  1. I feel the same way! I've sent my unit back for service several times, it was supposedly replaced with another unit and its still not right!

I'm pretty sure Pioneer has lost me and my extended family and friends as future customers. I used to be an advocate of the brand and now I have nothing positive to say about them. I cant recommend them to anyone and feel good about it.

Pioneer....sorry you've done it to yourself!

  2. I'm having a few problems with my x920bt since going to ios5! No ipod music, I can see the display on the screen but I cant hear anything. No Pandora. It just stays paused. No video. The image shows on the screen and only plays for a milisecond and then pauses.

I sure hope they get this fixed! I am not very happy that this unit has a pretty crappy GPS (indicator not displayed on screen correctly) and now this. I'm loosing faith in Pioneer.

  3. Just fix the damn map/vehicle indicator accuracy and I'll be happy! All the OEM units I have used over the years have been spot on! My X920BT lags behind and is not acceptable for the high dollar unit that it is! When I pass a street or bridge, I should not have to look down at the unit and it shows me (my vehicle) as just approaching it.

  4. Funny....mines has never completed the 3d Hybrid set-up phase. The bar indicator never finishes the last 5-6 bars.

If it's that far behind, either it's malfunctioning, hasn't come close to finishing the 3D Hybrid set-up phase, or you've somehow buggered the install. Try disconnecting the VSS and check the GPS screen, and just drive with it for a few days un-connected. Even with VSS not connected, mine was only around 20-40 feet shy of the target.

300 feet is WAY off. And the Garmin? If it's like my portable, it's only about 5-20 feet off, depending on what part of your car is the reference point.

  5. I have a Trailblazer SS with an avic x920bt.

I am looking for something simple with my name in it like "Tony SS" with maybe a design in the background. The "SS" would be in the same script as the SS on the trailblazer.

If anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Thanks again for the information. I hope to have the vss unhooked this weekend. This will be like my 1 millionth time removing this unit!

it is supposed to be for better accuracy, however with the varing different signals different manufactures use, it could be possible for the signal to be confusing the AVIC.

i really wouldnt worry about the reverse signal because when you not in reverse, there is nothing for the system to pick up on, so it would be just like having it unhooked

  7. This has been my complaint to Pioneer and the reason for sending it back both times. I cant believe they would just throw parts at it and send it back to me as being "repaired". I've spoken with techs at Pioneer and no one from Pioneer has told me its "operating as designed" the way its currently operating. I brought my question here when I first installed it and no one mentioned they had the same problem.

This is new software upgrade you speak of, when is this to be released. What is it going to cover? This type of display should not be acceptable for such a high dollar unit. and yes it looks really bad! I dont think the unit should have to jump several spaces forward when making a turn. it should just pivot left or right at the intersection.

VBLUE42 thanks for your earlier response.

This has been a long standing issue sense the 110. This has been reported on here many times with many users including myself. It is always several car spaces back and this is just one of the many issues that should have been addressed with the 120/920 and with the new software yet to be released. Although it just looks bad it really doesn't affect the turn accuracy sense the unit displays an overhead view at turns that is 100% spot on.

  8. Hi-

    1) the antenna is mounted on the roof of the vehicle. the single indicator always reads a strong signal. the antenna was the very first thing that was replaced.

    2) yes the vss is hooked up and the speed pules are reading a pretty high number

    3) yes is does say 3d hybrid. the bar indicator graph shows maybe 5 bars lit up and these are less than the distance bars shown at the very top

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

    1) Where is your antenna mounted?

    2) Do you have speed pulse connected?

    3) On the screen that shows the milage driven does the very last tab at the bottom say 3d Hybrid?

  9. Hi Guys-

I've had my X920BT back to Pioneer 2 times for repair. The first time they said a "controller" was replaced and the second time the "board" was replaced. Even with these repairs I'm still fighting display accuracy problems. I can be driving down the road and pass a street physically, look down at the display and it shows me just approaching the street. This is driving me nuts! I've had several OEM nav systems and have never had this problem.

