  1. So I decided to reply to pioneer and this is what they said.

It is possible that there was an issue with operating system on the unit

prior to the update. Therefore when performing the update there was some

form of sector error which resulted in this issue.

Now if I was dealing with a computer, a boot sector error would be easy to fix but I have no idea how to manipulate the inside of this thing. So, does anyone have a clue on how to fix this or an experimental way I can fix this bad boot sector error.

I wouldn't have any faith in Pioneer help desk to diagnose this. They can't even handle simple things. Assuming you are still stuck with the tuner error, it could be a hardware or software problem. Not as simple as a boot sector error. I recommend sending the unit for repair. But a unit that old might not be worth the expense. I'd look at replacing it with newer unit with new technology/features.

  2. Update:  Tried a factory reset.  Only difference I noticed was the annoying button beep. LOL  I ran a fresh shortfuse hack, and attempted to redo the update to no avail.  Put Testmodekey on an SD card and went into directory for user, but the PRG.FLG file wasn't there.  I watched the YouTube video and saw it clear as day on his screen, but mine was missing.  Any other ideas?

At this point, I'd be willing to deal with 2010 Maps if I could get the system back to original before the 2012 & 2017 updates.  Or maybe just find a way to reinstall the 2012.

OK, I didn't realize you'd installed the 2012 update.  That's why no PRG.FLG file. The unit has two sets of files under USER. PRG0 and PRG1. Initially they are identical copies and PRG0 is the "active" one. Each successive map/app update alternates between the two directories. So 2012 overwrote PRG1. And 2017 overwrote PRG0. The way the boot loader knows which one is "active" is by the absence (PRG0) or presence (PRG1) of PRG.FLG.

Initially PRG.FLG didn't exist, so PRG0 was "active". When you installed 2012, PRG1 became "active" and the installationer created PRG.FLG. Then you installed 2017, which overwrote PRG0 and deleted PRG.FLG.

PRG.FLG is just an empty file. So you might try making a file on your computer and copying it to /USER. It is worth a try, and if it doesn't help, it can easily be undone.

  3. I've tried to install the hack, but when putting the sd-card in my F930bt it says:

    "caution!

    Test mode failed starting!

    [tun off acc]"

The sd-card/slot works fine when I put mp3 file's on it.

I have no idea why it failed. Looks like you will have to do the manual method. You don't need to patch/edit your RenewallFlib.dll file. use the one that came in the script zip. Download and extract  Supertestmode. Copy that Testmode.key to your SD and insert in the Avic. Test Mode should start. Go into file maintenance, then delete the existing RenewallFlib.dll files from  both APL folders (\USER\PRG0\APL and \USER\PRG1\APL). Then copy and paste the RenewallFlib.dll I included into both APL directories. Good luck - Testmode is a pain to use for many of us.

  4. Hi Ron S

I did what you said I ran the script after I put the card with the update which had the Firmware, Update, Cardinfo, Testmode.key, scriptExec.ini, RenewalIFLib.dll folders and when it reached 93% I was told to put the correct SD memory card. May I put in my SD memory card only the Firmware, Update, Cardinfo folders?

    Thanks

The hack is installed. The map installation is not part of this thread. Your problem is with the map update files. Discuss that in the F-Series 2017 update thread.

  5. Hi Guys

i have the F10BT and I took the following steps:

I downloaded the ShortFuse i unzipped the 3 files, saved them on a SD memory card. I ran the testmode to my unit. The Testmode saved to my SD Card the Renewall Files (RenewalIFLib.dl0 and RenewalIFLib.1dl0) and i cange with HxD the 4 values with the 00 50 A0 E3 and saved again to my SD card. I have copied only the two Files to my SD Card. I put my SD Card to my unit back but did not do anything on the unit.

What am I doing wrong? Should I put the other 3 files on the card from ShortFuse?

    Please help me!

    Thanks

Ready the 3rd paragraph (in red) of post #1. The hack was already installed by the script. You are done. If you use the script, you don't edit the files. Just go ahead and install your map update using PASSWORDPASSWORD for the Pioneer password.

  6. Yes he does not have the ND-TMC10. I will check out the PRG.FLG option and report back. .

Sorry nezfotnemom, old thread - but we've got another Z110 throwing this error after the 2017 update. Also doesn't have the traffic tuner. How was your buddies problem resolved?

  7. Cool thank, I'll try it out. Quick question though. How do I get out of testmode once I'm done making these changes? I'm wondering if the very first time I went into testmode if I did something wrong. It says press the navigate button or what I'm guessing is home on my unit to exit. This allowed me to get out of the file extension I was looking in back to the main testmode menu. So I just took my SD card out and turned my car of. Is there a reboot sequence I can use? I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have done that, but I figured everything would be fine since that's what I did after installing the short fuse hack and updating the maps.

