  1. I have a 120bt and when I put in a mp3 cd and I hear up to the 3rd track. I then turn off the car and when I select to play the mp3 cd it starts off on track 1. I want it to start off on track 3 were I left off. How can this be set? Thanks.

I haven't played MP3s from CD in a long while, but I think it should remember and continue from the last track. I know it does for SD MP3's.

Are you changing the audio source in between? That might make it start over at the beginning.

Sounds like it is being reset when you turn the unit off. Is the clock correct when you turn on the ignition again? Are your radio presets remembered?

If not, it might be because both power lines are being switched off with the ignition. The yellow wire must be hot always to retain the AVIC's memory.

  2. I have a avic d3 and want to upgrade to a hard drive based headunit i was looking AVIC-X920BT ,AVIC-Z3 ,

AVIC-Z120BT. please give input but the headunit must be able to have ipod/iphone controls and be able to watch videos from them..

The Z120-BT and X920-BT are not hard-drive based, and I don't think the Z3 is either. What do you need the HD for? On these units, the maps, OS, and applications are stored in non-volatile NAND (4GB). You can store media files on either/or an SD card or a USB jump drive (not HD). I use the ipod interface for my songs and videos most of the time.

I really dont think you want a hard-drive based system. They are not that good in a moving vehicle and are subject to head crashes. Solid State is the way to go.

  3. Did anyone solve this? I asked the exact same question a week ago and not one reply. I really enjoy looking at all the cool things the talented ones out there do, but i am bummed that after i joined and hoped to utilize the cool upgrades, no one will help me figure out why the sd card error keeps doing exactly as descibed in this post. I am now on the verge of buying the upgrade just so i can have my system back. Please help anyone who can solve this 58% then error issue.

Maybe its because the same question has been asked and answered so many times. You expect a different answer?

How can anyone here know what you are doing wrong with so little info?

Unfortunately, many of those posters never follow up with what fixed it for them.

So, other than repeating the exact same advice, my response is go back and try again. Read the instructions and make sure you understand every step. Either you have missed something, or you have a hardware problem.

  4. A few weeks ago I started getting this pop up every time I turn on the navi. "Caution: Track log memory is 90% full. Im guessing It has to do with the SD card that I use for playing music. Any ideas how to get rid of it or what it is? Ive also attached a picture.

    Thank you

    Ermal

Yup. Turn off logging in the Navi settings. If you are interested in seeing the logs (and everywhere you've been in the last few years) insert the SD into your PC and run AVIC FEEDS (download from Pioneer if necessary).

  5. Hi guys,

forgive me i'm new at this.

so i followed the guides and i'm on an iphne4 with cydia. i got the tv out app and ran it on the z110bt (running 1001) it seemed to work well but since i did it my ipod function has gone down. it shows the ipod and all but no sounds comes out of it till i switch to the av1 which is where i set up the app. can anyone kindly tell me if there is a solution? otherwise i will delete the tvout app and see how that goes.

    many thanks

Just a guess....pg 143 of z110 manual, "Change Control Mode" needs to be set to Navi for normal iPod functionality. If you are playing iPod apps, set it to iPod.

And, AV Source should be iPod.

  6. Ok I am at the OS2.0 update on my z110bt. But when I open the file for "c:uploadsCNSD-110FM-SD1" There are files labeled part1 part 2 part 3 part 4 and only part 1 will unrare with the files

j:Firmware (folder) plus all the content of the folder

j:Update (folder) plus all the content of the folder

    j:CARDINFO.cif (file)

So I transfered these to the sd card and inserted after doing part one.

When I try and update after about halfway it states wrong sd card please insert the correct one. What did I do wro

First, you did download all 4 parts, right? You only need to unrar the 1st part, they are all linked within the archives, so if you used WinRAR, it will extract all the files into a single folder.

Just to be sure that you have all the files on the SD, insert it in a PC and check Properties. What is the used size of the SD?

    It should be 3.6 GB.

Try again, maybe with a different SD.

  7. How can I install a custum screen?

I hope it wouldn't be considered rude to point out that it is on pg 163 of the manual. There are some Porsche screens that look classy in the home forum under Custom Backrounds.

That is the screen you mean, right?

  8. Pardon my ignorance; I wasn’t aware that you needed to be an electrician or an installer to be on this forum. Obviously, I do not know much about these things (which is why I posted the question in the first place); I wasn’t sure if a “splitter†like used for headphones would work going the opposite direction. I believe you answered that question for me, thank you. Furthermore, I am quite certain there are many subjects that I know more about than you (common courtesy as an example), but I would not post such rude responses to someone looking for assistance.

I am not an electrician or an installer and I was not being rude. Maybe a little flippant  .

You need to lighthen up dude.

But if I go posting questions like "which side does the fork go on" on the Miss Manners board, you go ahead and chide me. OK?

