  1. Hi RonS,

Does this work on the X920BT?  Sorry, if this was answered before. I browsed though several threads and read conflicting information.

If it does work, I have already downloaded the "2015 USA CANADA MAP UPDATE.zip" from here: z130bt, z140bh, x930bt, x940bt - newer units  and will follow veron_fat's steps.

    Hi,

Just wanted to follow up everything works. The download link and instructions were great and does indeed work on the X920BT. Many thanks to all the contributors and RonS for your help!

  2. I guess you people didn't read the rest of this thread. Use the Z140 link (which works - I just tested). Unzip on your hard drive, then open up the CardInfo.CIF file with a text editor. Delete all the text and replace with:

    #PioneerQPRX2MP00IUYJSO2NFRJA6QYICEG003IC1TD9OA3KWJTKXX9C3SCQX30UNCVY6O2C7W7QW14BK0OJDGF1K5X07UNCP79T4YGYNGVDX27UNCTNEPNWPBS1H4INT15XKYQ6XBLHEWPEWXN7342Q1WW8HWKXNLRWELALK6KIJU0PO17P3BF1UJXB8RHUYU9IL91RRBYIK15QVAEHTFQECMSSHF21XXJRTYY6U4XOMA7SPEUP21BCGQHT9EYQ4RV3WSUEC1JNSPIIMD61GDEYIKWC9EUCJKX8JICMVCG

(no returns or line-feeds) and save it. It should be exactly 300 bytes long. Copy it all to an SD. Should install just fine.

    Many thanks, RonS

New to here, and this is the first time to do this.

Download the Z140 file and I have modified the cardinfo.cif follow your direction.

But what the next step? should I

    1. Format a SD card in FAT32 type?  I only have a 32G ,is it OK?

    2. Copy the firmware folder, update folder  modified CARDINFO.CIF to the root of SD card

    3. Insert to the Z120 unit

    4. it will automatic update , wait to finish

is that all I need to do?

if I need to update the bluetooth, is any other file I need to download?

my unit is original Z120 with 2.003 version. toooooo old

    Thanks for help

    Hi RonS,

Does this work on the X920BT?  Sorry, if this was answered before. I browsed though several threads and read conflicting information.

  3. Thats all that the unit supports. There has never been any picture view support on Pioneer units outside of the splash screen support.

I also have a Pioneer 4200DVD and it has "JPEG Image File Playback on CD/DVD". But our higher-end navigation units like 920BT does not support it.

  4. I can't believe the geniuses decided not to have a power off button or reset function. So far I've had to turn off my engine six times (just to restart the system) in the three months I had the unit. Before any questions me, I am using their latest stable release 2.003. Randomly, the unit behaves erratically like not understanding voice commands. Many times it needs to update the voice dictionary with my iPhone. Don't know why it gets corrupted and when it does takes hours to finish. Oh, and it would be nice if the "OFF" button actually switches the source to none, turns off the LCD display (at night the black screen glows) and goes into standby mode.

Pioneer should have a real reset or power off function.

  5. Strictly speaking the Pioneer Navi works. It get's me from point A to B. In comparison, I've owned two portable Garmin navis 350 & 760 that has its flaws too. Garmins interface is nicer looking and more intuitive but I've had issues with its navigation. e.g., it doesn't give out the best routes, its logic is mediocore at best and insist you go a specific direction even though you know it's better going your way based on real world experiences.

So far I like Pioneer's navi how it shows you which lane to be in on multi-lane roads and a bar graph countdown before your next turn. And I love saying "Find the nearest McDonald." It works, fast and intuitive. That is something I cannot do on my Garmin.

  6. that seems like a fairly decent test. What phone, what vehicle, and what other aftermarket audio equipment is installed, if any? See if you can find another mic (the local auto shop sells Kenwoods for around $30) and swap them while the call is "hot" - which is probably a huge PITA, but can't think of another way to eliminate the mic concept.

I wish I had another quality mic to test it but I don't. Also, my system was installed by a local dealer and I would have to tear out the front dash again to have access to the connectors. My setup is:

    - iPhone 2G

    - 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback

    - Phoenix Gold 230 XS and Rockford Fosgate P300-1 amps, JL Audio components and Pioneer TS-3002D4 subwoofer

Again, I tested this in my garage on a quiet night so there are no road noise.

  7. Let's keep this thread on topic. You can rant or rave about your Kenwood or Pioneer in another thread.

So I've had this upgrade installed for a couple of days now. The old BT noise Pioneer "fixed" is gone but a different buzzing noise still exists. With my last firmware v2.002, my friend described it as a swooshing back and forth sound. Now it is an annoying constant buzzing sound that is less subtle. Frustrated with the performance I decided to test this myself and called my home phone while the car was parked in my garage. The buzzing noise is clearly annoying on the receiving end. To confirm it is a problem with the X920BT, I switched the connection to my Plantronics Discovery 925 BT headset and buzzing noise disappeared.

I am curious to know if the problem is due to firmware (poor noise cancellation implementation) or the crappy microphone. Pioneer are you listening?

  8. iPhone 2G with jailbroken v3.12 OS. BT works great. Setup connection once and after wards it re-connects automatically when get in the car every time. Contacts transferred over fine. I tried using BT A2DP (stereo bluetooth on iphone) and it's works but is very primitive and has static every so often.
