  1. The unit sometimes does not recognise the voice command "call" even though the phone is connected and ready to go.

You can remedy that by hitting the "OK" button for the nav screen before the BT connects.

I am generally connected to the BT before I even get into the car (remote start) but I will try that a few times and see what the results are. It only happens 1 in 10 times (or less) that I get into the car.

  2. You can press an onscreen button to switch between alphabetical and closest first, but by default it does not show closest first.

I like the unit, there are a few things I would like to see such as the option to find a POI along the route. I would like to be able to "reverse" the way contacts are shown, mine show up as Lastname,Firstname and I would like the option to change it like in my FHP-800BT.

It would be nice if the keyboard keys would "grey out" when typing if the next letter won't result in a result but that is a minor issue.

The RDS is annoying as it only displays 8 characters at a time and sort of scrolls through the entire message, this is a programming issue that could be resolved by the programmers.

MSN direct will be discontinued in 2012 so hopefully there will be a replacement service that can be implemented with a firmware update and some new hardware (this does not affect me however as there is no traffic service at all here)

The unit sometimes does not recognise the voice command "call" even though the phone is connected and ready to go, this may be my particular phone though and not the AVIC. I can fix it by either re-booting the AVIC or my phone, either way gets it going again.

  3. Make sure you get a wiring harness that is specific to the Shaker 500. There are 2 versions available, the non Shaker harness will not work properly.

There are also 2 other options to consider with the wiring harness. A standard harness which will require you to manually locate the VSS wire, parking brake wire, illuminatin wire and reverse wire or go with a PAC interface or similar which will provide those connections with the harness. The PAC interface, however, is quite a bit more expensive but will save you a lot of frustration if you are not very familiar (or just don't want to deal with) with the locations of the VSS etc. You will also have to convert the remote amplifier remote turn on wire to 5 volts from 12 volts otherwise you hear a loud "thump" when the unit turns on, this is taken care of by the PAC interface though. If I had to do it over again I would go with the PAC interface. Shop around you should be able to get it for under $100

BTW the VSS - dark blue w/ yellow stripe @ PCM, top plug, pin 3

the PCM is in the front passenger side of the engine compartment

  4. My suggestion is to move the mute wire back to the original location on the head unit and connect it back to the proper location on your Axxess AFSI-02 kit. Place a fresh wire with the ends stripped into the location on the head unit for the bypass, others on this forum have done this, you just have to figure out a way to have it make good contact and stay in there, then connect the other end of that to ground.

There is no reason why the MUTE wire must be used for the bypass, it is just a convenient way to do it if you do not require the mute wire for any other use. Hopefully this will take care of the multi boot issue you are having.

Also verify that you are using the correct bypass location on the HU.

  5. the VSS (speed pulse) wire not being connected would not cause an issue, I ran mine for over a month without it connected. The VSS only enhances the system mostly if the GPS signal is lost in a tunnel, between buildings etc, it is not a required hookup.

The only thing that MIGHT cause an issue with the VSS wire (or any other unused wire) is if some of the wire is exposed and it is touching bare metal or ground in the vehicle which may cause a short.

  6. re-read the instructions and check all your connections. Every instance of someone having an issue with the bypass not working has been solved by re-tracing their steps and verifying that all connections are intact and secure and making the proper connections.

Make sure that the re-located mute wire is firmly seated and making contact.

  7. It is easy to install as long as you are comfortable with

    a) finding and tapping into the power and reverse wires at the back of your vehicle

    B) running the cabling to/from the head unit to the back of your car.

    c) mounting a camera using the existing bolts/screws from your license plate (the easy step)

There are only four wires to connect

+12 (while ignition is on) and ground to power the camera.

+12 or ground (depending on your vehicle) of the reverse signal to let the HU that you are in reverse and to activate camera mode automatically.

RCA video signal cable from camera to the camera input on the HU.

  8. I just reformatted my contacts so the HU can match up with it and still just numbers. When a contact appears on the HU, example my HU has Mom Mobile because the iphone forces you to choose mobile, home, work etc... could that be the reason why the name doesnt appear when she calls.

