  1. Hi, does anyone have the location of z120bt firmware update? I just bought unit, it has 2.0000 on it and I want to upgrade but it is not on Pioneer website anywhere and tech support just keeps telling me to call parts and have them send it to me... :(

The torrent in the stickied forum post for the Z120BT firmware has the 2.0003 update. Click on the rar file, extract it, double click on the torrent, and only check off the "SD2" Folder, so you are just downloading that extra update. Then upload that folder labeled "Firmware" to the root drive of your SD card. Then go to your bluetooth settings on the nav screen and click on the 'update firmware' button. Afterwards, make sure you run the steps above (Posted by RonS) to get check the REAL firmware version. Going to settings and checking it in there will only show the 2.00000 (EVEN if you have the 2.0003 update).

  2. haha i would return it too if it wasn't installed in my car already. I enjoy the Z120BT firmware update/UI refresh which makes the HD Radio aesthetically pleasing, but just as useless as on the Z120BT software... Once more HD radio stations populate maybe I will use it more, but for now, this source is never selected for me.. I don't listen to normal radio after having an iPod/USB connection and an SD card for music/movies...

  3. Its not built in on the 130. It is add on. And it has already been confirmed we will see a 130 upgrade for 110/120/920 units.

i'm glad about the 130 upgrade.. pioneer page:

  4. vblue-- there are times when getting it from ebay is a good deal... i got a JL audio 250/1 amp that retails for 300 for 62.99 plus 11.00 for a squaretrade warranty. Thats 74.00 for a whole amp plus a one year warranty, and if it breaks in that time, i get my 100% full money back from the pawn shop that's on ebay with 100% feedback that sold it to me... but yea you are right now, with electronics, it is so easy to get burned, but if you look hard enough, you can find great deals! On my z110bt though I bought it brand new from amazon.com and got the full rebate back.. paid less then 800 total brand new!

  5. First of all, the SD will not read if it is not in FAT32 format. NTFS is a better/faster file system without the 4GB file size limit, BUT it's not compatible with this and that is the default format usually. So FAT32 (what Windows 98 was on btw.......) is the only file system it will read. Google: "format SD card to fat32". You will find several ways to do this. The card isn't defective if you actually copied the files on there on your PC side.

  6. I doubt that. Its not a problem on other units.

OK... then how come it worked fine on my 3gs with the same bluetooth/ios firmware and the only thing that changed was the phone that was connected to it (3GS -> 4)? Anyways, this original post was on the original firmware 1.000 -- I just completed the Z120 update though...

Now i'm on 2.003 using ShortFuse's cracked firmware/3.11 bluetooth firmware. I made a friend test call earlier and pick up with the nav screen and then switch to iphone speaker on the iphone 4 and... NO ringing! I -think- the bug is gone with the new updates. I updated screen firmware then bluetooth firmware immediately so i'm not sure which fixed it but it is definitely not ringing anymore when someone calls me and I pick up from my phone, then switch to phone speaker (on iphone 4). I will test more tomorrow and post a confirmation for all that have had this problem that the updates have in fact, fixed this bug.

  7. Well like you said vblue, the naming scheme does suggest the same port will be used in the back. Since there are no hardware changes AGAIN for the third year in a row, I guess they are going to use the existing port that transmits the same type of data to an existing port that will no longer work since the msn direct tuner has less then one year left to live... I own it and personally think it sucks and is a waste of money. Hopefully we -can- get the 130 update along with this new traffic tuner to replace the Beta-like tuner that never really works all that great.

    Also...

On pioneer's page it says " Built-In Traffic Tuner " for the AVIC-Z130BT... rather then "included traffic tuner"..... hopefully we can still use the add on component that comes out for the X930...

  8. yea i read some of it but i was just wondering if it was confirmed yet. I just actually did the Z110 to Z120 SD card update. It says the Aha Radio service is only going to be compatible with the X930/Z130 only so I'm wondering if a new piece of hardware was added or not. If it doesn't, then hopefully the Z110/Z120 can be software updated to the Z130...

  9. So my question to this is.. Does this mod work 100% If I do the crack exactly right, will it upgrade my z110bt to the z120bt w/ the upgraded maps? I have the torrent from a long time ago, right when it was uploaded.. I'm worried that if something jacks up, I'll be sitting on a $1300 paperweight. Thanks guys! I did look through the whole topic, but it seems as if theres a lot of bricks getting made and a lot of confusion.

the answer to your question is yes. it works. perfectly.

and to the guy above that wants pandora link on his ipod TOUCH in the car... -> Think about it. You are in the car driving, and you turn on your ipod touch and go to PandoraLink. Where is your internet coming from? Exactly. You are in a car. There IS no internet connection...UNLESS you have Edge 2G/3G(hspa,hspa+,etc.)/4G(LTE,etc.) So therefore, you have three options.

