  1. anyone else having an issue where in the 3rd "layer" of icons - they all just open POI search? (ie - the satelite icon opens the poi search, not the satellite info)

If you would read the part where he wrote down what each does you would understand they are only for poi searches! It searches for poi around cursor, gps address, etc.

I don't know how i missed that... I'm usually really thorough in reading these things. Guess I jumped to conclusions :-) Thanks anyway for putting me straight.

  2. With the new 3.0 firmware I can finally play most divx files... on the 2.xx firmware it would barely play any files that I tried without converting them to mp4. Now it'll play everything i've thrown at it so far! Also, the responsiveness of the SD card menu is better (still really slow though). Thanks again OP!

  3. Craziness. First, please don't ever use security screws like the one shown above as it will cost you money and or time and frustration. Remember, stereos need to be removed for service or upgrades from time to time.

Also, alarms do work most of the time. So some guy wants to steal your stereo and breaks the window and the alarms starts to go off. What's he gonna do? Wait for the cops to show up? Maybe have a donut?! If he really wants it, yes, he may go ahead and enter the vehicle while everyone around finally starts to look to see where the noise is coming from. If your alarm doesn't false all the time it will be something out of the ordinary and people will do something. Tips:

-Get a glass break sensor - thieves can use tiny busted up pieces of porcelain thrown at a window to shatter it w/out making a heavy impact or a loud BANG noise, but the sound of breaking glass will trigger a glass break sensor. Remember, thieves don't need to open a door if they can crawl in through an open window.

-Get your windows tinted as dark as legally possible. Makes it harder to see inside and takes more time to get a busted window out of the way and less glass to clean up.

-If your alarm goes off, run outside real quick. If it's night time, turn on outside lights. Most thieves will run away at this point.

-A tilt sensor will go off if someone tries to tow your car or jack it up to steal the wheels but won't protect what's inside.

-Paging alarms are great but lets you know somethings happening to your car while your far away.

I can rip my avic f700 out of my dash in 45 seconds flat. Even with a blaring alarm, it won't matter. I'm sure a thief who's not being careful about the dash can do it in under 30 seconds and they're off.

  4. well, i got it off tacomaboy, and am currently uploading it to the turboss.com server - it'll be under f700/x910bt (as i don't have write access under the home directory, so I can't create a new directory). It's 1.6GB and I can only upload at 100kb/s or so, but it should be there in 4-5 hours! The file is 1,642,312,227 bytes so don't start downloading it till it's done!

Again, I take no credit for this - thanks to tacomaboy

  5. If I can get (temporarily) my hands on an x910bt and copy the my flash directory - would that be of use? No promises, but I may be able to do it.

Yes it already has worked.. that is how some of us have the full update running on our F700/F90's already.

I have the full flash backup from a x910bt on my desktop at home and was going to upload it last night, but when I got home comcast had the cable lines in the area down... Internet is back up at home now and I should be able to upload it tonight

cool, thanks! looking forward to it.

  6. and it looks from the manual like the sirius display is still screwed. Only 1 line and I'm not sure about channel displays. I would love some input from someone who has seen the sirius interface first hand.

This is controlled by the tuner and not the deck itself. So unless pioneer releases a new tuner, it'll be the same crap that I'm dealing with now :-)
