    Hello,

     

    My apologies if this thread is in the wrong place. I thought this would be the best place for it.

     

    So I have an un modded Avic F50BT for sale. Had it for a few years now, no problems, maps could probably do with an update as I've never done it and I'm pretty sure it's on the latest firmware version. Only selling as looking for a new car and new car will have navigation etc built in.

     

    I'm looking for £500 ONO. Judging by the listings on ebay this is relatively cheap.

  3. F900BT Rebooting issue with Iphone

    Hi Guys

     

    Well after searching the forum for any related issues i didnt find anything that really is like the problem im having.

     

    Basically i updated my iphone 4 to the latest firmware a while ago and everything was fine for weeks but then the other day it started to reboot continuously after playing a couple of songs until i unplug my iphone and then it boots fine. I plug it back in and instantly the headunit reboots continually.

    At first i thought it was the head unit so i downloaded the latest firmware and installed it. Tried the iphone again, it plays a couple of songs then reboots again & again & again etc. I tried an ipod as i dont have another iphone to test and the ipod plays fine no restarts. I updated my iphone to the latest firmware, again rebooting issue and finally i tried restoring my iphone once again rebooting issue.

     

    It might be relevant but i used to have my iphone jailbroken, its not now as i restored it.

     

    Does anyone know whats causing the issue & possibly how i can fix this problem.

    Just a quick question although i dont think it will be a quick answer. Has anyone got the VR catalogue to work on the EU version of the F900BT? i would really like to get it working, im not bothered about not being able to use VC to ring people just want it for ease of music selecting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Can someone please provide me with the latest EU iGo folder which works with the F900BT i have an iGo8 folder but i have no idea what im supposed to copy over and what not to. Ive just wasted 30 minutes of my time because the myflash disk is too big to transfer onto my headunit which means i have copied over stuff i shouldnt have but dont know what? :?::?::?:

    Hi Baedarlboo, thanks for your reply again. I have tried the link again and it does actually work :oops: so im not sure why it didnt work the first time. I have downloaded the file however i am unsure of what maps to use? could you supply me with the IGO folder you have to place in with the APL2 folder as i think this is what has been causing me the problems all along. When the system boots up obviously i get the system startup in progress message but i can still acess the radio and phone settings etc just not anything on the satnav side. I very much appreciate your help. Thank you so much.

    Well i tried the link and the initial links to download the files were no longer available so after reading the 19 pages of this topic i found no other links relevent, i found a link that did work for IGO8 so i downloaded this file and used the 3.0 update file from page 15 of this topic from MYITGUY, i replaced the igo folder in APL2 with the IGO8 folder and transferred onto my unit. I still get the system startup in progress. please wait. also now when i view the version under maps version it says no maps. I think this is to do with the IGO8. So i then went to another topic http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=150 but all the links seem to be either broken or just dont work. Can someone please provide me with the EU myflashdisk i have looked all over this site and cannot find 1. I am totally lost now as to what version is what etc. I just want my headunit back i dont care about the upgrade anymore. :cry: Please someone help me.

    Hi Guys

     

    I have an F900BT European version, I have managed to do the update and all went well but when it came to booting up i got the system startup in progress please wait message and it doesnt go away, it then restarts after 4-5 mins. I then realised on the myflashdisk the US maps were on it so i thought this was my problem, however after deleting these and putting the EU maps on then running the update again i still get the same message. Has anyone got the full 3.0 myflashdisk EU version???? Any suggestions please?

     

    Update... iv just copied over my backup but im still getting the system startup in progress please wait message. Please can someone help. :?:

  13. F900BT No Power Please Help!!

    Bit of an update i got in my car to go to work this morning and still no power. Wehn i got to work i turned the engine off and switched the ignition back on again and it worked! I finished work and got back in the car to go home and it no longer works again. Please help i hae no idea whats causing this. :(

    Hi guys

     

    Got in the car yesterday and it was working fine all day. after driving around for most of the day i went out to pick someone up and found my head unit would not switch on at all. I literally get nothing no button lights no backlight on the screen absolute FA. It has since not powered on at all today and i have been out in it a few times. I have taken it out and checked the wiring behind, all fine. I have checked all the fuses again all fine. i have tried pressing the reset button on the front with no success i have disconnected the power from the back and reconnected it still nothing. What do i do? i have only had the unit a couple of months. :cry:

    Dont know if this will be correct for you but if you take the black surround off you should see a clip either side of the unit. You need the "keys" to slot either side then you should be able to pull it out, If you dont have the keys you should be able to use some sort of flat object to release the clips. Good Luck

    ...now all I need is my F700BT, lol. The stupid thing was on back-order so I'm canceling and re-ordering right now.

     

    But for 2.5'' drive applications, a 2A circuit is plenty. Just look at the specs of what hard drive you are using. The manufacturer usually lists what the specs on their drives are. Most of the 2.5'' drives, I've seen pull about 1.5A during write cycles. But they are operating at 5v.

     

    For your 3.5'' drive, I assume you're using the DC brick that came with it, and just snipping that to wire it directly into the DC power port on the drive enclosure. In that case, a 2A fuse may be too little. A 3.5'' drive can pull more current than that upon spin-up. A 3 to 5 amp fuse is plenty however. Don't worry about having a slightly larger fuse anyway; the drive won't pull more than it's designed to, unless there's a failure of some sort.

     

    I'd actually recommend using the 2.5'' drive anyhow. They're designed to take more shock, they use less power, and the unit supposedly only has a 250GB limit on drive size.

     

    I dont really want to be using the DC brick/plug as i still need to be able to use it in the house to add/remove files from it. The DC converter is the actual plug so its difficult to wire it with that in line. I have a seperate wire without the converter which plugs into the Hard drive. I figured because the voltage is 12V and car voltage is 12V i could wire it straight to a 12V line in a car without the converter but obviously put a 2-5A fuse in between but if the ampage is more than 2-5A wont it just blow the fuse?

    According to the manual, the max current output of the USB port on the unit is 500mA (if that). If you look at most 2.5'' drives, the spin-up requirements are generally higher. For example, a Seagate Momentus 5400rpm drive needs roughly 1000mA on spin-up, double of what the Avic unit can supply it.

     

    On that note i had a thought. Im going to be wiring my 3.5" hard drive to a 12V line in the car, when i look on the plug it says output 12V / 2A (amps) i dont know what the ampage output from the car is so if i put an inline fuse for 2A will that work or will it just blow the fuse if the ampage is more than 2?