    1) Jailbreak your iphone and install MyWi 4.0 in the Cydia app to create a wifi hotspot out of your 3G internet connection. Then go to settings -> Wi-Fi -> MyWi Hotspot

    2) Get a MiFi device (Like Verizon's MiFi 2200) which you simply turn on and it creates a wifi hotspot.

    3) Dump the ipod touch method for pandora link and directly hook up to your iphone which has a 3G internet connection (AKA data plan) you can use on the road.

  10. felixgun - thanks for the reply, but what I meant was, can the Z110BT play .avi files straight from torrents without conversion? Just copy to SD, stick it in, and it plays?

And by DVD Menu support, what I mean is can I rip a DVD into AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, then copy those files to SD card, and the Z110BT can play them with full navigation of the DVD menu?

With my current setup, I have a WD TV Mini connected to A/V inputs and I control it using its IR remote. It's not entirely convenient, but the WD TV Mini will play DivX and Xvid .avi files right from torrents without any kind of conversion, just copy to flash drive, plug it in, and it plays. WD TV Mini does the same with DVDs when AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS are copied to flash drive. I am also able to plug in an external HDD to it full of ripped DVDs and play them individually. It supports DVD Menu so for DVDs of TV shows, I can select the episode I want to watch or use scene selection. I was hoping the Z110BT would have those kinds of features built in.

No the .avi files straight from torrent -> straight to SD do not play without conversion.. I personally have tried several (I have lots) just to make sure it wasn't that one .avi, and still nothing.

If you rip the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS from a DVD and stick it on an SD nothing will happen (including using the full navigation of the DVD menu which would be awesome). The only time you can use the DVD menu is when you are actually on the DVD input of the Z110bt. Otherwise you have to use the controls on the SD input. The SD file formats are very limited. If you rip the full uncompressed DVD and then convert to one of the "working" formats (according to the manual), it MIGHT work... depending on what tool/program you are using to convert.

I also looked at the WD TV Mini and yes all of those features would be awesome in the Z110 but none such features exist. I would get one but then I would have to find a place to put it in my tahoe and i've run out of room behind the dash from all the extra components (HD Radio/MSN Direct/etc) and doesn't look like that would fit in my glove compartment where my iPod touch/USB ipod cable goes. Plus you would have to get an AC/DC converter plugged into your battery/ugly external cigarette lighter charger to plug in to run it for the extra power. How exactly do you have yours set up in your car?

  11. Answer the call then switch it.

Thats exactly what I do... I receive a call -> pick up the call on z110bt -> **ringing stops over the speakers ** -> switch to either speakerphone or iphone -> ***ringing starts back up again over the speakers (while talking to the person on the other line!) ***

    Anyone else experiencing this issue?

  12. I too noticed the terrible quality of FM radio and installed HD radio. Equally terrible.. when it is on a digital station the volume of the station goes down and does not sound any clearer. If I could take it out of my car and return it, I would. If you are in a city with a lot of HD stations then it might benefit you, but if you have three digital stations (like I do) and the quality is still terrible, it probably won't be worth it to you!

  13. I first had an iPhone 3GS hooked up to the z110bt and had no problems making/receiving bluetooth phone calls. When I got my iPhone 4, I disconnected the iPhone 3GS bluetooth connection and "registered a new bluetooth device". As soon as I did it, my phone rang through my speakers and I picked up through the screen. Worked GREAT. Improved mic quality from the 3GS (at least thats what the person on the other end says). BUT as soon as I switched to phone or speakerphone (vs. bluetooth audio connection), it immediately starts ringing again like I never picked up the call! So when I don't want everyone else in the car listening to my conversation, I constantly hear the ringtone come out of my car speakers... anyone else having this problem or have a fix for it? I've already tried disconnected and re-registering the device...

  14. Thank for the advice. Mine was letting me control the volume, but now that I think about it, it must have been something the installer did. I bought the PAC remote kit to run the steering wheel remote and had it installed the day before I loaded the update. I made one call, and noticed that I did not have volume controls. I may go back and see what he did because it was definitely working before he installed it. I figured it was something with the update.

He also did something to the bypass, somehow came disconnected when he was installing the PAC. Had to turnaround and have him fix it. Maybe that was it.

When I installed this screen I also did the PAC-os4 and PAC-swips (onstar/Bose and steering wheel controls)... I also did the parking break adjustment to view videos while not in park. Could this be causing the volume control from being changed while on the phone via Bluetooth?
