  1. Hi Guys,

As I mentioned in other threads, the Blue-tooth freezing episodes are gone after the Europe firmware updates( or with new US firmware updates), and I started "NOT TO HATE" this unit.

Few times I tried to use Navigation, I am having problems in getting into show the correct route or rather avoid specific route.

Example, I am trying to go a specific place, which has some local roads, 405 Hwy, then I-90 HWY, I-80, then I-82 etc and some local roads. I know 405 has some closures, and want to avoid only 405 because of some construction going on and get on to I-90 using local roads.

The options I only see are avoid Highways, Toll-roads, ferrys etc, and there is no options anywhere to route review( turn by turn route review) to unselect specific portion of route to avoid, which is there on my 2-3 years Omnitech, as well Garmin I used.

I can not simply avoid HWYs, as I would not be driving 500miles trip without HWYs, and how do we solve this problem?

IMHO it very lame that basic route editing is not there, and any work around would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. hello,

in the pioneer installation guide they suggest using adhesive cable "anchors" (not included) to route the long mic wire along the interior surface of the vehicle.

anybody know where to get something like these?

    thanks,

    matt

Not sure why you need anchors. You just insert into headliner and friction will hold it enough.

In my case I installed MIC on top of rearview mirror, and MIC cable felt little loose under liner near the Mirror. So inserted small rubber mat( one that is used for Kitchen cabinet to provide grip) after the cable, and it is pretty tight.

If you really need it because of location of MIC, you can find small clear cable holder(organizers) in most stores( in staples etc).

  3. Take your ipod with you and ask him to show you the ipod interface on the Kenwood and the Pioneer. You'll be having the Z110 installed before he figures out the menu system of the kenwood

Until you realize that Pioneer latest Atlas Nav database does not have any information about roads and address built during last decade, and the TTS is a garbage, Nav graphics hardly shows any useful information, and routing sends you over hiking trails in your car.

Best of luck with Poineer Navigation...

BTW:I do not know much about specific Kendwood 9140 model problems, but this is what I can tell you about Pioneer.

  4. Updated the firmware today. Weird thing is the release notes does not mention anything about Navigation software update, only about Bluetooth updates.

But I checked I saw navigation software has been updated to minor version 3 from minor version 2, but the blue-tooth software version is same as what I have from Europe Firmware update.

Never the less it is good thing. Finally Pioneer released update for US. I have not seen anything instantly noticeable, but I felt Navigation seems to provide little more details about surrounding streets while navigating, and I felt color scheme(shades) has been updated.

Please let us know your experience after Firmware update.

  5. The wiring harness on my unit does not have a light green wire to ground...does any else not have a light green wire?

It is long thin light green wire and should be there as without connecting it to Handbrake terminal or ground, Unit would not allow you to use keypad at all. May be they mistakenly provided harness from Non-GPS unit, which also uses pretty much same harness, except for this wire.

  6. I had the same issue...only it wasn't actually the mic at all...make sure that when you push the radio into place, the mic plug doesn't pull out a little...the first time I tried to call someone, they said they could just barely here me. Like I was a thousand miles away! I pulled the radio back out to remove the mic only to see it was loose...I plugged it all the way in and installed the radio again. Called someone...same issue. Pulled radio again and again plug was out. This time I pushed radio into place...then I reach under the radio to check the plug...again it was loose...I pushed it in. Called someone...perfect...person on the other side said they couldn't tell I was on speaker. So...make sure your mic is actually plugged in. It seems to pull out easily

Atleast in my case it was not issue, as I bench tested this Mic without even installing the unit completely into dash. Also, I anchored all my cables so they would not pull out because of some load on cables.

But again, putting a dab of silicone may not be bad idea.

  7. Thanks for the reply.

I am amazed someone hasnt posted a torrent of that card by now. LOL.

    $99 for the CNSD-OPU003

    How do they justify that?

I will check out that link you posted. Thanks for that. :)

It is not just posting the PIO card for download. You need the unique key generated by Pioneer on their website based on Update SD card id and unit serial number, at that point of activation. You can not simply upload copy and use it.

As it has been mentioned several places, even in 400k POIs( instead of 12million), they explicitly removed Restaurants and Gas stations which are very much needed.

The AVIC feeds application sucks for the fact that you can not have more than 100 POI(which are not searchable by the way) in each feed. For example Shell POI listing is more than 5k, but you can only add first 100.