  9. I had a z120bt installed in an International MXT (mini Big Rig) a couple months ago. Because of the air brakes/multiplex system... it was HIGHLY ADVISED not to touch the Parking Brake system, and to bypass it. My installer (now OOB) did a great job and I had no issues at first. I recently had some major work done, thru the dealer, that required removing the battery, motor etc. I got the truck back yesterday, and while everything looks the same.. the unit has an unbearable beep with every button I push, and when I go to System settings, all but 2 options are grayed out.. I cannot access the system settings to even do a reset. I cannot pair my bluetooth or anything. and Im not sure if the 2 issues are related.. but im getting strange feedback, and speakers turning on/off when the radio is on. I am aware of the firmware update, Im not sure if I have the most current firmware or not, but again I cannot access anything to even update it.. HELP!!!

Sounds like the AVIC was reset due to the battery being removed. That explains the beeps. It is annoying. The only way to turn it off is through the settings menu. But your big problem is with the bypass. It is fairly simple, read the instructions on this forum. It sounds like the bypass wire (probably the mute) is no longer grounded. Might of happened when the motor was removed/replaced. The AVIC's ground is the black wire. Your installer probably followed the bypass instructions by moving the yellow/black mute wire over one pin, and grounding it. Some people just ground both the system ground (black) and the yellow/black together. So it might be that your whole unit is not properly grounded. That might explain som of the other wierdness. So check that both wires are connected to a good ground. That should do it.

BTW, make sure that your engine block and the battery have a good ground to the truck's chassis. The motor mounts could be insulating it. But I suspect you'd have all sorts of other problems if that were the issue.

  10. Thanks and yes I understand about it just changes the settings between day and night right now all I get is the option for day time, I need to connect the orange wire to a different source, now I will try and find that source on my car. Thanks

I ended up running the AVIC wire back to my tail light housing. Although there may have been a closer place to tap, it would have been a pain to find buried in some wiring harness under the dash, and the back of the taillight was a sure thing. Just make sure it isn't the brake light or turn-signal.

  11. Hi all,

I was doing the update when it got to asking for the second sd card. I accidentally cut the power to the unit by opening the car door. On restart, the unit has a blank screen. I disconnected the battery and tried again. No luck. Any ideas?

It doesn't ask for the second SD. That is a separate step. So I'm not following you.

When I checked about 20 minutes later it was done with the first sd and I opened the door. That's when the power went off. Never thought that would cut the power, but it did nonetheless.

Wait a minute. You said it was DONE with the 1st SD, so it wasn't in the process of flashing. I don't see how shutting the unit off at that point could brick it at that point.

Are you sure it is getting power now? Maybe a fuse flew?

The 2nd SD has nothing to do with the Z110 - Z120 update, only Parrot BT drivers.

  12. The auto dimming does not work on my 120, installed on a 2008 corvette. It appears the orange wire is the dimming circuit wire do I need to provided a constant 12 volts on this wire or does it need to be tapped into a wire that is hot only when the headlights are on?

It needs + voltage when the lights are on only. BTW, this isn't a dimmer circuit, like your dash lights. It changes between the daytime and night-time setings. They can be customized by holding the Mode button for a few seconds.

  13. I know we have all talked about this, but I was wondering if anyone with a GM product has tried using the Onstar microphone?? More specifically "splicing" into it and using it for both onstar and avic? I did a search and did not see any posts about it being done like this.

That sounds like an exceptionally bad idea. Could blow out both systems. If not, the impedance would be all wrong. Never heard of two audio drivers using the same mic wired in parallel (or serial).

OTOH, go ahead and tell us how it works out for you

  14. I'm evaluating the Pioneer Z120BT and I can't say I'm thrilled with the iPod interface...

Most of it is pretty fast but I dislike the "cube" animations because it just slows down navigation between the menus and if you want to skip a song it takes a full second or two for every song. Therefore, if you press the skip track button a couple of times in a row it will lag for a considerable amount of time.

    Very disappointing :(

Then don't use Music Sphere, it isn't required. Even without it, the Z120 ipod interface is still one of the best. And, other than the lag in firing-up Music Sphere, I don't notice any objectionable lag in skipping tracks. It isn't as fast as directly using the ipod buttons, which is understandable since the touch-screen press must be validated (they screen interface must be desensitized somewhat to eliminate errant touches), and forwarded to the ipod - which also has some lag.

  15. Hi All,

In the past I have addressed the problem with my Z120BT Bluetooth. The sound quality is absolutely a disaster.

I have moved the pioner mic from the left side to right under the mirror, renamed my phone, use 3 or 4 other phones to pair with and called several people on multiple carriers, put tape along the opening of the mic.. EVERYTHING...NOTHING Helps, it stinks, It sounds like I'm under water to the other party. I hear them well enough too.

I have done everything I can possibly do including renaming the phone, every possible setting, volume up and down on the handset and on the AVIC..

I know this is a Pioneer problem, but is it a firmware Issue? (How do I know my firmware version? Is there a newer firmware which tackles Blueooth problem ? Has Pioneer addressed this? What's the ultimate solution?

Is it a mic problem? some have said sugested using a garmin or Parrot Mic.

