  1. I'm reluctant to guess since the older models are different than the Z150. But ignoring the DVD region issue, you might be able to pull off installing the EU firmware/maps (the F50BT version) by just replacing the CARDINFO.CIF file on the EU update SD with one for a US Z150. Here's CARDINFO for Z150 from the 2016 update - the year shouldn't matter. Courtesy of nezfotnemom.

I don't see any F50BT update images posted. I guess you could by one, but there's no guarantee it will work.

i try update but update stoped to 98% ..pioneer is blocked and ask for sd ...how can i relolve it, please ?

Your problem is caused by something is wrong with the update SD. Very possible that you didn't use the correct password when you unzipped the file. So some files are missing. This advice has been posted here many times.

If the map update fails to complete and you are stuck with a wrong or incorrect SD or similar message:

    • boot into testmode.
    • go into file maintenance
    • remove the file USER\SYSTEM\Download\StartKnd.log

This will kick the unit out of upgrade mode, and it should restart into regular mode on next power up (remember to remove the TestMode SD). You should still be running with your previous firmware and maps.

@RonS - ever done one of these with a bad SD reader? Like through the usb port? I have an x920 that I am trying to update the maps on for a friend.. Wont read any SD cards.. I have tried all dif brands.. Boots from USB find but I do not know how to force this update through usb? Any ideas?

Sorry, never tried it. If it boots from USB (do you mean into testmode?) seems like you could try copying the upgrade files into the root of and empty memory stick.

There's also the possibility of using Force Program Write in Testmode. I think you can specify the source device as USB.

Upgraded from a X710bt to a x920bt in an older Miata that has a power antenna.  The 710 unit used a blue wire for antenna control and in the settings you could select whether the antenna was controlled by regular power or when the radio function is in use.

The 920 has a blue/white wire for power that simply powers on when the key is switched to on or accessory.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to re-gain the function of controlling the antenna by selecting radio as the source audio?  I use the radio less than half the time and those power antennas are hard to find and expensive so I only want to activate it when I need it.

I have it in ANT CTRL in  AV System Settings (Power or Radio).  Since I have a traffic tuner, I set it to Power. But my antenna is just a wire in the windshield, so nothing to wear out.

Allright RonS, the update was succesfull! Thank you for the info! It went perfect with the new cardinfo file!

I however still get a startup screen which states the following: 2009 Pioneer corporation and 2009 Tele atlas, i noticed that the menu is nice and new, but the card still look like they used to, version is 7.0 in the menu, so i guess everything is ok then? Updating Bluetooth now.

The splash screen doesn't get changed. You wouldn't want it changing if you had a custom image.  You may be able to refresh it manually in System Settings/Splash Screen.

If you were running firmware v1.x, there would be big differences and new functions (Pandora and AHa). Don't forget to update the Bluetooth firmware in the BT settings. It uses this same SD image.

Hi everybody, i would like to upgrade my f10bt with software 1.0 to the 2017 software and maps, what are the correct steps to follow please? Thanks in advance! I tried the shortfuse hack and that worked great, then it says turn off unit and insert sd with the 2017 update, which i unzipped on a formatted sd card, but it doesn't do anything then? The unit just starts up again as it was.

On your map update SD, replace CARDINFO.CIF with this one.

Thanks Ron, yes this diagram came from my 981 2012-2015 Service Manual.

Thanks for the tip on the Brake fluid cover, I don't think 987 is that different from the 981, it should be in the same location.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Al

Pin 38 in your wiring diagram looks promising. I checked my 987 diagram and it looks comparable to my pin 19 (both BRN/WHT and go to a module on the right side of the frunk).

To access you'll have to remove some of the liner plastic trim. Probable just held by a few screws.

Yes, thanks.  It's a 2013 Boxster.  According to my wiring diagram,  White/brown is Terminal 31.  There are 4 wheel sensors coming from the wheels into the PCS control unit, but I can't find them.

I have a 987.2. so your 981 wiring may be different.  Is that a 981 wiring diagram?  I have printed instructions from the EuroMotorSpeed kit. It says to remove the cover over the brake fluid reservoir and you'll find a black 46 pin connector with all the wires for ABS. On mine, it was the BRN/WHT wire going to pin 19. Your's looks different. Basically, any wire that pulses when any wheel rotates will work.

This message is becoming a problem as it remains on the screen blocking the actual MAP for the entire journey and I can't find a way to clear the message.

    Any Ideas?

Maybe if you stated the model and yr someone could tell how to connect VSS to a pulse wire. Hint - it is in your ABS harness below the brake fluid reservoir. Probably White/Brown for Porsche.

