Ok so I just installed the Ipod cable, and now every time i connect my iPhone 3g to the cable, a message comes on saying it's updating the VR and it takes about 3 minutes or more every time I connect it, why? and is there anyway to avoid this?

The system's is 3.020100 and the map's is 02.000500 which my understanding I just need the map's update

I just recently bought the Avic-X710bt and installed it in my Vehicle, now I'm trying to update the system but it will not update, I'm doing everything the install update instruction says but it will just not update it, I've already made sure that the system that it has is not the one up to date!!! help please how do i get it to update? when updating it will let me know it's updating right?
