I'm considering upgrading from the AVIC Z3 to the Z110BT (might even buy 2). My question is about the wire harness. Are they easily interchangeable, or will I have to install a new harness?

I'm trying to figure out how to connect the HTC EVO to my Z3. Yes I know it's not out until June 4, but the connections are already known. Can anyone confirm if the BTB200 works on the Z3? That would be awesome if it did. Then I could stream music via BT (I think)

 

Open to suggestions, because I don't like just using the RCA inputs for audioo (and the EVO's video out is Mini HDMI)

How many of you are using a treo 800W on your Z3? How do you like it? I'm asking because this is my setup and I'm really dissappointed.

 

I upgraded from a treo 650 to the 800W and quite frankly I'm a bit pissed off. Many of my options that i used before are not working (at least not yet). For instance, I cannot transfer more than one contact. (Although I couldn't do that before... that was 4 years ago) Before, I could start a call on the handset and as the Z3 booted up it would pick up the call hands free... Not any more. Also, I could (before) start a call on the Z3 and then grab it on the handset (if I wanted more privacy). Not so now. There are more examples that I cannot recall at the moment. I'll edit when I remember.

 

If you have the 800W. What is your take on the relationship with the Z3? Have you foud any workarounds? This is really working me up!!!!

Well, I did notice that my cell phone does not stay connected very well anymore, but that just might be my ancient treo 650. Time to upgrade that now I suppose. can someone help me..... i downloaded all 14 files from piratebay and i try to image it into my toshiba 40gb but its keep on telling me the file is corrupted. i was able to image the other 3 images individually but cant image the first one which is the 17.52gb one. does anyone know what is the problem? hope this is not a stupid or newbie question..

There's only one "image", and if any part of it was corrupt, you'd get that message before you could do anything. So... no idea what you did.

 

How did you open the image? Did you use Acronis? If so, what restore option did you use? It seems easy enough, but if you choose the wrong options, you could have opened it as a writable image and then you could corrupt it. I would run a file recheck with your torrent downloader and make sure it recognizes all the files.

yea i know, but i have been doing stereo installations as well as other A/V electronics for about 7 years. but everyone has bad days. if your replacing the bulbs on the CLUSTER LIGHTs my cardomain might help you. i did it myself for my blazer, check it out and tell me what you think.

Oh man! That's PIMP! I think I'm too old to use that word now, but sometimes it just fits. I like it. That's exactly what I'm after. I've found a few forums that have some helpful hints for my dash mod. I even found a dude up in Ontario where the 15 and the 10 meet that does the mod on Tundras. But I do love the look. Imagine how good that will look with all blue interior lights including the console lighting. I will go with white LED lights for the door and map lights though.

OUCH! Had mine professionally installed for that very reason. I'm just not comfortable inside the dash of my truck. although I believe I'm about to order an LED bulb replacement kit and gauge kit as well. That should look pretty tight when I'm done.

 

I say let the gurus fix it and have the sucker installed so it doesn't happen again. at least if they fubar it then they will replace it.

I'm no guru by any means, but I have grabbed photos that like from around the web and made some backgrounds. I also loaded some of the logos that I found. They are all found at the links in my signature. I made this account so that anyone can upload their own stuff (the credit will automatically be associated with you). I just thought this thread was getting really long and time consuming to scroll through. So, this way one can view them all in one screen. If anyone has problems putting these together, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Thank you for the response. I was able to figure it out with a tip from Big-Focker. What I did was loaded acronis and searched for new drives. although it did not show in "my computer" it was present in acronis as a valid drive. I simply chose to add the drive to the computer and from that point on it was a cake walk. The only drawback I had was the missing step tin the security disable procedure where I had to type mhhd or something like that to bring up the menus for the later steps. once I figured that out I was good to go. Installed the Image and Sheila was alive again. I'm still going to upgrade the drive to make it a little faster, but that can wait a bit. I'd sure love to crack this music conversion issue, but I'm not smart enough for that one.