I saw a parrot MKI 9200 system and a dealer said he'd order that dual mic to test with my Pioneer, but first he'll call both pioneer and parrot to see if it can work with the 120BT.

Is this problem solveable ?, has anyone gotten their 120BT to work with stellar voice quality over Bluetooth. I'd hate to have to give up the touchscreen on my pioneer and spend $200+ for a parrot complete system.

My current phone is an HTC TP2 with sprint.

ALSO, can a 120BT show my photo contacts that are associated with my phone's call contact list ?, or just the caller ID name and number?

By the way I just checked, my latest BT firmware version is 3.11 and system is 2.0

I just want my $1,800 120BT to work propely with bluetooth, so that I'm heard by the other party.

Thanks so much for any help.

    Jeff

If you haven't already, you should download and install v2.003 from the Pioneer web-site. According to Pioneer:

"This firmware update (version 2.003000) contains important improvements addressing Bluetooth

    Hands-Free and Voice Recognition operations."

Exactly what the improvements are is anybody's guess.

As far as BT phone quality, I'd call mine about average. I've had worse. Don't expect it to be pristeen. About like talking on a speaker-phone in a noisey environment - which it is. If you prefer/require high quality - equivalent to a wired handset, get a good headset.

  16. that did it thanks!, for noobs like myself i suggest a general thread topic "clock adjust AVIC z120bt" cz its not so obvious thanks again

Yeah, thats why it comes with a big book with an index. You aren't serious, are you? If we had a sticky thread for every setting/feature, then, you know what they'd call this site? An OPERATION MANUAL.

  17. thanks i did this whole process yesturday and interface looks nicer, only thing about it tho im not sure if anyone else had this issue. My clock / GPS was correct before the update and now its incorrect. Although Navi works fine with current position etc, the clock is wrong and its pretty annoying how it relies on GPS for time. Is there a quick fix? please dont say its a "dashboard-take-apart-disconnect-cable" issue. I mean its only the clock but id like to have it correct u know? lol

Did you ever try the user manual? Download the PDF file so you can search quickly, instead of relying on us.

Is it just the hour that is off? If so, make sure it is set for the right time zone, and the DST setting is correct for where ever you are located. You adjust by touching: Settings / System Settings / Regional Settings / Time.

  18. Here is what I have:

    [*]Exact model - 911 turbo

    [*]Year- 2002

    [*]Existing Head Unit -CDR24

    [*]Existing Speakers -Bose

[*]Existing AMP/Sub- stock amp no sub

I don't see a bezel/cage for 2din 2002 911's. So that will take some skill and customized work. A pro should be able to handle it, but I doubt you will find a pre-made kit. As far as wiring, a CDR24 -> Z120/110 has been done many times. Check some Porsche boards. Same with the Bose integration. Some people replace the Bose amp and/or speakers. Others have made it work with the stock Bose amp (I think I recall that right). Since Bose wasn't an issue for me, I really didn't bother following those issues. Sorry, your best bet is to go to a 911 board. I like Planet-9. P 9 911 Electronics sub-forum

That's about all the help I can provide. Good luck and be sure to post a follow-up w/pics when you are finished.

  19. Hello,

I am installing the AVIC Z-120BT into a porsche 911 turbo.

    •
    • If there anything I need to know in gerneral?
    • I need to move the A/C dash controler below the new Pioneer nav unit. As anyone done this and is there anything I need to know.
    • How can I buy a chase that will fit in a Porsche 911 that is compatable with the AVIC Z-120BT unit?
    • How can I get the Porsche logo so that I can see that when the unit boots up. I don't want to see the Poineer logo on startup.

    Thanks in advanced.

Before anyone could even begin to help, they would need to know:

    •
    • Exact model (Carrera, GT3..)
    • Year
    • Existing Head Unit (CDR24, CDR30, PCM2, PCM3..)
    • Existing Speakers (Bose,....)
    • Existing AMP/Sub

You will need a kit including bezel, mount cage, OEM harness adapter, and depending on the above, various interfaces.

I have a 2010 Cayman, so I am slightly familiar with that year's wiring and basic factory setup. Factory Bose is a costly complication (that I luckily didn't have to deal with). I'm not familiar with 911's. However, other members have installed and posted, so search!

Here is an example of a kit that will help. Ebay link

You will find that Loi @ Euro MotorSpeed is an expert on this stuff and can probably send you specific instructions.

You can download several Porsche splash screens from this board. Such as Porsche screens

Read your Z120 manual for simple instructions on loading your custom screen.

  20. ok, i have something confusing me. the SD1 file has 4 parts to it. opened 2 of them with winrar and they are both about 3.6GB with the same files inside. do i only use part one? or did something not DL correctly?

SD2 only has the one file in it. not multiple parts. so no confusion there.

You only need to extract the 1st file with WinRAR. It will know it's a multi-part archive. If you do all 4 parts individually, you WILL end up with 4 identical folders. Just choose 1 folder and delete the rest.

I did the same thing and it had me confused too.
