  1. If the pin breaks, fish the pin back, plug it in, and hotmelt it in.
  2. There are too many threads on the same subject - but yes do it, research it, it is easy. I would think if you can do the bypass, the install is pretty much a no brainer - which means - why have someone else do the install????
  3. What didn't you like about it II understand there is no source labeling) - what all were the engatives? How did you switch between sources (powering the unit up/down?)? TIA!
  4. That is part of the question - if it does kill the AM/FM form the source, then would you just put in a switch to enable/disable the analog tuner (power it up selectively)? I've read a few posts where HD may not always be the way to go - just wondering if anyone has played around with this setup....
  5. I fully understand you need the module (MDT10). Just looking for install advise - and weather to use a Y cable to support both the MSN module, and the HD module. Also - looking for advise on if others use a Y splitter to allow HD radio and standard radio - and how that seems to be working for them...
  6. Couldn't find much on this topic - I'm looking to add HD radio and MSN. Does the MSN connect through the HD module - or just the standard antenna port? Also, should I use an antenna Y cable to plug into both HD and the standard antenna jack - to allow either to be used? I think I've seen that some run both HD and analog (for traveling, etc)... Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA
  7. in a new Gen (III) Prius, put the thing, and after connecting the antenna amp (which is needed), still see reception that is not as good as our other cars - yes - the Prius has bad reception - but I have run a random Chinese radio in one that gave great reception. The Pioneer is average. Has anyone had reception issues? Did HD help? I know Pioneer says do not y signal the HD radio, but I'm thinking that may make sense (this way you can also just switch to analog when HD is on the fritz)??? I'm just trying to tweak the thing to work - changing hardware (car antenna) is out - this h
  8. As the previous poster explained, move your antenna. I found for the new Gen Prius, I could just stick it to the top of the Nav. But - when I added XM, the XM did not like it on top of the nav (when moving) - so I moved each to a nice sky friendly location (meaning they can watch the stars - not meaning they can watch "stars" such as BamBam kitty).
  9. Background - I do many posts at priuschat.com - and previously had one of the first 'foreign (Chinese knock off)' installs on a 2010 Prius (you had to buy a special $120 surround from the UK and out in a 200 x 100mm HU). Loved the HU for the most part, fully hacked, WinCE5.0, great navs (your choice) - and it plugged into a Toyota - meaning *no* wire cuts or mods. Programming steering meant you pressed a button on the HU, pressed the steering button, and assigned it. No PAC SWI, came with a remote (no PAC WRI) 800x480 display, and generally a good product - all for around $550. Totaled my
  10. I'll just throw in my $.02 on the mod. There is a picture of the side of the connector (the wire you are moving). It shows a small square 'cutout' that was pushed in. After pushing this in, a staple at the base works great to lossen the wire. That was the key for me - then move the wire, and follow the instructions...
  11. New install - 2010 Prius (likely same as other Toyotas). The antenna has a gray wire running next to it - does anyone know how this relates to the antenna amp built into the car? There is one - my last 2010 Prius, I put in an aftermarket Chinese thing - and after shipping back to me, it worked great (before not so). Clearly there's an issue (almost no AM, and little FM - in a large So Cal market - Orange Co). Just wondering what to do................. Bump that wire with the antenna to 12 VDC????