Having the numbers sorted by type will not cause the issue you are having. I have mine stored that way and it works perfectly. The HU actually recognizes the categories properly as well and allows you to specify the type when dialing.

Another thing to look for is duplicate entries. If the same phone # is stored 2x in the directory it can confuse the system and cause it to only show the number and not the name as it can't decide which one it wants to show (even if they are under the same name).

  9. I did a search for "Time Zone" and found the following thread

    viewtopic.php?f=33&t=28667&p=197349&hilit=time+zone#p197349

Hopefully there is something there that will help with your issue.

Also check this link from Pioneer

The F7010BT is the same as the F700BT, here is a link to the manual.

  10. I would suspect a fault with the constant power going to the AVIC. It may be a loose connection or possibly an internal fault with the AVIC. I would start by checking the constant power wire to make sure it is connected securely, and to make sure it has +12 every time you turn the car off. If the constant power supply is fine then the fault may be with the AVIC internally.

  11. The following applies to ALL cell phones, not just the iPhone.

Make sure that your contacts are stored in EXACTLY the same format as your incoming caller ID.

ex. If you get an incoming call from someone who is not in your contact list on your iPhone it may appear as

    +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx

If your contacts are saved as xxx-xxx-xxxx (without the +1 in front) then they AVIC may not associate the incoming caller ID with the phone number in your contact list because it is missing the +1.

This is just an example of how the format may be different, your mileage may vary. Just look for anything that may be different between the format of the received caller ID phone number and the way you have it stored on your iPhone. I had to do this with my phone to make the names appear on my HU instead of just the number.

  12. I understood your first post completely and provided the instructions that i did with a purpose.

Yes it will work, but if you want the camera to turn on automatically you MUST connect the Violet/White wire from the Z3 to any wire in your vehicle that changes to 12+ or to ground when your vehicle goes in reverse. That wire signals your Z3 to go into "rear view camera mode" so you don't have to fiddle with a bunch of buttons every time you put the car into reverse.

You will be able to tell if your Violet/White wire is already hooked up if the screen goes black (prior to camera install) every time you go into reverse.

  13. The reverse signal is on the wiring harness for your Z3

    Violet/white (REVERSEGEAR SIGNAL INPUT)

This is connected so that the navigation system

can detect whether the vehicle is moving

forwards or backwards. Connect the violet/white

lead to the lead whose voltage changes when

the shift lever is put in reverse. Unless

connected, the sensor may not detect your

    vehicle traveling forward/backward properly,

and thus the position of your vehicle detected by

the sensor may be misaligned from the actual

    position.

The red and black wires are to power the camera itself. Connect black to ground and the red to either Accessory switched +12V or to the +12 power at the reverse lamp so it only turns on in reverse. The brown wire goes to the RCA input on the Z3 (also brown) The Violet/White wire as stated above automatically switches the Z3 to rear view camera mode when it receives a signal (when you put it in reverse.)

  14. On my f10bt I am yet to get to vss wire hooked up (awaiting canbus adapter). I have noticed that the road angle is always flat on the 3d calibration screen. Is this Reading derived from the other sensors and hence without the speedpulse cannot do it, or is there a fault with the sensor?

    Rob

I have the Z110BT and the angle sensor worked for me even before the VSS wire was hooked up. In my car though it shows me going up hill a lot of the time while on a flat surface, but not always. The VSS shouldn't affect the angle, that is calculated by the gyro sensor in the unit.

I can confirm that in a parking garage the VSS wire/3D calibration on the Z indeed does make a difference as VBLUE42 has stated, but I have no experience with any other unit as this is my first.

  15. This may be true. I am using the FM tuner in my cellphone and it does not show the song or artist on the same station via RDS either, but it does scroll more information than the Z110. My cellphone scrolls the stations frequency, the station name and their "slogan" which the Z110 used to do along with song and artist. hmmmm, car is going to hibernate for winter right away, hopefully it all works properly in the spring.
