  1. This just happened to me for the first time a couple days ago.... it was on XM for a few minutes then *poof* there it is on 'IPOD'..... my wife is the primary driver, so it may have happened a few other times before.

I have a 160gb Ipod plugged in full time to the HU... its brand new and bought specifically for this purpose. The battery is fresh and fully charged, so its definitely not a battery problem, although I have had times where the Ipod just isnt recognized at all while driving, and I have had to unplug the unit, and even had to reboot the unit to get it to recognize the ipod again.....

its very intermittent (less than 5% of the time) but it is VERY annoying. I think its time that this gets investigated by Pioneer....

  2. When I did the bypass mod, I kept the MUTE wire in place and just added an extra for the bypass. I then connected the MUTE to the wires provided in my harness adaptor for my Chevy Express Conversion Van... I also have the SWI-ps and I am getting an irreversible MUTE signal whenever the radio gets hot on long drives. I am wondering if this has to do with the harness interface, (GMOS) or the SWIPS, or the something else to do with the HU itself.

Anyone know if the MUTE wire needs to be connected to use the SWIPS Mute function? If not, then I will start my problemsolving by disconnecting that MUTE wire....

    Thanks for any replies/thoughts....

  3. There are wired remotes that will work with the unit. Check the Pioneer site for details. There is also an adapter to utilize your steering wheel controls if you have them. It will be the PAC SWI-PS version 1.6.8. There is also now a wireless solution from PAC that will give you the ability to use several Pioneer wireless remotes. The PAC WIR-P is the new wireless option. You will need it as well as a Pioneer wireless remote. The Pioneer CD-R510 is the remote that has been tested with the WIR-P but others may work as well. I will be testing this solution with the Pioneer CD-SR1 Steering wheel remote soon. I will update the forum with results soon.

Looking forward to your Update on this VBLUE.... Hopefully another video on it too once you get it up and running!

  4. I have my z110 installed in a 2009 Chevy Conversion van with SWIPS and bypass done with MUTE line intact

I have this annoying problem that only occurs on long trips: When running with the heat on 'feet' or on split to "vent/feet" for 45 minutes or more, the MUTE engages all by itself and I can not disengage it with any buttons on the steering wheel or with the buttons on the HU..... Turning off the heat or turning it down so that its blowing cold air seem to correct this after several minutes, but its hard to run for long periods of time in North Dakota/Minnesota without heat.

Anyone heard of this being an issue with the PACS SWIPS overheating? Or is this something that can be due to the HU overheating?

  5. The SCC1 is the hideaway tuner if you plan on only using it in this particular vehicle.

The SCVDOC1 is if you have a sportster or stilletto or other portable tuner that you transfer between other cars/home/etc but still want to control it from the head unit

    viewtopic.php?f=56&t=27827

This is technically correct, but doesnt really give you the whole picture...

If you want the least amount of functionality from Sat radio and this HU, then the SCC1 will provide this... if you to have the "Instant Replay" function on your Sirius, then what you need is a SCVDOC1 and a Starmate/Sportster 4 or 5.

Caution: The Sirius addons will only give you ONE LINE of data, whereas the XM unit will give you THREE LINES of data in addition to channel logos and category logos.... the only thing XM doesnt do that the Sirius DOES do is give you is the INSTANT REPLAY and the GAME ALERT functions.

Currently I have both installed, and seem to get better reception from the Sirius overall, but I prefer the data on the XM. I still havent decided which one I am going to get rid of.... I bought a broken but activated Starmate 5 via Ebay, so I dont have to pay a scrip fee on it yet while I am testing it with the SCVDOC1.

I have a SCC1 that I installed only long enough to show me that it works, and it is essentially NIB which I will be happy to sell you for $40 if you decide that is how you want to do your install.

