I would suggest pulling out the unit, yes. Cut the lead with enough left to ground to the vehicle chassis. -

Why is anyone actually hooking up the handbrake lead to the actual handbrake? Ground that sucker out and do the software mod! 5 minutes, full access to vid and navi while in motion. -

You MUST NOT connect the handbrake lead to the actual brake, if you want to bypass it. It gets grounded, and from there, you can either: Change the pin location of the mute lead and ground it, or do the software mod, which I have laid out step by step in the above post. -

ullull, I am not 100% sure if you need to ground the parking brake lead in conjunction with the software mod, but I believe you must.If it is in fact mandatory, I'm sure someone will chime in. Having said that, I finally successfully did it today(mine is the F90, just like yours), and will share with you how: From what I have read on this forum, you can either do one or the other, hardware mod or software. That being said, in both cases I believe you MUST ground the parking brake (green) lead. If you want to enjoy video while in motion, you cannot hook the parking brake wire to the act -

Just want to let everyone know that by following the threads on this forum, as well as the "how to back up your flash disk thread", I was able to complete the hardware/software handbrake bypass. Many thanks to all who contributed. Now I can install my slimline PS2 for my passengers to play on those long trips down to AC! Kudos. -
Oh, and the unit isn't picking up my MSN subscription. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Unclipped it, it was cut through. Took a multi-meter to all my connections. Parking Brake & Mute are grounded. Pin was relocated correctly. Any suggestions? Maybe its time to move over to the software mod. Just picked up a 2g SD card. Can someone post where I can find the mod I need? Thank you.

Thanks for the info. The TTS was a simple fix. Good to know I don't have to mess with the speed sensor. I don't even want to begin to think of tapping into my car's computer. I think I have figured out what went wrong with my parking brake ground. Question: The red wire splice apparatus that comes with the unit, that is attached to the parking brake lead, does that automatically cut the wire sheath on another wire(in this case, my ground lead)when you close it? Or must the wire be sheathed first? I was told by a friend that I did not have to cut the sheath first. I listened, even though it

Hello! I am absolutely brand new to this unit, as well as modding ANYTHING. Please don't mind the n00bishness...TY. I have installed the unit. A few things: 1)I reinserted the pin into the proper new location for the handbrake bypass. Grounded the parking brake and mute. Fairly straightforward procedure. Still getting a PARKING BRAKE ERROR. Triple checked my connections. Only thing I can think of is maybe the pin from the head unit is not sitting flush in its new location. Having said this, can I simply move on to the software mod, since I am fairly certain I have the proper wires