I think Pioneer is paying the price for their mistake on this unit, as not been selling very well, thus heavily discounted( $325 for the unit on Amazon).

  8. I know that Pioneer does not provide map data(Tele Atlas). What good is that if you pick a provider who do not have any useful data. Is it because they are giving outdated maps for peanuts?

Pretty much all providers( or interfaces providers) has been identifying the address properly for last 4 years atleast( Mostly NavTeQ).

I found several routing errors too, including trying to send me over a hiking trail in my car!.

Frankly most useless Navigation I ever used. That's why I print directions instead of using this stupid Pioneer Navigation system or carry my portable. It is as good as you do not have one.

  9. You know, I just checked my firmware version today and I surprisingly I have version 1.0000, not 1.0001. I also haven't had any of the bluetooth and freezing problems that others have reported. I wonder if the firmware revision is causing some of the problems. Can anyone else support/reject this hypothesis?

But upgrading to EU firmware definitely changed the BT sequences and reduced/almost eliminated the Bluetooth freezes, esp if we do not sync the phone book.

  10. I suggest you get a new microphone

this i have read. somebody on amazon reviews said they got the Garmin mic. And i see many others available. are these mics often compatible? for instance, i found this one on amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-External-M ... 244&sr=1-1

...not sure if thats the one the reviewer was referring to or not, but if it works ill likely try it.

    thanks,

    matt

It is same Garmin/Parrot mic I bought from Fry's electronics. That should do the trick.

  11. Hi, first time poster here. I just got a 310bt and of course have all the same issues as everyone else. I see the firmware update may help some but my unit says I have firmware version 1.0000. Can I get the 1.0001 US version anywhere or would the EU version be ok to install? I am in Florida.

Yes, You can. I did upgraded mine and works much better now, esp bluetooth is more stable now. But do it at own risk...

  12. thx - so what's the point of having a startup image :(

btw scanning other model threads - i noticed everyone complaining startup time is too slow on their models...so i guess grass is always greener on the other side

Yes, it only shows up on restart. This unit does not restart unless you press reset or battery is drained.( or if you select to eject SD card).

The unit is always in standby( suspend to RAM) mode.

  13. As per the Pioneer, there is an issue with iPhone 3GS with random freezing. They claim regular 2G iPhone should not have problems, but my 2G has issues with hangs, but more frequently if I sync the contacts. Without synching contacts it lasts for a while thought( a week).

  14. The one time we really needed our Navigation on U310BT, it is not useful. It can not find address of 6+ years old community. It seems it knows the street name, but not the house numbers. So I pulled my $60 nav from Staples( from early 2007) and it knows the address. I entered the same address in 2006 Prius Navigation and it knows it too?

What is wrong with Pioneer? Sell a unit in 2009 which does not even have address of community built in 2002-2003?

I am ok not having lot of features, or even basic POIs, but it can not even find addresses? what the hell it is good for?

  15. i've got it....

It's on paper can't and may not post it..but tell me what you want to know..

    grtx , arnold

    Hi Arnold,

is it possible for you to scan it into PDF and share it? That would be a great help for all 310BT community.

My first question would be how to get into test mode to access windows and force an upgrade etc.

    Thanks

  16. Good to know you install is good, and you liked the sound quality.

Make sure you format the harddrive using FAT32, not NTFS.

ABout the POI, yes, Pioneer sells POI pack SD card for $100 ( which I think ridiculous as you can buy Portable GPS for that price).

And AVIC feeds, that is really retarded( I think that is what Pioneer wants), you can not load more than 100 items for each listings, so if you try to load Shell Gas, you can only add Max 100 out of 5k plus which is hardly useful.

Anyways, hopefully someone finds way to work around that issue.

  17. Thats kind of funny because it runs the same nav software as the Z110BT. I would have thought it ran the same OS as well.

I think the core is pretty much same between Windows Automotive and WinCE. There seems to be some differences in HMI layer, and support for something like themes in Windows Automotive. More than likely the same software would work on both platforms with correct driver library.

  18. The unit has no IR remote sensor so there is NO remote that will work with it. Steering wheel controls are the only option. The PAC SWI-PS is the module that will interface with your car's steering wheel controls if you have them.

I can confirm that. This unit does not have IR receiver at all. So, your options are using wired steering wheel remote or Marine wired remote some thing like http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... ls/CD-MR70
