  1. None of this is new GM has had driver infomation center for years. Plus don't foget your ECM can have Pass-Lock I or pass Lock II. If you mess that up you would need to do the relearn so your car will start. this takes someone that knows what they are doing. Not the average Joe. Thanks for that address but I'll stay with my AVIC as my chevy already has as a factory option. If you have a lower end car the Garmin is a good way to go.

2005 Chevy with every option 8)

  2. Sorry But if plug into the OBD II data port and change some thing, you could mess up the ECM or PCM ( ENGINE CONTROL MODULE or POWER CONTROL MODULE ) In some cases it controls your transmission (Automatic only ) Then you would have to have it reflashed. Or if you short it out you would have to replace it. They run sometimes up too and over a THOUSAND DOLLARS. I know I sell them to people all the time who mess with things they should not. I do not think Pionner would want to pay for that. I charge $70. just to flash your ECM and if you have an import you might have to take it to the Dealer and they will charge you big buck's ! So be careful if you mess with your ECM. :D P.S. Flash software only works on a PC not a MAC.

  3. Very interesting. Are you using the the little metal plate that the manual say's to use under the antenna. Your antenna is magnetic and is supposed to be mounted on that plate. I noticed my wife's ( Joan ) F900bt takes a little longer to find it's position than my F90bt. I tried moving my antenna from the right side of my dash in my chevy ( It's on top of the dash inside next to the piller ) to the drivers side it maded no difference. Both cars are parked inside so it takes a little longer to get position. If I leave it parked outside it's dead on.

  4. Is any body using a Nokia E71x cell phone with an F90BT or F900BT and if so. Is it working well for you ? I am thinking of upgrading to this phone. Thanks All Jeff R. BTW I am a PC and never a MAC

  5. I do not think so. The iPod Audio/Video Cable (CD-IU230V) should be pluged in the A/V inputs on the A/V harness in the back of your unit. The USB cable from the(CD-IU230V) should be pluged in the USB cable from the back of your unit. If it is hooked up this way it will have no affect on Video display. And yes AV1 and AV2 should have no affect. AV2 is the the front A/V input and A/V1 is the rear. You can change the setting in AV1 to OFF - Video - or Ipod Of course you can try to turn off AV1 remove SD card if you have one in. From the Map screen.Insert a DVD it should display READING FORMAT then you should have a small Icon on the lower right (DVD-V) Press that Icon and you should have Video. Do get any error message at all ? Did your dad mess around with any of the cables ? Try to hardwire bypass your unit just incase there's a problem with the parking brake wire. But Since your getting audio I do not think thats your problem. Seems to me you have tried just about eveything :(

  6. Sounds like software and not a hardware issue.Since your map display's. You might need to reinstall your software. Do you have a backup of your unit ? If not you can download 2.0 or 3.0 firmware. The 2.0 can be downloaded from the Pioneer web site free of charge. There is alot of info on how to do that on this Forum. Or if your unit is still under warranty you could send back to Pioneer. Their customer service is not that great. Good luck Jeff R

  7. I know this string is about the (Microphone Stopped Working) But I just have to ring in on Pioneer customer service. I agree it seems to be the company line to say there's nothing wrong with your unit. I have sent my F900BT in twice for the same problem, paid twice to ship it and it still has the same problem. MSN will not active on status screen but does get most info. I have an F90BT and it activates MSN in 30 seconds or less every time I fire up my unit. The 900 was in the same truck so it's not the antenna or the wiring, installation. So yes Pioneer customer service is not very good. But they try, They Just don't get it DONE. Get-er-done Pioneer  I would try to replace the mic and reset the unit. Check VR setting's sometimes it can get hung up in those settings

I have a remote start and F90BT with hard wire bypass. Everything works just fine. Try this turn key on to start but do not start your car and see if it boots up properly. Now you will see if your problem is a loss of power while your systems boots up. If your problem is still there, then It's not the the remote start. You may need to try this a few times to see if the touch screen freezes. Some starter systems will take all the power from the battery to start your car and when you let the key go back to on or run it sends power back to the Avic. It's like turning on your headlights and then start your car the headlights dim or turn off when the starter is working. P.S it takes 45-90 seconds for full boot up so wait before you start pushing the screen. It's Win CE it's slow. The 3.0 firmware is faster and has a better touch responce. Is your system bypassed ? :? Take care Jeff R

they are pointing you in the right direction !! You must us AV1 input in rear of your unit and must use CD-IU230V cable. If you want your Ipod to work properly, And use a real Pioneer cable if you want it to work right. I bought one on E-bay (open Box) for $5.98 the BEST-BUY outlet (dealTree) make sure it's a Pioneer cable. AV2 is good for A/V from an exturnal source like a DVD player or Video game not an IPOD. Also you must go into A/V settings and change AV1 to Ipod. I have an 32Gb Ipod touch and it did not chagre from the aftermarket cable I bought from the local car audio store. I hope that helps you. Follow the manual. If you do not have one just download it from Pioneer WEB site. Ok Thanks Jeff R :D
