  1. i tried everything...followed the instructions down to the T many times...this sucks cause now I have to take it in to get fixed which will be over a 100.00...i guess i shouldnt have been so cheap and bought the update even though it should be for free...does anyone know how to load the old firmware that you get from the pioneer site without getting errors???

Hey dude... I had the same problem as you and now I got the update to work. The first time around, I thought I followed the directions but realized that I misunderstood them a little bit.

In step 11, I deleted everything inside the My Flash Disk Drive. Then I went to the SD card... Opened the My Flash Disk folder... Selected All from Edit, then copied the contents. I went back to the My Flash Disk Drive and pasted the contents there.

My mistake on the first attempt was that I copied the actual folder and just pasted the folder into the My Flash Disk Drive. I hope you try this and see if it helps!

Thanks..I will try that and see if it works...what did your stereo do the first time where it didnt work...I wonder if it is acting like mine

Did you backup your unit first? If you did, all you have to do is copy your entire myflashdiskback to your unit.

If you didn't, you made a big mistake. There may be someone on this forum that has a full backup somewhere. You will have to look and search.

    here you go!!

No I didnt back it up..didnt know how to. now how do i use it...do I put all the rar files un-zip on the flask disk?? or are they loaded up individual??...I appreicate you guys trying to help me out on this..Im a noob when it comes to the stuff.. I thought by following the instruction it would be that easy but I guess either Im not doing something right or my system simply doesnt like the update. I also see that you have the 3.0.1 on there...can I just use that one???

  4. test ur sd card full of music and see if it hangs? That's what i'm experiancing?

well i tried to load the old firmwire from the pioneer site and all I get are errors...so Im going to reload the 3.0 on it once again and hopefully I dont get the same issue for the 4th time..if I do Ill try what you said and see if that works...did it work for you???

  5. I'd really like to clear this up once and for all.

You DO NOT need two SD cards. You also DO NOT need to load files on it twice. Before you ever leave the computer to go work on the AVIC, copy the files so the SD card root contains both WinCE image files, the Testmode folder, and the 'My Flash Disk' folder from the torrent. If you want to do the software hack, stick the Data.zip file in the root also. That's all there is to it. Go boot the unit into the WinCE upgrade mode and flash the files. Reboot into testmode, copy the files, eject the SD card, and reboot the unit.

    Done...

at the end copy what files...Im trying it your way cause it seems the other way isnt working for me

The flash dump from the X series AVIC that you torrented in the beginning of the instructions. Unzip the file and browse the contents. Inside you'll find a folder called 'My Flash Disk'. Put that folder on the SD card, boot into testmode, and copy everything in it onto the AVIC's 'My Flash Disk' folder.

I just did all of that...Im still having the same issue where it goes to a black screen after a min of it being on the splash screen... I do not know what the deal is =(

  7. Okay I dont know what I'm doing wrong...but I followed the instuctions exact. I re-did everything all over again 3 times and I'm still getting the same issue. AT the very last step I hold eject and reset for 5 secs, It reboots and shows the splash screen for like a min and then my screen goes BLACK and all the LED lights turns off the system but you can still hear it running. Can someone please help me???

  8. I have the AVIC 700 and I followed all the steps on the outline of the installing guide. When I reach the last step of holding the reset and eject for 5 secs, it reboots and shows me the background screen for a min and then goes black, the whole system turns off
