  1. I also spent about 30 minutes digging through threads and could not find additional voices. As mentioned above TTS is defined as too narrow a search term, even if other words are appended.
  2. Thanks for your responses. I can only spend so many hours digging around threads before I give up and just ask I will definately have to play around with the maps. I've already removed a lot of the ones I don't use, as I don't think I'll ever drive my car to AK, HI, Mexico, Virgin islands, etc. 3 - I agree that maps of the AVIC are great, but the routing algorythms and time estimates are mediocre at best. Things appear to be missing from the POI menu that I know are on Garmins/Tom Tom. Also, it doesn't seem to be cognisant of speed limits on roads and seems to calculate your time t
  3. Long time user of this forum and I've become quite comfortable with doing a number of things: Running the emulator to test changes Creating custom splash screens Changing items in image.res Modifying sys.txt Software bypass Installing mods (thanks to all the hard work other do to create them) That stuff all seems pretty straight forward, however I am struggling to find threads or topics on how use the more advanced items beyond basic skining of mods or using the GPS functionality. Some of the things I am lost on are: Mapswitcher - What does this do? What is the different be
  4. I am trying to find a copy of a mod that used to be posted here by GTI Matt. I wanted to grab some of the work that was in image.res file. They were main menu icons were almost identical to what has been posted in the new Russian mod floating around but slightly different for maps. Tried searching but no luck.
  5. Wow, thank you for the excellent responses, makes sense. I can live with the two button presses, if someone ever figures out what the exact command is that would be awesome. In the mean time, these 3.0 MODS are really nice, thanks to everyone who spent the time and effort on them. Can't believe I stayed on 2.0 for so long.
  6. Is there any way to add the ability to have a shortcut right to the AV Source screen while on the map? The only ways to get there currently that I'm aware of is to press Menu>Source from a map view or press the tile in the upper left while on a source.
  7. Just upgraded to 3.0 on my F90-BT. Here's what I just threw together for my Tacoma. Thanks to whoever did the brushed metal background in the first part of this thread. For all you people doing a search for: Tacoma, Tundra, T100 or Toyota Truck.
  8. Yes and no. There is a mod that basically downloads all the speed camera databases into the AVIC. I believe it's part of GTIMatts mods and others. However, the BlackBerry application your talking about, Trapster I think, is a live application that requires a data connection. People login to the application and report that there is a LIVE speed trap. The problem with this, is the data is only as good as the number of users who have a data enabled device and are reporting the current speed trap. The speed trap information is retired from the database after a fixed number of hours without a
  9. I did not hook up the VSS wire during my install. My experience so far has been fine. The only thing I do notice is that, as people previously stated, the GPS location update is maybe 1 second off.
  10. I had the same question. Tried it this morning and can confirm that this worked.
  11. Got mine on Amazon for $529 with free shipping. Price seems to fluctuate daily though from 529-559. Keep an eye out.
  12. I just installed a F90bt and using the information I was able to get the bypass working. I know it's not the same scenario but here is what worked for me. Swapped the mute wire position on the harness Ground both the mute wire and the parking brake wire Works like a charm
  13. Thanks for the replies. I understand that the unit will function since some people don't/can't tap into a VSS wire for there car. I was just wondering, besides showing your location in tunnels or when you lose GPS signal, if there were any other functionality losses by not hooking this up? Does anyone know if the unit will adjust volume based on speed?
  14. Thats a good point, does the radio (90bt) also adjust volume based on speed? That's one reason to hook it up if that is true. I just don't want to splice into VSS and further propagate the margin of error in my speedometer. I'd rather use the GPS speed which is more accurate.
  15. Is there anything other than providing an updated location when GPS signal is lost, that the VSS wire provides? I have an 2008 Toyota Tacoma and my cars speedometer is typically about +5mph fast then I'm actually going. I also live a rural area where I would never really lose GPS signal. With those two factors, is there anything I have to lose by not hooking up the VSS wire?