To get out of testmode I just eject the SD then turn off the ignition. I've never found a way of gracefully exiting.

  8. No it hasn't. I knew better than to do that. Ok, so my SD card should look like this?

    TESTMODE.KEY

    PRG.FLG

Then I just copy this text document file from the sd card and paste it to the path I deleted it from correct?

Yes, but it is a pain to do because TestMode is so un-friendly. I just remembered, I wrote a script that will do this. Just download and copy the included 3 files to SD, and insert.

    PRG-FLG-Script.zip

  9. It can be an empty file. Doesn't really matter since the presence/absence of the file is all that matters. The case of the file name doesn't matter since windows is case insensitive.

Oh, another cause of that "no applicable program" error is installing Condi's Hackmode. Has that ever been installed on this unit?

  10. Path: USER

    ..                                         .DAT

    PRG                                    .FLG                                AR

This is roughly how the menu looked and the letters highlighted in red was the only thing I deleted. What software do I use to recreate this file?

I hope there are also directories named PRG0 and PRG1. If not - game over. That "no applicable program" error means the unit can't find NAVI.EXE which is in both PRG0 and PRG1. The one it tries to load depends on whether PRG.FLG exists. If it is not there, it runs the files in PRG0, otherwise PRG1.

To create the file - on your PC open a text editor like Notepad and immediately save as PRG.FLG.

  11. Ok, that wasn't to painful. I deleted that file. After I rebooted, I got a message saying that no applicable program is available and the unit won't do anything after that. The only thing I can do is use the SD card to go back into testmode.

Sounds like you deleted more than just one file. There's no way deleting just PRG.FLG would cause that. If it did, the file is easily replaced. It is just an empty file indicating which of the two latest software versions to load.

  12. You may be able to back-out the BT version buy installing 3.10 and then the 3.32 you got from the 2017 maps. The Bluetooth firmware update function does not seem to care if the version is older than the current one.

Are you still getting the tuner error message?

If you want to go back to the original Z110 software, you will need to use TestMode to delete (or add if necessary) the file /USER/PRG.FLG. You will need to download and unzip http://mybyteideas.com/x9310bt/supertestmode.zip, then copy TestMode.key to an SD and insert it. Once your unit reboots, you will see a menu. It is too complicated to explain here. There is a Youtube video that does a decent job of showing how to use TestMode (mistakenly called HackMode). Ignore any instructions about installing HackMode. There's nothing to install for true TestMode.

Once you see the TestMode menu. move the cursor to File Maintenance. The user interface is horrible but once you figure out what keys to use, you should be able to navigate through the file system, then select and delete /USER/PRG.FLG

    Firmware.txt

    FIRMWARE310.zip

    FIRMWARE332.zip

  13. The only issue is - as I mentioned above, you are supposed to  update BT firmware in 2 steps: 2.5 to 3.10, then to 3.32.  Unfortunately, the FIRMWARE directory that was posted is 3.32. There was a separate SD shipped with the update that had 3.10. So I don't know if that will cause you BT problems in the future.

As far as service manual, you have and always will have a Z110. However, you might want to download and use the Z140 operation manual. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVIC-X940BT_OperationManual030212.pdf

  14. I tried both of your suggestions but I'm having no luck. I also don't have the msn direct tuner installed. Would it be ok if I did a restore factory settings and do a reinstallation of the software?

Go ahead and try a factory reset. I doubt it will fix the problem but it is simple to try and you've nothing to loose at this point. Are you saying that you disconnected the gex-p920xm?

Rather than trying to re-install firmware, you might be able to go back to the previous version by going into testmode and deleting /USER/PRG.FLG

If that file does not exist, then you should create an empty file on your PC and copy it to /USER.

  15. Yes it is the first time I've done an update. I didn't install the system so I don't know if the msn traffic tuner was installed. I do have the XM tuner gex-p920xm installed and I didn't buy an accessory for msn direct so I shouldn't have it.

The original Z110 had support for the MSN traffic tuner. That support was removed when the Z120 came out and it causes this error. So, it appears that the headunit thinks you have that tuner. Make sure it is not installed. I'd even temporarily unplug  the XM tuner. Turn the car on and see it it clears-up. If not,  disconnect your battery for 30 seconds. This will reset the unit.

