  1. have you tried different apps to stream to the Pioneer other than the one you mentioned? Pandora maybe?

Pandora was removed from Appstore Canada due to some copyright issues, so no, I don't have other apps to try yet.

Using the iPhone 4, even though the play/pause, next/prev track controls are available, the album art, song name, song info are all missing. Has anyone else found the same?

  2. Well if that's the case, then ANY Bluetooth device that transmits ACRCP 1.3 or 1.4 SHOULD result in meta-tag data, aka song, artist, album info transmitting to the Pioneer Avic's screen bia wireless bluetooth, no?

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.1, but when source is set to BT Audio with the iPod app streaming via bluetooth successfully, I still don't see any meta data on the screen of X120BT.

    The only thing showing is:

    "iPhone connecting..

    Connect"

  3. AVIC Feeds related question: I can't seem to create POI's with the AVIC Feeds app by using the geotagged photos taken with iPhone 4 and saved into the Camera Roll of iphone. When I tap on the Photos within the App, it has a blank list.

According to Pioneer's website, AVIC Feeds allows: "Saved Photos - Geotagged photos sent to users or photos from the internet can be used as a POIs""

  4. According to Pioneer's website, the AVIC Feeds App features:

"Saved Photos - Geotagged photos sent to users or photos from the internet can be used as a POIs"

But, when I tap on Photo on AVIC Feeds itself, no photos are listed there. Photos saved from Safari into the Camera Roll on the iphone 4 are also absent.

So my question is, how do you use iPhone 4 to customize "geotagged photos" to the POIs?

  5. Garmin has a product (cable) that's called "EcoRoute HD" at https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=38354

It connects to a ODB II port and the other end connects to regular Garmin GPS units to transform them into a full ODB II reader, diagnostic tool, to see all kinds of info plus monitoring fuel consumption.

Just curious if Pioneer will ever come out with a "cable" like Garmin's to enable the readout information to be displayed on screen?

After all, Pioneer even calls that the "Eco" feature with some kind of distance/fuel info, which seems they are keen on implementing features like this.

  6. I read from another forum that Garmin has a new product called "Garmin EcoRoute HD" that allows it's GPS units to be connected to the ODB II port to display all kinds of cool info such as fuel consumption, carbon footprint, engine performance etc.

I know that the current Pioneer does not have a ODB II port, but is there a possible hack to display the ODB II data using one of the many ODB II devices via the external sources of the Pioneer?

One option I can think of is to use a jailbroken iPhone/iPod to run some of the OBD II apps ( http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/hardware.html ), and output the screen data to the Pioneer screen.

But ultimately the easiest solution I think is for Pioneer to develop an interface or just a simple cable just like Garmin did, to show the Eco info based on real-engine readouts, especially since car audio manufacturers seem to have started incorporating the "Eco" feature into their systems. I wonder if we'll see this actually implemented in 130BT or the 2011 refresh?

More importantly, I wonder if this is something that can be easily upgraded for current users of 120BT (affects my decision to purchase 120BT now or wait). I hope Pioneer will do this because this is exactly what Garmin did. They came out with their GPS units first, released the EcoRoute cable, and then updated firmwares to make them work with the cable.

Another wild guess, since this is Garmin technology, maybe we'll see this upgrade in the Kenwood system at CES2011?

  7. I'm about to have the Z120BT installed, and since I have no usability experience with iPod in the car, just wondering if people would recommend installing the iPod cable in the center console or the glove compartment?

I was thinking the glove compartment earlier but it is hard to reach from the driver's seat, and if it's in the console I have to open and close it by flipping the big cover which is inconvenient, so I'm really torn!
