Thanks for the reply. Looks like my AVIC-800DVD is pretty much dead then, laser repair here in UK is £160, which pretty much writes it off. Never mind

Hi there. Sorry to bump this thread after a real long time, but was there any progress with getting the system to run direct from the memory slot? The laser in mine has died and this would be a perfect work around.