  6. If you already have a Sirius Plug-n-play radio, then the Sirius Connect SCvDOC-1 is what you need instead of buying a new tuner such as the SCC1. The only advantage of Sirius vs XM is that you can do Instant Replay with Sirius. However, what you give up is 3 lines of data (only one with Sirius) and *no Data* on the Presets. You have to memorize whats where on presets with the Sirius whereas the XM will give you 3 lines of data, Station names on your presets, and station image-logos on all stations and categories.

I currently have both installed so that my wife and I can see which one works best, and I find the XM far more useful than the instant replay, however the Sirius seems to get consistently better reception than the XM.

If you decide on the Sirius setup, and need an SCC1, I have a new one that I never installed or activated which I will sell you for $40.... I bought it before I realized that I needed the SCVDOC and a plugnplay radio to get instant replay.

****NOTE: Not ALL plugnplay radios will do instant replay... only the Sportster 4/5 or Starmate 4/5 have worked with the function after testing it with both versions of the Stillettos.

  7. the only time Ive seen the unit automatically jump source to Ipod is when I connected the ipod while the unit was on.... it went from being in an "No ipod connected" state to an "Ipod Connected"....

so my thought was that if the ipod battery is dead, then everytime it completely loses charge while the car is off it will make the unit think there is no ipod connected....so when the car is turned on and the ipod gets juice, its like it is getting reconnected which automatically switches the source to ipod.

Hopefully i am wrong and all you need is a reboot of your ipod :)

  8. For everyone trying to get a hold of a lifetime subscription for $129.99 you may want to take a look at this:

    https://www.msndirect.com/MSNDirectServ ... ement.aspx

It seems MSN direct will only be available until Jan 1, 2012. A little simple calculation and you will realize that it is only available for another 2 years and 2x1 years subscription ($49.95) is $99.90. Why would you want to pay $129.99 when its cheaper to get the yearly subscriptions?

MSN is refunding nearly all of your subscription fee for lifetime membership and still giving you free access until its shutdown, so it doesnt really matter what you pay for it. Now, chances are good that they will NOT be so generous if you just continue to pay for the yearly fees.

  9. I did a self-install on my 09 Chevy conversion van recently... I had the same problem with the PAC SWIPS instructions regarding the harness. The installer that I bought it from had access to a website (http://www.directed.com/) that told me the location of the harness, but it had the wrong harness color listed. The PAC instructions are correct about the harness you need to interface.

I dont know about the rotary knob you are referring to, but if that is how you do the volume, then you might want to skip the SWIPS and consider a different wired remote that takes the place of the steeringwheel controls instead of attempting to interface with them via the SWIPS.

VBLUE42 mentioned a Sony product that looked cool in an earlier thread today... also Pioneer makes a marine-remote that has the core basic functions also.

  10. I had read on the forums here dedicated to other units that the Sirius Bus CD-SB10 had an issue where it will spontaneously stop working and that the only correction is to remove power resulting in some making the connection from the YELLOW(constant) to the RED(ACC) power line on the CDSB10.

I can now confirm that this ALSO has occurred with me on the Z110bt... I have not yet changed over the powerlines, but a simple remove-and-replug of the power interface on the CDSB10 does reset the unit and make it work again. Glad I planned ahead and put the CDSB10 in an easily accessible place under the dash.

The one and only thing that the Sirius does well is the INSTANT REPLAY function which is great for when you need to jump out of the car and run into the store, keep the engine running and dont want to miss any of the game / song you are listening to.

But if I was a lawyer, I would be lining up a class action suit against Pioneer over have horribly they have performed with the CDSB10, quality of interface, and the documentation/research on what works with it.

I have a GEXp920xm on order, and will be using them both concurrently once it arrives... Hopefully, I can daisychain the GEX into the CDSB10 without issue. I'll update once I have spents some time with these options head-to-head.

  11. am I supposed to receive an email confirmation once I make an offer? I made one for the Z110BT last nite and havent received anything from 6ave, should I submit a new one? thanks.

They seem to answer those emails after 5pm... at least that has been when Ive received them. Let us know what they offer you!