Today, while driving I clicked on the 3D Calibration Status to see what my learning status is. The display shows over 400 miles since the unit was reinstalled and reset. The distance bars are about half way lit, the left and right turn bars are 1 bar shy of being all lit up, the 3D bars are less than half lit. While driving I noticed the acceleration indicator lit only a bar or two while pulling off and then a bar or two in the rear while decelarating. Should this work like this? Should the bars go up while going forward and then only light in the rear when the vehicle is switched to reverse and moving backward?

Not sure why the distance and 3D bars are not lighting up like they should. I would think after 400 miles of driving that would have been enough. I want to send the unit back but I'm tired of getting the runaround!

Any help/ comments is greatly appreciated.

  10. I sent my unit in for repairs for the nav accuracy problems and it came back the same way! They said they replaced a control module but I dont think they really fixed anything. Updated software should correct the problem. all of the factory navs I've ever owned have been spot on.

I'll be contacting Pioneer to make my voice heard. Maybe if they get enough complaints they'll fix the problem.

  11. The xm just means that is the audio source I was listening to. It changes with what ever source. I'm actually using the factory xm radio antenna, so disconnecting it does nothing.

The problem is the same with the vss bicker up or not.

My suspicion is the sensor in the unit is bad. I may just yank it out on Monday and send it back to Pioneer.

Off about 1/2 block, sometimes it's blocks off. The vss is connected. The gps antenna is on the roof of the vehicle and reads exceptional reception. I can post pics of this stuff when I get home.

Wait a second - your screen says XM - so I take it your X920 is receiving signals from two sets of satellites for both GPS and XM. It would be interesting to disconnect the XM and see if the problem remained. Maybe there's a software glitch there - anyone else with XM? What happens when the antenna is inside the car?

But still, the Pioneer guy may be on to something - aka there's something amiss with the VSS hookup; a short, a loose wire, the wrong signal (how are you getting the VSS feed - is it digital or analog?)

  12. Here are a few images from today. Is this what you guys see too? Is this normal?

My vehicle physically at an intersection

Here is the display of me at the intersection (See how far back it is)

Here is my displayed location after turning and traveling down this road (It doesnt even show me on the road. I traveled down this whole road to the location you see here. I made a right turn onto the orange road. I was surprised to see the apex of the triangle at the intersection as it should be)

Here is the calibration status screen (notice that the distance and 3D meters are not as far along as the turn meters. I havent seen neither of these past 7 or 8 lines. I have reset this a dozen times or more)

  13. You should be fine! My problem seems to be a one off. I haven't ran across anyone one else with this problem. If I could find this unit for less than $400, I would by it again!

    Good luck with yours.

geez - blocks off? What have I got myself into LOL - hopefully they fixed whatever's wrong in yours, but it sounds like its an inferior product and Pioneer doesn't want to admit it. I figure the blowout price I just got at Amazon (sub $400) has something to do with that

  14. Thanks for this information. I've done this atleast a dozen times. I do get a little more street names but when I change locations it never stays.

To get the street names to show up I use the 2D mode and then change the view from the default 0.1 mi. to 0.25 and now it shows a lot more street names. To adjust your location go to Home, then Settings, then Navi Setting, then Modify Current Location, then use your finger to move the map to where you want the arrow to be and hit OK.

How did you adjust it? I love the unit, I just want to fix this problem. My position is always off and sometimes street names dOnt show at all.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Not sure why people put the GPS in the AVIC-X920BT down so much. I wasn't real happy with it at first, but after a few tweaks, I think it works pretty well. It shows all the street names, announces turns with the street name and seems pretty accurate on short trips, I haven't taken any long trips with it yet. When I first got it, I noticed when parked at home the position of the arrow on the map was a little off, but after I adjusted it, it seems pretty good now. It still announces you have arrived at your destination maybe a hair to early, but not bad. I had (and still have) a portable Garmin Nuvi before this I really liked, but like the Pioneer GPS, so far, and it's built in, always ready to go. :)
