  1. Ok, long story short, the system was running fine. I needed the cd changer cable for a different vehicle, because the other vehicle's cable went bad. So, I ordered a new cable off of ebay. Of course, I didn't closely inspect it and went to install it. First thing I found was that the ends do not have the click-in lock mechanism. Then, I found that both ends were black instead of one being black and one blue, but the pinning all looked correct. Then, when I went to plug the power plug in, the fuse blew...several times...and then I figured out that the electrical plug pinning was reversed. AKA where the the positive should be, it had a negative and vice versa. So, I changed the pins and the cd changer came on, and went through the cds.

Now for the problem, while the Cd Changer has power, can eject the cartridge, and goes through the cds when a new cartridge is put in, the N3 does not see it. So, I am figuring either the cable is junk or the cd changer is now hosed. Anyone with a similar problem?

  2. When does everyone get his/her money back? You understand what you are proposing could destroy the forum and make the best of friends enemies. A man's word should be good enough, it is legally binding, and if they don't ponie up, then everyone knows the type of person that individual is.

  3. Reset your data...I don't have access to a n2/n3 right now, but if you go into the nav settings, you can reset the calibration info. Do that and see if it fixes it. I have seen the problem quite often, especially when someone buys a unit that was installed in a different car previously...I have seen it actually have the car driving backwards, not due to the position of the brain, but due to the brain having learned the signals from the other car.

  4. I can't seem to find the brightness controls to control how bright the screen is. I have the illumination wire hooked up, and the nav dims at night when the lights are turned on, but during the day, I have probs seeing the radio/cd screen because of the darkness. I have looked through all the settings and can't seem to find it. Thanks.

  5. Ok, per my previous post, I have determined since installing an N2 in my mother's car, it is draining the battery at a very fast rate (over night or within a day and a half). The battery is only several months old and is a Odyssey deep cycle, so it is a high end battery. Moreover, the N2 was in my father's truck and he had the same problem of battery drain, although we believed it to be from a different source (He got an N3 and we swapped it out, and he hasn't had probs with the N3). Thus I am looking for suggestions of where to look for such a huge drain. I won't be able to check the car until this weekend, but I figure I will check the remote turn on (to the amp) to make sure it isn't constantly powered. The care has a power antenna, but I don't believe it is powering it 24/7 because when the vehicle is turned on, the antenna goes up and when turned off, goes down. Given this problem has *seemed* to go with the unit, I don't believe it to be a wiring issue, thus are there any other wires coming out of the N2 (Radio unit and brain) that I should check whether they are powered when the unit is off (aka wires that have power when off that shouldn't)? Just as an FYI, I have done the bypass by using the circuit writer pen, but I can't see how that would cause this prob and was only done after taking it out of my father's truck. Thanks!

  6. Ok, I understand my question is somewhat nebulous, but so is the situation. My father had an N2 installed in his truck, as well as, several other electronics. (Junxion Box, so that he is basically a rolling ISP, converters...etc). Anyway, he was having a problem with battery drain, where after a day of not using the vehicle, it would be dead. I assume it was him leaving something on or such. Anyway, his unit ended up being one that needed the flex cable update. He had already ordered a N3, so we decided to install the N2 into my mother's car when it came back. I plugged the N3 into my father's truck, and he hasn't had any battery drain (using the all the same connections, just plugging the harness into the N3 that were installed for the N2). I then installed the N2 (after it came back from Pioneer) into my mother's car. Much to my surprise, when I came home tonight (my mother hasn't driven it for a week), the car was dead. Now, I installed the new harnesses that had come with the N3 in her car, and I am beginning to wonder if there could be *some* type of prob with the N2; however, Pioneer just had it for the flex cable fix...Has anyone else had a similar problem? Can anyone tell me what possibly to look for? I have all the unused wires in the harness, electrical taped just as a precaution. I greatly appreciate any info or suggestions.

  7. On an N2, where even the navigation sees the time in 12hr sequences instead of 24hr military time, how does one change this setting on the radio/cd/...etc of the N2? I have looked through all the settings and can't find it. I don't remember it being like this prior, but I recently sent it to Pioneer for the flex cable upgrade, and now it is in military time. Thanks for any input.

  8. With the n3, you shouldn't have to connect it. I am sorry I can't be of more help...only thing I can think of is, are you using the amp built into the radio or the rca to an external amp? If the built in one, do you have an external one to try? (Aka maybe you have a defective N3). It really sounds given all your problems that something is defective...you might want to call Pioneer tech support and get their take on it...
