  1. just hooked up an N4, with the ipod cable, the customer has a i guess the second 2nd gen video ipod? the black with chrome back...he was listening to it on headphones before. anyway, recognizes the ipod, can control it but no audio. usually with the 100 its due mostly to the cables backwards, but obviously with the N4, you cant plug in the cable backwards, one side is the ipod connector the ohter side only goes into one slot in the brain of the N4. any ideas? is there a setting on the ipod that can change or mute the main output while listening to it via headphones? thanks! ___

  3. hey guys, its not an rca problem, swapped rcas same thing, its narrowed down to the Z2...i ran all new wires to the stock dash pseakers, never even came cloes to the stock wiring...but i dont think its that, its some sort of internal problem with the Z2 i think, beucase if it was a wiring problem, it wouldnt make sense that everytime i reset or turn the unit off and on, it would fix it, and driving over rough terrain does nothing, i double checked wiring etc...but it probably will end up going to pioneer for service in a few weeks if it continues to happen. b
  4. just finished an install on a doge ram 06 with an avic-z2...everyhitng works great... except once in a while, maybe on every 10th start, the rca output just doesnt come out, i checked every thing else in the signal chain, amps turn on, eq turning on, basically the Z2 just decides not to send signal out of hte rca output on that occassion. tuning the car off and starting it back it instantly comes back, or resetting the unit via the rest button does the same thing... checked all wiring behind there, all solid...anyone else encounter this issue before? b
  5. yeah duh lol...thanks... i am just used to being referred out by pioneer to local service centers, didnt even occur to me that the main service center is in socal.. lol thanks again
  6. being from the east coast, where i usedt o send my pioneer services to a place in ohio, i dont know any reliable places on the west coast. anyone can recommend one? fast, reliable and trustworthy?
  7. thanks guys... it was the bare ground wire that came loose, not 12volt. i did attach a wire from the avic chasis directly to the car, it lessend the noise by quite a bit, but still very noticable... i am thinking somethig happened inside.. well, i will send it to pioneer and see
  8. sorry, i may have forgotten to add before i did straighten out the wiring, but nothing has changed, i reran all the wires, neatly did everyhting... the key, as i stated, came down to the ground wire torn out of the plug... do you have any info regarding anyone whos has had similar issues in the past? seeing that you do have 800 posts figure you would be a guru when it comes to this kind of stuff?
  9. wiring messiness is not an issue, trust me i do enough isntalls to see that. its more ore less the location of the intsall, wcih isnt a normal double din location...there isnt much room at all and a lot of accessories are attached... but regardless...what i wanted to ask is: if the ground wire accidentally touched the 12v, and cuased a spark and blew the car's fuse, will this do something to the board of the Z1 so to cuase noise? i am almost positive thats what it is, but wanted some confirmation before i bag it up and send it out to get fixed
  10. oh by the way the Z1 has been isntalled for osmetime. i am suspecting that the loose ground wire that came out of the harness went and touched the 12volt side, whcih was how i found the fuse for the radio busted in the car's fuse box...
  11. avic-z1 symptom: constant hum, static, horrible alternator whine what i saw: pulled the unit out and saw that the ground wire on the main harness has been pulled loose and the end a big mangled. reinserting the mangled end into the slot doesnt help. i also tried to take a non used wire out of hte harnesss and putting it to the groudning slot, also no help. if i wiggle the main harness i hear crackles, static, and very occassionally, the noise goes away, but i cant get any kind of consistency on it. also, while its humming, i find that if i ground the chasis of the z1 to t