I opted to simply start from scratch with the original hard drive. It does seem a little faster to me. Not a whole lot, but I think the maps look a lot better. At least they do here in the San Diego area. I haven't taken any trips down town yet to see what they look like in 3d yet, but maybe I will this weekend. All in all, I'm pleased. Oh, and I noticed that some have said that they still get the annoying echo with the blue tooth. Mine has gone away since the upgrade. Volume is better as well. I'm a happy camper!

So lets say I have two drives. Drive A has a good sized music library, Drive B is just the naked Z3 image. You're saying that I cannot copy the music partition from A and transplant all the files directly onto B and it work?

 

Um, yes, I believe that will work. Seems very similar to the Franken-Z* process out there right now with keeping the original settings and music during the "upgrade". The music in question was ripped on the original Z* deck correct?

 

It seems the problem is in the encoding process and format. I'm actually looking into it now. Atrac was used in mini disc players originally as far as I can tell. Guess Pioneer liked it for whatever reason. Maybe so it wouldn't be so easy to rip it ourselves. Or maybe it had to do with the voice recognition searching.

wanted to know if there was any way to put music onto the hard drive via the computer instead of burning cd's and copying them that way

Not the best thread to ask in, but ...

 

research the Atrac format. that's the format the Z* rips as. It's not as simple as finding a something to rip it in the Atrac format. It has to be ripped just right. to my knowledge, no one has figured that part out. I myself have tried a few times, but could not find anything that worked. The time I spent converting and such, I could have burned a good quarter of my library to disc to trasfer as I drive around town. However, I believe there is a USB adapter that helps with this issue.

You could research that too. Let me know what you find out.

Mine did the same thing and I spent about an hour trying to get my computer to "see" the now unlocked naked drive. After that hour of frustration, I opened up Acronis, it saw the drive, I pointed the files to it and let it run. After the load was complete, my computer then saw it.

 

BIG-FOCKER you are the man! Nice tip. It seems to be working now. I'm applying the image. I'll edit this post if it doesn't work, but All is going well at this point. I only hope that I can remove the security unlock feature on the HDD it when It's all said and done. That's ultimately the endgoal right?

 

Oh, and 45 gig uplaoded in Azureus so far. Keep downloading folks. I'll keep uploading. I know that's nothing compared to Hyprite, but I'm doing what I can.

I did use the cheap method. I had no emotional attachment to the data on the drive. No, I have not put it back in the unit. I'm trying to get the dang thing to unlock. When I get back from my trip, I'm going to update to magic boot 4.5 and try again. I've thought seriously about performing a restore on it just to have the factory stuff back and just buy a new hard drive. I was just trying to save a buck. Not a wise choice when dealing with such an expensive toy/tool.

 

Any suggestions on the better software resotre options out there? I have used a few, but I've never tried to restore an entire hard drive with partitions.

OK OK OK OKAY. You guys can ignore all of my previous post. I was able to diable the security code using the correct version (can we edit that sticky on this). I have it back up and running and it says version 03.000. Is this correct? What else can I check to verify it?

 

I wonder if this is why I can't see mine when I try it. I too paid the 5 bucks to clean wipe/unlock my stock HDD. But when I rebooted, I was unable to get my comp to recognize my HDD. It simply would not see it. I even tried using my USB adapter. I'm at a conference out of town at the moment, but when I get home I will give it a shot. Good tip. We should ask them to update the stickied thread.

I thought of that myself. I have 3 pc desktops of varying age and designes... as well as 2 laptops. The laptops are both SATA equipped though. So, no joy there. The newest PC has no IDE slot. It's all SATA, and the 2 older ones did not work. I was able to get it to be recognized with the HDD unlock Wizard with the newer of the 2 (and supposedly unlocked); but after that, I have not been able to get it to load at all. mmmm, making me angry! Anyway, I'm going on a trip tomorrow. Maybe I'll be able to figure something out when I get home. Thanks for replying though.

I'm in the San Diego area. I'd like to hook up in person and have someone that has unlocked their drive already show me what I've done wrong. As far as I can tell I followed the steps almost exactly See my post on it here...

I've put in a trouble ticket with the Unlocking Guys. They're checking from their side. Anyway, I'm going out of town tomorrow and I'd like to have it back together before I leave. If someone is near by and can show me what I've done wrong, I'd be willing to drive to you. Any takers?
