  1. I am not a programer, but are you not going about this wrong?

The Nag screens shows typically only once everytime the unit is started. This tells me that there must be a "System Variable" some where that gets triggered saying the nag screen was shown and OK'd. Is it not easier to have the system variable set at boot up to say the nag screen was seen and approved? Again, I am not a programmer, but obviously no matter the approach, if a sub-app says it is time to show the nag screen, it would check the settings to see if that was already done, then display or not display it. :?:

  2. IDT - A "quirk" I noticed is that the Arrow, (car icon) sits almost completely through an intersection when I am at the stop line. During Nav. my Arrow is about 3/4 to 7/8 of the way past my turn by the time I am at the actual turn. This is frustrating in unfamiliar terrortory with a tight cluster of streets. I also noticed during Nav. that I am about 40 meters off in distance.

Is there a "Calibration" somewhere? I am currently running only the IDT 3.0vFinal mod if that has anything to do with it.

    I realize I am being fussy, :)

  3. next upgrade idea....

I love your mod and have settled on leaving it well enough alone - I am not considering any other mod anymore.

    Great work and Thanks!!!!

If something could be added, I would say a web browser :) using a USB wireless network stick. I know this is useless while mobile, but I am not always mobile (camping) also, I have had times where I wished I could have pulled over and search for some info on the web

    just an idea

  4. Does anyone know where the "firmware" for MSN diect is installed on the flashdrive? I am getting a improper install error on MSN direct and it is telling me to recopy the firmware to the SD drive. I am sure I have a copy of that somewhere, but if any has a copy as well, that would be helpful. I am running ver3.02.

MSN direct is free now until it dies, so I would not mind making use of it until then

  5. Thanks for your reply. That is what I told the installer and he replied back to me that he knows for a fact that the parking brake wire is grounded because if it was not then the radio wouldn't even work.

That statement is 100% wrong, just to repeat, he's 100% wrong.

The symptoms you describe are exactly what would happen if you had the parking brake wire were not connected to anything.

What he's trying to say is that if the GROUND is disconnected the unit shouldn't work, but I don't know if that error is him being wrong, or misunderstanding something, or it losing something in the translation from him, to you, to the board. :)

dianebrat is right, tell your installer to recheck the install

  6. I play way to much  and thought I would share my minimal experiences. Hopefully others will add to this thread so that when we play, we can recover more easily.

First, always have a backup of at least one copy of the whole flashdrive.

Once you apply a mod, and it works, make a new backup of the apl2/igo folder. This way you will be creating restore points in case you need them in the future. You will be able to go all the way back to stock if you end up not liking the mod you applied. Every time you try a "NEW" mod, start from stock. Everyone here seems to expect a stock starting point except for upgrading the same mod.

In my experiences with the system startup message not going away can be multiple things. Most recent, my ezrider.exe file in the apl2/igo directory was the wrong version. the mod I was applying involved changing out a few files, ezrider.exe was one of them. I simply put back the previous ezrider.exe and it worked again. The mod didn't, but my system booted again. Putting in the right version of ezrider.exe, fixed everything again. font files, map files, building files, poi files as far as I can tell will not stop your unit from booting, you simply won't have any maps, building or POI's.

Most threads insist on emptying the USER/IGO/SAVE directory except for the favorite.dat file if it exists. The reason is most mods include the replacing of the data.zip file in the apl2/igo directory. If your "saved" settings do not make sense to the new data, zip file you will have a problem.

There are also 4 files in the root of the flash drive, something like 0gps??????.???, 1gps?????.???, 2gps?????.??? and 3gps?????.???. (can remember the exact names, but they will be obvious) delete these if you have boot problems. They will be recreated automatically.

So in short, the only files I have had trouble with so far is DATA.ZIP, EZRIDER.EXE, the 4 GPS files, and the user SAVE files. Mostly due to my error.

Another word of advise... careful not to max out your flashdisk. I applied a mod that left me very little free space ont he flash disk. The unit started, but I could not save any settings and I could not get back into testmode to do anything about it. Not saving settings made sense if there is no room, but i am guessing that testmode also uses the flashdisk for temp files on boot. I had to reformat the flashdisk, reinstall Windows CE and copy back my apl, apl2, apl3, user and data directories.

