you OK but obviously doesn't give you a confirmation of the actual limit. A voice warning of "Speed Camera 40" etc that only occurs if you are over that speed would be absolutly perfect IMO.

I've just done a 180 mile trip and I have to say that the system is now virtually perfect. I cannot praise you enough for the work you have done turning a clunky, crappy bit of firmware into the slick product it now is.

i'm currently working on speedcamera alerts and settings, i think it would take a while before i get this done as it's sooo complicated,

I understand. It would be the cherry on the icing on the cake, so if it can be done eventually then great, if not, no worries.

An update on the speed camera warning beeps after a longer drive today past various speedcam locations.

For static cameras I still get no beep at all. Tested in both "over-limit" and "on approach". The camera shows correctly on the map screen and visual/spoken warnings work if selected.

For mobile cameras I get a very quiet , repeating beep as I drive past the camera location.

I am happy to test any change in settings, check file locations etc etc that you can suggest to help you investigate this.

  18. OK, for anyone else that is in the same position, I found out what to do. Having already upgraded the WINCE files, it was not too difficult. I downloaded Tomola's files from this link viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26625 (thanks Tomola). I extracted these to an SD card which also has the Testmode files on. Then all I had to do was put that SD card in, boot into Testmode , and copy the complete contents of the My Flash Disk folder from the SD card to the My Flash Disk drive. It took about 20 mins to copy.

    Rebooted and everything works great.

  19. Just finished updating my 700BT EU version to firmware 3 then to IDT 3.0 v4.3 EU. Everything updated perfectly and I want to add my thanks to IDT for his superb work and input to the forum. I have sent you a paypal contribution as a thank you.

I have only been using it for a couple of hours, so am still playing around with all of the settings and options to get it exactly as I want. The only thing I haven't been able to get to work so far is the speed cam warning beeps. No matter what setting I try (on approach or over limit) I get no beep. I have tried with or without spoken warnings and visual warnings and still nothing. Is there something obvious I should check - maybe I am missing the relevent sound file altogether? The visual warnings work OK as does the spoken warning. I have tried searching through this thread in case you have already answered a similar question, but couldn't find anything.

  20. Oh Boy. You are already ahead of me.

I'm still stuck with the latest official firmaware for my 900bt (2.9 i think) and only have achived to enter the unit in windows mode with the testmode 2.3 files.

I have upgraded the WINCE files and the media player to version 3

Could you be so kind and tell me how you did this or point me where you got the info.

Any way. I hope this post helps you wth the maps update

    viewtopic.php?f=34&t=18460&hilit=igo8+igo+any+map

    Thanks.

I think this link has the instructions I used, but it was a while back and I'm not 100% sure. I don't really feel confident enough about the updating process to offer advice to others, which is why I am asking for help to make sure I fully understand what to do before going further!

    viewtopic.php?f=32&t=25711&start=30

  21. I have a 700BT EU. I have upgraded the WINCE files and the media player to version 3 . I didn't bother upgrading the NAV part at the time, as all I really wanted was to eliminate the SD card MP3 bugs. Also, I have applied CMH928's mods to the NAV firmware, I didn't want to loose that extra functionality.

I am now considering upgrading the Nav section and adding the latest maps.

What exactly would I need to do to get from my half updated state to a full update including CMH928's mods?

I have read quite a lot of posts on upgrading, but having an EU unit that is already half-updated, I am in a different position to most and I want to make sure I get it right and don't brick it. I would appreciate any hand-holding that anyone can offer on this. I have downloaded the latest version of maps for the UK, which is all I really need updating.

    Thanks

  22. Correct me if I'm wrong. You already programmed those buttons as Preset Up/Down when you first installed the unit (or they came preprogrammed as such). But, up until the 3.0 software update they did nothing. However, they are working now after the update? Is that correct? Or, perhaps I'm misunderstanding. I'm not familiar with the "Sony Stalk" you are talking about.

If so, I am going to remove my unit and reprogram my SWI-PS so my steering wheel up/down buttons control presets instead of track/seek. Unfortunately, my car only has one set of up/down buttons, which I originally programmed for presets. But, because that function didn't work, I reprogrammed to track/seek. I'm looking forward to preset functionality again!

    Woohoo!

The Sony Stalk is not programmable it is just a wired remote stalk that works with any Sony/Pioneer headunit with the 3.5mm socket. It has 2 up/down commands, normal and "shifted" where you press the up/down ring as you turn it (not a great explanation you need to have seen one really to know what I mean, but doesn't really matter).

These are the responses of the AVIC units to the wired remote control inputs

AVIC responses to remote commands for pre-firmware 3

Sony Stalk Command........MP3 mode command... Radio mode command

    Normal up/down............Next/Prev Track.........Scan up/down

    Shift up/down...............Nothing...................Nothing

AVIC responses to remote commands for firmware 3

Sony Stalk Command........MP3 mode command... Radio mode command

    Normal up/down............Next/Prev Track.........Scan up/down

    Shift up/down...............Next/Prev folder.........Next/Prev Preset

If you have firmware 3 you should be able to re-program your PAC to give up/down presets, BUT (and this is the problem) in MP3 mode the programmed button will then give up/down folder rather than up/down track. Unless you have enough buttons to have 2 distinct up/down commands you are alway going to have to choose between the remote working sensibly in radio mode or MP3 mode but not both, thanks to Pioneer's superb firmware skills!
