    also check the manufactured date on box and on unit. i used the 2 wire bypass on a june 06 unit. the box said aug 06 and the unit said june 06 .

    i kept getting emergency brake error . all i did was put in ducatiboy's bluetooth fix and it was allset.. it is worth a shot..

    Just an FYI as to what my process was. I bought from Crutchfield, and included one of their 'Installer Network" cards for a Navagation install. It cost $200.00 and you have to go to a shop on their list of approved installers. The good part is it is a lifetime warranty on the install and it is a fixed price. The shop is part of the network, so they expect to install equipment bought from Crutchfield

    i like that idea . is there anyway to look at the list of installers in you area before you buy it from them???????

     

    cntrylvr79 i am going to bring veh to circuit city on feb 28 and they are going to take out z1 and that sucky fm power antenna and i am going somewhere else.. i am going to check that connection behind the glove box now //// thanks for your help... i need the gps in 2 weeks because i am going sking in nh so after i am done using it they are going to take it back......

    cntrylvr79 i wish you were in massachusetts cause i would have you install it.. i mean these guys forgot to hook up the gps antenna after having my truck for 4 days... (how sad is that).. today was the 8th time i was back and they did not fix the problem...

     

    i have a 2003 yukon xl with the bose system and the fm and am stations are horrible my stock radio was crystal clear.. they can not figure it out.. they even had me install a amp power antena for 50 dollars and still did not fix it.. i am so pissed..i am setting up the 9th trip for them to uninstall my z1 and camera..

     

    sorry i am rambeling i just am pissed ...

    wish you were in area lol

    It makes sense. you do not bring in a piece of steak to a restaurant and ask them to cook it for you.. the parts is were the business pays his rent, utilities,ect.. my dad is a mechanic and has his own shop if a customer brings his own parts he charges him more.

     

     

    so the moral to the story is buy the z1 where you want it installed or do it yourself...

     

    i had a horrible experience at circuit city and now i am going to bring it back have them pull out the z1 and i am going to another shop that knows what they are doing and purchase it from them and have them install it...

     

    if there is anyone in the massachusetts area that want to make so money hit me up .. i will travel.. just want someone who is very familiar with the z1.. i learned more from this site and actually went to cc and told them what to do ... and i never installed a radio before..

    that is what i am going to do is make them run rca to the z1.. he was trying to tell me if he hooks it up to the z1 i have to watch what my kids are watching all the time.. i think he does not want to drop the headliner. but guess what he is going to do it now..

     

    tillithz is it used or new?? and are use a paypal member??

    thanks ducatiboy . it is a fm transmitter built into the dvd player . i also had a power amplified aentena installed . on the overhead itself i am able to access the transmitter it even allows me to change the frequency. that is why i can not figure it out. i think circuit city just wants to get rid of me . they took 4 days to install my z-1 and then they forgot to connect the gps antena so i had to go back. then the camera would not work when i put veh in reverse. i went there 6 times . this site has helped me so much i printed up posts and made them fix all the problems this is my last one .. what a mistake going to circuit city....i will try all your suggestions .. you should charge money for your support .

    THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH Y Z-1. I HAD CIRCUIT CITY INSTALL MY Z1 AND A OVERHEAD DVD PLAYER WITH PLAYSTAION 2 .

     

    THE OVERHEAD IS A 9' DIRECTED DVD PLAYER WITH 2 WIRELESS HEADPHONES AND I BUILT IN FM TRANSMITTER. MY PROBLEM IS I CAN NOT GET THE FM TRANSMITTER TO WORK. IS THERE A SPECIAL WAY TO HOOK IT UP TO THE Z1 OR SHOULD IT AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT TO THE Z1.THE PEOPLE AT CC DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO IT . SO I AM RESEARCHING IT AND I AM GOING TO BRING IT BACK TO THEM.

     

    I'M SURE ONE OF THE EXPERTS IN THE FORUM HAS THE ANSWER. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.. :lol:

    ok thanks . i have spoke to him before .. but i also want to know what is better xm or sirrius . i have never had satelite radio and just want to make sure i get the best one ..

     

    but thanks for the reply and i will get a hold of till... actully i am sure he will see this and let me know . him and ducatiboy are awesome also ctlv79 or something like that

    Just wanted to know what most of you recomend xm or sirrius for the z-1.. I have a 2003 yukon xl and my fm stations come in terrible. My stock unit was crystal clear. And yes i installed a power amp antena and still not good . So i guess i am going satelite.

    And if anyone knows where to get either xm or sirius for a reasonable price.

     

     

    p.s just wanted to thank everyone who has helped me so far .. this site is great and i would pay money for this site if i had to.. wish i would have found it before i installed my z-1 though.

    This is a big problem. I have been having problems with my z-1 . It was installed by circuit city. I was working on it today with cc when i noticed a bit of a problem.

     

    On the box for the z1 it says manufactured date is aug 06. On the unit itself it says june 06. I did the bypass for 07/06. Now while i am driving i am getting an error message for the parking brake wire not properly grounded or connected.

     

    I bought a 4 yr service plan on unit and the kid at cc is trying to get me another unit saying it is defected. If this is not possible because there are not many z-1 to be had WHAT CAN I DO ????????????/ AM I SCREWED OR IS THIS A MINOR FIX?????????????????????

     

    I know someone out there can help me.. And maybe this will help someone else. I guess we can not trust the box we have to check the unit for the serial number and man date..

    Tell me about it i already talked to manager and we are supose to sit down and come to some agreement. I was pissed when i was in there i almost assulted the roadshop manager. I never complain about to much restaurants ect but 4 days and the car is still not 100 % i was furious .. not to mention i am 6 feet 235 lbs powerlifter . they were scared sh!!??>>

    Right now they are offering free install on all pioneer navs so i am garanteed that money back 160.00 + 100.00 to install camera..

     

    I also had them install a flip down screen with a playstion for the kids but that was done the first day in about 4 hours..

    This is my first post. I have a 2003 Yukon XL with a z1 installed , back up camera ,blue tooth, and bypass. I had circuit city install . (big mistake) :cry: They had my car for 4 days. When i picked it up the navigation antena was not even installed. They never told me because i had a bose system i needed a bose adapter so chime is really loud and radio stations have poor reception. I have to bring it back on wednesday when the part comes in.

     

    The back up camera works only in map mode not when i put veh in reverse. Is there a setting for this or did they not hook it up right. Also at night the camera is very dark the night vision does not work .. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

     

    I WISH I WOULD HAVE FOUND THIS SITE BEFORE I HAD Z1 INSTALLED. THERE ARE SOME VERY SMART AND HELPFUL PEOPLE IN HERE. YOU GUYS ARE AWSEMOE..