  7. No, I do not beleive my ezrider.exe came from you- My AVIC folder is fairly unorganized with multiple different mods and I beleive the one I was trying to use was from Ver 2 - it was a 2008 file date.

i've seen a couple different hacked ezrider's. the one i used which works perfect is 6,283,288 bytes and has a date of 8/13/09. the license file i added was GENERIC_iGO8_WorldWide@801Product.lic

Note that my system claims to be running firmware 3.2

    Any help would be appreciated

I did have the wrong ezrider.exe, thanks for the help it is now working

did the wrong non-working ezRider come from my download? If it's broke, I'd like to at least take it down to keep the confusion to a minimum.

Updated maps, but not working :(

When I use the hacked ezrider.exe the unit will not start, hangs on "System starting" for 5 or so minutes then restarts. I have the 2 extra license files the Generic World and the Generic Add-on file in the igo directory and the igo/license directory

When I switch back to the stock ezrider.exe, my system boots but does not recoqnize the map files.

So, I am having issues with my hacked copy of ezrider or the license files

Note that my system claims to be running firmware 3.2

  10. I purchased and have the 2 SD cards for the version 3 upgrade. How do I get it to rerun?

After a lot of playing, I needed to reformat my flash disk and image windows CE off the Pioneer supplied upgrade SD's. Everything works except for MSN, status saying that the firmware upgrade failed and I should reinstall it.

  11. Everytime I boot I get the error that it can't load ui_pioneer/800_480/loading.bmp. Then it won't go to maps, and reboots after about a minute, repeatedly. Any ideas?

I have not seen this at all or heard anyone else having this either? Did you grab the latest version, delete your save files and if all else fails check to see if that file exists in the data.zip? I would do it but my laptop had an accident with a glass of wine and is out for repair.

I got this very same error applying your Oct 10th update to your earlier one, I beleive Oct 8th ver. I reverted back to the older ver to fix. I did check the the data.zip file and the loading.bmp file did exist.???

I am building up nerve to try again. I just finished reinstalling Windows CE, restoring back to stock ver 3.01, applying your mod. It is all working, but not with your Oct 10th mod.

I also can not add new schemes (only) from the GPSSoftware mod - do I need to add the hacked ezrider.exe????

  12. Before you do ANY software mods, backup your system. Basically EVERYTHING on flashdrive and call it stock backup.

If you are not running the latest version 3.01, then consider purchasing and applying that update. It is faster and almost all the mods posted here are for version 3. If you apply a ver 3 mod to a unit running ver 2, it will not work and it will be hard to recover if you do not have a backup of the files.

When you do apply a mod - remember to delete everything except for the favorites.dat file (if it exists) in the USER\USERDATA\IGO\SAVE This will delete all your user preference settings as they applied to your last build. If you have any settings in their that the new build (mod) does not understand, it will give you trouble. (as in not boot)

Follow all instructions very carefully. The better mods written by the more skilled, include directions. Avoid any other mod In my experience IDT / Boris / GPSSoftware all know what they are doing - there may be others but I personally have not tried their mods yet. Others may post other trusted mods

  13. I have a freshly updated Avic F900bt to firmware version 3.02 and applied gpssoftware mod.

My unit will not save settings, everything reverts back to sys.txt on restart

When I insert a SD, it recognises it, trys to read it, but never finishes

I am "GUESSING" that maybe the flashdisk is full??? one of the last thing I did was copy all schemes from gpssoftware to the GFX folder

I can not get back to windows to delete them

testmode will not work from SD using 2 different SD's , freshly formated FAT32

testmode will not work from USB using a freahly formated FAT32 stick

The screens stays on loading ... Flashes for a sec, bluetooth light flashes a couple times and the whole thing repeats until I simply remove the SD or USB and unit boots normally

Does anyone have any ideas???? Is there a trick to getting to windows explorer any other way?

  14. I love what you did, but I need the clock bigger. I have successfully modified the time font many times, but everytime I do it on your GTIMatt file, My system does not boot, it cycles.

I would also prefer NOT to have a compass as my truck has a factory one. Is it possible to remove it? maybe move the push functions to an other icon????

    Help would be appreciated greatly
