  1. You should start by getting the proper wire harness for the avic d3 and go from there. About the volume knob, I've seen some stores on Ebay that fix issues with Avic units, I'm not sure if this includes cosmetics issues but it's worth to give it a try. 8)

  2. OK, you need to go the A/V menu but without playing any device or radio, then you see in the upper screen a button that says INITIAL, push the button and it will give you 3 options, REAR SPEAKER, VOICE GUIDANCE and I don't recall the last one but it doesn't matter, you need the middle one, in reference to the Navigation Voice Guidance, when you click this button it will give you 3 different options each time you press it, MUTE, ATT, NORMAL, if you choose NORMAL, you will hear the music normally thru the speakers and the Voice guidance will play but won't interrupt the music at all, if you pick ATT the voice guidance will partially interrup the music (it will lower the volume level of the music) and if you pick MUTE it will interrupt any sound and you will hear the Voice Guidance only. I hope this help you. :D

  3. Please try to do following: Insert the Nav disc that it was working with the unit last, and then go to settings and change the language to French or spanish (the one that you feel more comfortable to understand) then the unit will start the update process itself, wait for the update process to complete, now your nav functions will be displayed in the language you selected, now re-do the process again and select English as your language but before the update process starts, eject the nav disc and insert the one that you just got from pioneer (the OEM one) and let the process to complete again, that should help you out, it did work for me. Please let us know if it works, thanks. 8)
