After ALOT of trial and error and advise on this thread and forum my f900bt is working.Still a few bugs I need help with though.
1) I cannot adjust volume. the forward/back and voice commands all work but it will not turn volume up or down.At first I though it could be firmware related, but it is doing the same on the 3.1 fix.I even bought a Pioneer remote to use as an alternative but it wont work either(dont think this unit supports it) I have opened the unit up and checked the ribbon cables and they are secure and properly seated.havent had any luck trying to find the part number for the circuit board with the volume control on it.(Ibelieve Pioneer calls this a keyboard unit)Can someone tell me if this is right and where I might purchase one?
2)Headunit will not recognise my ipod .The ipod in question is a 80G classic and I am using the proper Pioneer cable with the AV1 setting set to "ipod".So far I have tested continuity of the USB cable and it checked good.I assume there should be a 5V feed from the headunit but they all read 0.9 V.I believe the software of the Ipod is 1.1.2.Does it need the 1.1.1 software to work proper?(i dont really want to put a earlier version on my ipod if I don't have to as I have read a bunch of horror stories on the apple forums) I also tried a nano with the same results.Any ideas?I should also mention that when i was hooking up the audio/video cables thatI had a audio set that was unlabled.I used the shorter lead set marked"audio input" the longer set does not have a tag.Should I have used the longer set?And would it make any difference on the HU seeing the Ipod?
I would appreciate any direction/help on these matters.I opologize if these have been covered in another thread, but I did the thread search for both my problems with no results.

OK,so I got a Pioneer cable for the IPOD and the deck still doesnt recognise it and it wont charge the ipod.System says the firmware version is 2.00600,yet it will not let me update to version 2.00800.Can someone please give me some direction on what to try next?Could it be that I used a backup file for a F90BT?I dont see any posts that would indicate that the volume or ipod issue could be hardware related. Also could the parking brake bypass be related whatsoever to my symptoms? The mute wire was relocated between the two black wires on the AV harness and then connected to the parking brake wire and the to the ground wire and to chassis ground

After ALOT of trial and error and advise on this thread and forum my f900bt is working.Still a few bugs I need help with though.I can not adjust the volume and The HU will not recognise my Ipod even thoough AV1 setting is set to I pod. This may be because I could not get a CD-IU230V cable locally so I bought a Scosche sneek peek composite AV cable.see here http://www.scosche.c...ch/product/1622 I assume this may be my Ipod concern.Has anyone used this cable with any success? As far as the files that got me this far I used the most up to date Testmode v2.3,wrote the SDMLC file,A backup file for a F90BT.( bought the unit bricked and this was the only backup I could find),and finally updated the firmware to 2.00600 from Pioneers website as well as the bluetooth V3.3 also from Pioneer.Major thanks and props to everyone for much needed info on this site.So can someone tell me how to get my volume restored? So close and I really like what I have seen with this unit so far.(being the HU I took out was an N3)Thanks in advance

Could someone tell me how long it should take the HU to start after all this is done?Let it sit after i reset it and went back five minutes later and it was at the same screen(pink pioneer logo)

I am interested in a response to this as well as I am wanting to bid on a F900BT with what seems to be the same issue

Just wondering if anyone has tried using the SIR-PNR2 sirius radio tuner with the F900BT?I see the deck has the IP bus connecter like my N3.Need to know if it will work,or if I should just sell it with the N3.Looks like I will have to get another ipod cable as well because it looks as though the CD-IB100II wont work with the new unit

Just got a CD-VC1 voice command pack for my N3 and cannot seem to get it to recognize it.mic is hooked up to the back of the deck>when i try to turn on voice recognition in the nav settings menu it will not let me select it.Pioneers site says it is compatible.Any one have a similiar issue and what did you do to resolve it?

Ok,so I checked for AV harnesses on Ebay and to my surprise I found one for sale that the picture was just clear enough to make out the wire colors at the harness and rewired mine to match.Hooked it up and it worked!!!

First up ,Hello all I am new to this forum and have to say this is a great site!Just aquirred an N3 and installed in my Silverado. The person I bought it from did not have the system extension harness so I purchaced one from the local Pioneer dealer.$80 later I am happy and go home to install it .The catch is the harness is not marked except for the visual in and out RCA.as far as I can tell the the non fading sub out is the red RCA set, which are the two farthest on the left of the connector if looking at the connector when plugged into the headunit .Only one RCA (red ) has a signal and the other appears to be dead.inspected the harness carefully and there are no apperant broken wires and the more I look at it ,it appears to be an aftermarket one based on comparison of the quality of the harness on my AVH series. Is there a site or resourse that I can get detailed pics of the harness to see if mine is wired correctly?Any help would be appreciated

Just thought I would update what I found in case anyone else was having similiar issues. The volume issue was the board for the volume button and the ipod not working was solved with replacing the usb cable for the ipod(although the measurements i took with my DMM proved out)Had to purchase another headunit not working on Ebay and the cost was only $75.Best part is I still have other usable parts if anything else goes wrong.Kind of dissapointed with the lack of reponse on here. Not one person offered help at all
