  1. I have the same problem also. I tried the filters with the audio in and they made it worse. I tried grounding to the RCAs like in that thread and it didn't help. Let us know if you have success with anything! I got real tired of taking the stereo in and out.
  2. What could cause a very slight, high-pitched noise that gets higher in tone with the press of the gas pedal? Even if I turn the radio off, it is there. It doesn't matter what mode it's in. I did not have the noise with the previous factory JBL radio (Toy Highlander 2006). The unit is grounded to the chassis. All functions work properly, including the pin hack. I do have the HD radio unit installed as well, and the backup camera. Thanks for any thoughts.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. The pink wire by the arrow in the picture turned out to be the right one. I simply stuck the reverse wire into the little socket with the pink wire and moved the stick to reverse and it came on, so I locked it down with a vampire connector. Works perfectly. The wires from that connection lead to the back of the car. I also fed my camera's wire back along that path. (actually, I fed it forward along the path). Having steel fish tape is key for that part of the process.
  4. Problem is, I just don't see any red/black wires back there and am starting to wonder if I'm looking in the right place. There are other wires further up behind the area pictured, but they're very hard to get to without risking neck/shoulder injuries!
  5. Toy Highlander 2006 limited with JBL. Trying to install x920BT with camera. Trying to hook up reverse wire. I've searched and read the answers to where the reverse light is, but I'm still confused. Here's a picture of what I see behind the driver's side kick panel, with an arrow at the only 14 pin connector I can find there. This connector has one pink wire, but no red wires on either side. Can anyone tell me if I'm looking at the right connector/pink wire? Thank you very much!
  6. I'm wondering about this also. Would it make sense to tap into a different line rather than the reverse/backup light, so that I can have the camera always on, or on whenever I do something else (like turn on fog lights)?
  7. Thanks, but no such luck for me. Didn't find a loose connector behind my radio in my 2006 TOY Highlander Ltd/JBL. So I'll have to keep trying to find the VSS and reverse wires separately. I wonder how useful is the VSS wire, how much impact it really has on the GPS? Obviously, standalone units dont have a VSS attachment either. Maybe I'll just skip the VSS.
  8. How did you know the VSS and rear wires were what they were? I have a TOY Highlander 2006 Limited with factory JBL, but not the factory Nav, so I didn't think those would be there, but maybe they are? That would certainly help me, since I haven't had luck figuring out where those wires are. Thanks.
  9. I think this is the crummy TeleAtlas / Tom Tom navigation software. This is the one huge downside with this unit, IMO. I live in MD and traveled to Toronto this past week by car. My standalone Garmin had the trip 2 hours shorter than every route selectable on the Pioneer. Huge difference, obviously. The main issue was the Pioneer refused to recognize the use of Route 15, no matter what options I picked. Also, the unit refuses to use basic streets around my home, such that I could be 10 minutes from home and the unit says 30 minutes and wants to route me the longest way possible. The str
  10. I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander with JBL stereo system that I'm replacing the head unit. Wondering if I should use the JBL amp that came with the car or bypass it with the amp in the x920BT? Anyone have opinions on the quality of the amp in this unit, especially versus the JBL amp, or would other aftermarket amps be better? Thanks!