BTW, I hope you read the 2017 release notes for instructions on updating the Z110 BT firmware. It requires a 2-step process - first updating to v3.10, then to 3.32. I don't know what problems could be caused by skipping this. But since they went through the trouble of adding a separate section specifically for the Z110, it might be important. It may even be causing this tuner error.

  16. I've done the update and I'm getting a "system restart due to tuner error". How do I fix this?

Is this the first time your system has been updated? Do you have the MSN traffic tuner installed? If you bought the car with the headunit already installed, you might not be aware that the old tuner is installed.

  17. it have i many time try no succes on my F930BT

i have one request from where will get CARDINFO.cfg ?? i have download the map 2017 sould i use this CARDINFO??

    second:

on my 3. point wiche hexeditor:

    • Offset 000019F0:  0350A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3
    • Offset 00001A10:  0350A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3
    • Offset 00001A3C:  0350A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3
    • Offset 00001AD8:  0350A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3
    • Offset 00001C1C:  0250A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3
    • Offset 00001C24:  0150A0E3 replace with 0050A0E3

i have only found on my Pioneer Offset 000019F0: and Offset 00001A10: and nothing other their and both PRG0 and PRG1

what my problem is only this messeg come carte sd incorrecte, inserer la carte SD correcte

what is the reason how will fix it

Just download and run the script. No need to patch your files for the Shortfuse hack. For F930BT you don't need to replace the Cardinfo.cif. Just use the one from godzilla. I don't know how it could be easier. Doesn't anyone read instructions? DO NOT CHANGE ANY FILES FROM GODZILLA's ZIP.

  18. After applying the previous recommendations ... I wanted to upload maps but after inserting the SD card I got a message

ScriptFile execute error!! please check your storage contants

    on a red background

If you can advice what in this case I do not know what I do I think I will give up and go to PIONEER.

Are you talking about the ShortFuse script? If so, make sure the SD is not Write Locked.

If you are talking about the maps, did you format the SD before copying the 3 files? There is should not be any scrip file or testmode.key on the SD - only the 2 folders and CardInfo

If you can't get it to work, get http://mybyteideas.com/x9310bt/supertestmode.zip, unzip and put TestMode.key on a SD. This should boot into TestMode. Go to file maintenance and delete USER\SYSTEM\Download\StartKnd.log

  19. in the file 2017 update after unpacking the zip and entering the password 'Dracarys' I have only 3 files:

    FIRMWARE

    UPDATE

CARDINFO which turns CARDINFO.cif file from ayan

    I do not know if I should remove USER \ SYSTEM \ Download \ StartKnd.log ???

thank you for doing so much for me

Only delete USER \ SYSTEM \ Download \ StartKnd.log if you give-up trying to install the update. Then your old firmware/maps will be used and the update will be aborted. At least you will be able to use the radio.

So, you should be able to copy the two directories and Cardinfo.cif to the fresh FAT32 SD. Do not change any other files.

  20. Ron if I copied the files according to the ayan instructions - and the files should I remove RenewalIFLib.dll from PGR0 and PRG1 ??

And if uploading radio maps do not want to enter a password it is ok or at this stage there is something wrong?

Do not remove any files. It does not say to remove any files in the instructions. But you must replace CardInfo.CIF because you have an F920BT. If you removed the RenewalIFLib.dll files, the update will fail. If you did, then you must go back and run the Shortfuse script.

  21. Ron I did everything as described by ayan at http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/82391-avic-f10f20f920f9210f9220bt-evrope-maps-update/page-3.

However, after the whole operation to point. 5 I did not turn off the radio as I wrote from point. 6 and there is a message installer files not found. Is SD/USB still in device

You are doing something wrong. I can't tell what from your message.  Find a friend who is good with English and have him help you. The instructions are very simple but you must understand English.

You only need to install the Shortfuse hack one time. Follow the instructions from step  5. Make sure you use the correct password to unzip the map files or files will be missing. After step 8 you SD should only have Cardinfo.cif and two directories: FIRMWARE and UPDATE

If your radio has errors with updating it might be stuck in update mode. There are simple instructions on how to fix it in the Shortfuse Hack post #1 http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/83535-map-update-hack-using-shortfuse-method-z110-z140x920-x940/

  22. in the instructions nowhere was the idea was my password hanging ... but it was successful

... where I find those peaks with these maps and soft

I have no idea what you are asking. So obviously we can not communicate. Maybe you can find someone here who speaks Polish.

However, the point I was making on post #166 was:

"I recommend unzipping the map update from godzillz again. Be sure to enter the zip password 'Dracarys' including the single quote characters. If you do not enter the password correctly, some of the files will not unzip and the installation will fail."