  10. Doesn't work (never has). From the manual section regarding rear display settings:

    Quote

Each touch changes the settings as follows:
! Mirror AV: The video on the front screen of
the navigation unit is output to the rear display
! DISC: The video and sound of the DVDs are
    output to the rear display
! iPod: The video and sound of the iPod are
    output to the rear display
! AV1: The video and sound of AV1 are output
    to the rear display
! AV2: The video and sound of AV2 are output
    to the rear display
-- When “Mirror AV” is selected, the following
restrictions are applied to rear display.

    — When selecting “Rear View” in the map
    display, nothing is displayed.
    — All sounds cannot be output for rear display.
    — When playing back video files on the external
storage device (USB, SD), the video image is not output.

When “DISC” is selected, the following restriction
    is applied to rear display.
    — When a CD or MP3/WMA/AAC disc is
set in the built-in DVD drive, only the
    sound is output.
p When “iPod” is selected, the following restriction
    is applied to rear display.
    — The video image and sound are output
only when the corresponding setting on
    “AV1 Input” is “iPod”.

Being proactive on a ipod classic issue I'm having with my Avic head unit, but are there any external hard drives I should stay away from that I can connect via USB? I've got a couple notebook drives I've got in external cases I'm going to try, but the first one I tried this morning (not one of the notebook drives) was not able to communicate with the head unit. I got a USB error on the screen

A spinning hard drive might require more power than the HU provides.

Also, check the owners manual appendix for limitations on format, size, and the number of files.

How can I update my F930BT to firmware V7.0 without updating the maps? If I have the latest firmware, maybe I can then look at hacking some maps and installing that on my unit.

    Cheers!!!

I have no idea. I don't think it would even work (new firmware with old maps). They are built together.  Also I don't think there would be any noticeable benefit. Keep in mind that 2015 maps aren't exactly obsolete.

Maybe someone with F series hardware has been able to install a 3rd party app (such as igo). I don't get involved with that.

    Hello RonS,

I have been reading your posts and I was wondering if you can help me out. I have a pioneer avic-f930bt currently on firmware version 3.0 and possibly 2011/2012 Australia maps. I am hoping to update it to the latest firmware and maps. Would you by chance have Australia maps available that I could install with firmware v7.0 on my unit? It would be great if you could help me or point me in the right direction. Just FYI... This is my first pioneer unit and I am a total novice in this.

Look forward to hearing from you on my request soon.

    Cheers!

    Gangs

Nope. No idea about Aus maps or where to get them. You might have to find your local Pioneer web site and buy them. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

  14. Although I can't read the message, I've never seen that screen. I have two thoughts.

    1. It is possible that commando's navi.exe file did not patch all the calls to "nag" screen instances. You could manually copy my patched navi.exe to both prg0 and prg1.
    2. Sometimes weird things happen after a firmware update. You can do a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for ~30 seconds.

If neither of those fix it, I've got no ideas.

    my headunit history...

    Hardware Z110BT

FW / map updated to 120, then 130

I also had the nag screen removal. Never saw it again.

I updated to the 2017 maps today. Works fine.

Performed the manual delete/copy/paste to perform the nag screen removal. Still saw the nag screen. I think I replaced the file in the wrong folder. Completely missed the part saying "if the file is not present...."

Performed the script that commando provided.

The nag screen no longer appears while booting or when going to the nav screen, but I still see it when I browse to my ipod (via Pioneer ipod cable), just the first time. Luckily i only appears once, until I shut it off and turn it back on again. Was this expected on this version of the nag screen removal?

I have the same hardware (Z110) and i use a wired iTouch with the 30pin connector. I have never seen a nag screen using my iTouch. Are you using the iPod app (source) or are you using App Mode?

What do you mean? how is your iPod connected? Did you try AV System Settings/App Connection?

Can't open Display to insert SD Card anymore...

Hey guys, i just tried updating my F20BT following the guide here and got an "Wrong SD" error towards the end. No big deal i thought and wanted to delete the progress via Testmode in order to restore back to my old version as advised here. I got back to my car and suddenly wasn't able to insert the SD anymore, leaving me with the message "No SD available. Insert SD to proceed.".

Does anyone know how to force the F20BT to flip the display? Is there some button combination or little hole through which i could force it to open with a pin?

Hope someone can come to the rescue and help me...

Hold the eject button for about 5 seconds. You might need to cycle the power while holding the eject.   BTW, if you got that error you did something wrong. Do not modify any files on the SD except cardinfo.cif (if necessary).

BTW, the instruction in that link are to restart the install. The way to abort the install is - put the super testmode.key on a SD or usb, put that in, and it should boot to testmode. go into file maintenance, and remove the file:
      USER\SYSTEM\Download\StartKnd.log
this will kick the unit out of upgrade mode, and should restart into regular mode on next power up (remember to remove the TestMode SD).