  12. I forgot to add above... you'll also need a dashkit to make the radio fit.

I *think* its the Metra 95-3305, unless you have a Silverado "Classic" model.... once again, a local install shop can confirm for you which install kit you need. It will run you around $20 or so as well.

  13. I am not the one to ask about MSN.... i live about 10-20 miles north of its reception range, and bought it for when I travel to the Twin Cities several times per year. I dont think its even received an activation signal yet... Do a search here and youll find several threads on it, and it appears that most who have it enjoy it, although that some have said its traffic updates are more temperamental than the XM Traffic on other units. Its updates are directly on the Map from what I understand.

But, I would defer more details about that to those who have used it...

    Good luck with your install!

  14. I just did the install on my 09 Chevy 1500 Conversion van, so yours it probably similar...

For your GMOS-LAN harness, you can go here:

    http://www.crutchfield.com/app/product/ ... gmos&ssi=0

Type in your truck info, and it will tell you which one you need.

For your FM antenna, you will need an adaptor... the guys at my local stereo shop knew i needed it and sold it to me for $20 or so. I cant remeber the name of it, but you can probably just call a local shop or even Best Buy if they do installs and get it.

For your XM ant. you should be able to use the same antenna, but you might need to unsnap the plastic enclosure around the metal antenna plug to get it to fit in the GEXP920XM.

I highly recommend the IPOD cable, and you might want to consider the MSN direct since its easy to install and to addit later means ripping open your dash to get to the FM antenna.

For steering wheel, you will need the SWI-PS from PAC... its tempermental but it mostly works.

  15. I spent an hour or so reading through the winauto online guide last night since this thread piqued my interest... it appears that to REALLY hack this thing you need a full development environment. WIthout having the multiple components needed to do this, you would have to find someway to get the code out of one of the units and then plug it into a dev environ... but still, that appears to need multiple components based on the configuration of the chipsets, memory, etc...

The good news is that alot of the skins are written in simple XML according to the winauto dev pages.... so once we figure out how to get to that data, it should be easy to manipulate.

The best shot we might get at this is when Pioneer releases an update, which should contain the following components according to page 94 of the repair manual:

    1. Navi Program Write . . .
    2. Platform Write . . .
    3. BootLoader Write . . .
    4. System uCom Write . . .
    5. Bluetooth Firmware Write . . .
    6. Opening Data Write . . .

Normally the following programs which perform
    automatic version up are all written;
        - Boot loader software
        - Platform software
        - Font data
        - Application software
    Only platform software is written.
Only boot loader software is written.
    System microcomputer software is written.
Firmware of Bluetooth chip is written.
    * Normal writing becomes unable if power is off during the
writing. On this occasion, please retry firmware writing.
    * "Complete" may not be displayed while the percentage is kept to 100%.
If "Complete" is not displayed in 1 minute after the percentage reaches 100%, turn
OFF and ON ACC, and then implement the writing of Bluetooth firmware again.
    Startup screen data is written.

Only once those components are decompiled can we have a shot at REALLY hacking this, although there does appear to be a chance to manipulate some of the information in some folders according to page 105:

    11. File Maintenance
This test provides the capability to manage files in each directory.
In concrete terms, deletion of directory and execution of dumping are possible.
Operation Screen for the First Phase
The following 10 directories are becoming as the most significant directories.
    USER/
    NDATA/
    SD/
    SD2/
    SD3/
    SD4/
    USB/
    USB2/
    USB3/
    USB4/

I think I remember reading that the XM logo data is stored in the NDATA area, so it might be possible to edit this area... also, I would be curious to know what data is in those other folders....

I look forward to seeing what the hackers out there come up with :)

  16. This unit is 1599.99 everywhere on the Net, How the heck did you get the unit for 950, even if you tack on the 200 dollar rebate its still only comes to 1150. I need to get one. Where did you get it from?

Alot of us got it for $1150 via the 'name your price' 6AVE.COM deal last month, which is still the best i could find from an authorized dealer... its going on again now... if you get the gex-p920xm with it, let me know what they offer....best i could get them to this time was $82
