  1. I have been a Pioneer owner since 1978. I have always trusted their products and have thought that they are unrivaled in auto stereo. Lately though I have come to the conclusion that Pioneer obviously is only concerned with releasing the newest products without giving a thought to supporting the previous sold line of products. I will not upgrade to the latest AVIC product again. I have owned 3 generations of the AVIC and am tired of Pioneer's answers as to getting support to compatiblilty issues with my peripherals. They charge too much money for each upgrade.

  2. I use an Otterbox Defender case for my Iphone 4. Works very well with the Pioneer cable. No issues whatsoever.

I apologize if this has been covered before. I have done several searches and have not found anything in forums that address this so I'm posting a new question.

I have an iPhone 4 with an "incase" two piece phone case. I have the Z130BT with the Pioneer Cable and the cable does not fit through the charging port on the case.

Currently I have to remove the lower half of the case to hook the cable up. Not the worst thing in the world but would prefer not to have to.

I could drill out the slot on the case but my case is old and I'm looking to replace it anyways. I could also trim down the plastic on the cable's connector but really don't want to to do that with a $60 cable. My luck I'll ruin the cable.

Does anyone have a case that is compatible with that cable?

  3. Well, I decided to pay the cost for the CNSD-210FM upgrade for my AVIC Z120BT Nav unit. To say I was disappointed in the map content would be quite an understatement. I was hoping to get updated map data in my city and county. My street address and street have existed for 6 years and was not included in the 2011 Tele Atlas map update. Neither is the main street that has existed since March of 2010 that runs adjacent to my neighborhood. Is there a way to access the OS of the unit to see what map version is actually installed on the unit to verify that Pioneer actually put upgraded maps on the SD card? Is there any recourse with Pioneer to get a map that is really updated? Thanks.

  4. I haven't been able to get AVIC Feeds to work on my Z120BT in any way. The icon on the unit is always grayed out even when I have my IPhone connected via the usb/iphone connection. The website for AVIC Feeds is almost no help. I have installed the software to my PC and the app to the iphone. Any ideas?

  5. Ok Mustangs 05+ use the Output Shaft Speed sensor(OSS) from the transmission to the PCM and then the VSS is a network item. So you can tie into the OSS signal at the PCM. It is going to be pin #3 on the transmission harness at the PCM connector. It will be dark blue with yellow tracer. I attached a picture of the connector you need. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how it turns out. Do you happen to know if there is any voltage on that wire?

  6. I finally finished installing my Z120 today. What an awesome unit. Much better than my D1. I played around with the Ipod adapter and my iphone4. Works like a champ. I can play video from my Ipod. I was even able to stream Netflix video through the adapter. Pandora plays great though I had a difficult time figuring out the interface. You have to start the regular Pandora app on the Iphone first before it will connect to the Nav unit.

I did have to reset my amp input levels since the direct audio output of the Z120 is 4v where the D1 was 2v.

The scrolling is a little touchy. If you aren't careful you will select something you didn't intend to select while trying to scroll through menus and lists.

I will spend tomorrow morning putting all my car panels back in place and will then take some photos to post here. Thanks to everyone that helped me with the info I requested.

  7. I only have the Ford factory service manuals for a 2004 Mustang so this may not be relevant but maybe it didn't change for 2006.

    2004 Radio

Premium Radio - 16 pin connector - no VSS signal present

Mach 460 or 1000 Radio - 24 Pin connector - The VSS signal is pin 14, (WH/OG) wire.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, it did change. Everything I've read indicated the VSS is under the hood somewhere. That's the $64 million question.

  8. I know this topic has come up in the past. I have searched the forum, but have yet to find a definitive answer. Does anyone know if the 06 Mustang GT has a VSS wire? If it does, where is it? Has anyone installed the AVIC-Z120BT without connecting the VSS wire and what was your result? Thanks.

  9. Are you saying the connectors are different? I wouldn't try changing or splicing them. If they are the same, it probably will work. Why don't you test it with the old (installed) one first. If it works, you're Bob!

BTW, it really isn't critical, or important, where you place the antenna. Mine is under the hood (OK it's a mid-engine, so technically its in the front trunk). For a front engine, it would be like attaching it to the firewall next to the wiper motor. It works fine completely covered with the aluminiuum trunk lid.

The connector clips onto the end of the wire. It is removable on both antennas. I have swapped them already, but just want to know if the antenna is compatible and wont over-volt the gps receiver.

  10. I currently have a AVIC D1 Nav unit. I am installing an AVIC-Z120BT. Can I use the D1's GPS antenna. My reason is the new antenna cable is too short to reach my current GPS location in the rear of my car. I can change the connector between the two. The cable is of the same manufacturer but I don't know if the antenna is the same. The D1 antenna has the letters EDE under it, while the Z120 antenna has the letters JGS. Don't have a clue what they stand for.

  11. I have one connected to my Z120, it works fine for XM Radio. However, XM Nav Traffic hasn't been supported in a long time.

When you connected the XM tuner to the Z120, did you connect the red switched power cable? Are you using the IP-BUS to connect the tuner to the Z120? Lastly, I previously connected the GEX-P10XMT to my AVIC-D1. I just upgrade to the Z120. Do you get full station art and song info on the Z120 screen?

  12. The maps you have are the latest. There wont be a map upgrade for that unit until around this time next year. All upgrades are done with an SD card. There stored on internal flash memory.

Yeah, I assumed that the maps would be the most current. I just wanted to know how they would be updated. Currently use a DVD to update my AVIC -D1 and the disc must be in the unit to use Nav.

  13. What? Use the fade/balance. It does the same thing.

Set the fader to the front left speaker while playing some music. If it plays out of any other speaker, it's hooked up incorrectly. Do the same thing for the 3 other speakers. I don't see why you need a special CD when all you have to do is this.

Never mind. Wrong board to ask this question obviously.

  14. Why not just move the balance and fader to each corner of the car?

That doesn't test the individual audio tracks. If the unit is not wired correctly you will still get sound out of each speaker but not necessarily the correct track from the original source format. I need a cd that will broadcast a test tone for each channel independently. ie: front left, front right, rear left, rear right, and sub woofer. Hopefully we have an audiophile out there that knows what I'm talking about and can steer me in the right direction. Thanks
