  1. 1. VR when accessing contacts to make a phone call is a bit iffy. I get about 75% accuracy. I say "Call Karen Cell" and sometimes it comes right back with it....other times I can say it 2-3 times over and over when being prompted and it cant figure it out. That said... 2. The thing is *MONEY* in every other application. Everything from "Play artist Iron Maiden" to finding addresses "Find 3445 NE Vaughn Street", to changing the source, etc., are essentially perfect. Given this I wonder if some of the issues people are having with VR lie on the side of the smartphone? The only tim
  2. Hi guys. I had the installer install the optional XM radio tuner. I went to XM's website and registered the radio using the XMID, but I am only able to tune 3 channels: 000, 001, and 247. Is there something I need to do to gain access to all of the channels within my subscription? Thanks!
  3. VBlue - you are absolutely right. The $70 is to cover the cost differential in the camera. The one they installed literally cost $35. The one they are upgrading to is $110. I am just paying the difference in camera pricing. I am a litte ticked becuase I talked to the installer on the phone a couple of times during the intall to answer preference questions. They should have pointed out that the camera sucked then and saved us all the hassle. But...as long as it all gets worked out in the end.
  4. Question - the intaller routed the USB cable that came with the unit to my glovebox. This provides a USB port into my glovebox. To this I attached an standard Apple ipod cable and my ipod. All of my library info, playlists, album artwork, etc. is visible on the HU, but I get no audio. Do I need the PIO/USB-50V?
  5. ok.... So...there was a mixup with my order at the shop. They somehow got the idea that I requested a backup cam integrated into a license plate bracket. They thought I had made that a requirement. As such...the only cam they could find that fit the bill was a $35 P.O.S camera. They were not happy about installing a crappy cam....but the customer is always right...right? They are replacing the license plate cam with a ~$100 cam that will have much better performnace. Will cost me an additional $70 or so....but the performance is so bad now I am willing to pay the difference.
  6. Yeah...I sampled a few more titles last night. The only thing the screen seems to struggle with is pure black like the background of the FBI warning, or the black strips on the letterboxing. Not a big deal....when 'Saving Private Ryan' was playing in full screen mode it actually looked pretty good. Plus...since I had the unit professionally installed they wouldnt do the parking break work-around...so...not like anyone will every be watching video on that screen anyway I am still going to inquire about the noise in the backup camera image....I will let you guys know what I find out.
  7. Hi. Just had my Z110BT installed by the company that does aftermarket installs for the dealership I bought the truck from. Lots of things are fantastic....but two issues have me scratching my head wondering if this is normal, or if I have an issue with the install. 1. When watching DVD video on the Z110BT screen the black letterboxes (black stripes at the top and bottom of the screen) show a lot of noise. It looks as if the screen is struggling to reproduce pure black. There is some noise in the picture itself, but it is most noticeable in the pure black letterboxes. Anyone else s
  8. A. I am not an installer B. I have never done an install But...I was PMing with a guy with an '08 Tahoe. And I have been talking with the guy who will be doing my install on a 2010 2500HD. 1. Entertainment unit - not sure about this one, although I would hope GM would have used standard AV cables...but nothing else is industry standard on the vehicle. 2. Backup camera - the guy with the '08 Tahoe was unable to use his stock GM camera. His installer told him he had to use an aftermarket camera becuase the stock camera was not industry standard. 3. Mic - again, I asked the shop
  9. I am having my Z110BT installed this weekend. I am having it installed becuase the truck I just bought (2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD) did not have the in-dash navigation or backup camera I wanted. I couldnt find a truck that exactly what I wanted - so I need to go the after-market route. I am really nervous about it for a couple reasons: * Complaints about the AVIC's BT sound quality on the toubleshooting forum. The stock BT in my truck works perfectly. Sound quality is amazing on both ends. * Complaints about the Z110BT's VR. Again, the stock unit in my GM works great and under
  10. One thing to keep in mind - PAC-Audio recently came out with udpated versions of the SWI-PS harness for steering wheel controls. Older versions support fewer functions than the newer 1.6.7 (added BT functions) and 1.6.8 models (added VR functions). Your installer may have used an older version of of the SWI-PS, but even so...you would still have more than 4 functions. Sounds like he was just lazy.
  11. Excellent info guys. I wanted to figure this out before installing and programming so I can get it right the first time - and not have to re-open the dash and re-program because I was unclear what could and couldnt be done. I will lose 3 function from my previous settup - but I am coming out way ahead I think the trade-off will be "Answer/Hang Up" vs. "Menu Up / Menu Down". Mute is not a big deal for me. Thanks again.
  12. Right, BUT: There are not enough unique buttons because some buttons have multiple purposes. My current (factory) steering wheel supports 10 functions: 1. Menu Up 2. Menu down 3. Volume Up 4. Volume down 5. Source 6. Track advance 7. Answer phone 8. Hang up Phone 9. Mute Audio. 10. Voice Activation I only have 7 buttons on the steering wheel On the GMs the "Menu Down" and "Hang Up Phone" functions are the same button. Also the "Voice Activation", "Answer Phone", and "Mute Audio" functions are all the same button. http://origin-chevrolet-prod-iad.pnangi
  13. Hi. I am installing the Z110BT into a 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT Diesel. I have purchased the PAC Audio SWI-PS to carry over the steering wheel controls for the new head unit. On the Chevy's steering wheel two buttons are doubled up. The "Answer Phone" and "Voice Recognition" are a single button, and the "Down Menu" and "Hang Up" buttons are doubled up. I confrimed that you cannot map the SWI-PS to multiple function. So - my question: Is it possible to answer an incoming BT phone call on the AVIC Z110BT in any other way than the green phone on the touch screen? Can you ans
