I would suggest you to buy the A/V harness new from Ebay or Pioneer to avoid making a wrong connection, I think your Avic d3 is worth to get the harness new. -
What happened to my GPS audio?

I would try to do a soft reset of the unit, just push the reset button with a pin (located next to DVD slot of the unit) for a few seconds. I had a similar issue in the past and that solved the problem for me. -
You should start by getting the proper wire harness for the avic d3 and go from there. About the volume knob, I've seen some stores on Ebay that fix issues with Avic units, I'm not sure if this includes cosmetics issues but it's worth to give it a try.

OK, you need to go the A/V menu but without playing any device or radio, then you see in the upper screen a button that says INITIAL, push the button and it will give you 3 options, REAR SPEAKER, VOICE GUIDANCE and I don't recall the last one but it doesn't matter, you need the middle one, in reference to the Navigation Voice Guidance, when you click this button it will give you 3 different options each time you press it, MUTE, ATT, NORMAL, if you choose NORMAL, you will hear the music normally thru the speakers and the Voice guidance will play but won't interrupt the music at all, if you pick

Yes, it will do. All these wires and cables are needed for the Avic d3 to work properly, specially the VSS wire, reverse wire and the GPS antenna.

Yes, you need to hook it up to get all the functions working properly, when I installed mine I hooked up improperly and I was having a few problems with my Avic D3 but after I realized and fix the problem, now my Avic d3 works great.

AVIC D3 80mt disc problem, please read
g35rider007 replied to colonelcoitus's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Please try to do following: Insert the Nav disc that it was working with the unit last, and then go to settings and change the language to French or spanish (the one that you feel more comfortable to understand) then the unit will start the update process itself, wait for the update process to complete, now your nav functions will be displayed in the language you selected, now re-do the process again and select English as your language but before the update process starts, eject the nav disc and insert the one that you just got from pioneer (the OEM one) and let the process to complete again, -
Yes, it will work fine with that one since it has an ip-bus cable direct connection to the D3. I personally have the 1280 (12 disc CD Changer).
