  1. If this has been stated please forgive my repeat. For android users (at least for S3), the new map/firmware update gives you Bluetooth connectivity to the Pandora app. Once you start Pandora on the phone, you can control Pandora from, in my case z120bt, the HU via Bluetooth as was previously the case with a tethered iPhone. You have to go into AV setup menu and change the link from tethered to bluetooth though. You get cover art, artist, song and album displayed on the HU. It is supposed to work for for Aha also but I have not tried it.

    Pretty slick.

  2. It is feudal to ask why when it comes to Pioneer or any of these head unit manufactures. Kenwood recently did the same thing with their new unit and people are asking why. But we have been asking why about Pioneer sense I've been on this forum so it is likely you will never get an answer that makes sense.

I think you meant "futile" but "feudal" may be a good way to describe Pioneer...

  3. I don't have a 140bh but have a 120bt upgraded to a 130bt. The 120 loads relatively fast and displays review camera even when it is not fully booted. I have never timed it but guessing under a minute. You have "agree" to the disclaimer for the nav part (if you use it) and that takes about another minute before that app fully loads and usable imo.

I use pandora almost all the time. I have an iphone and even though I have the cable installed I normally do not use it. If you leave your iphone connected and leave it in the car while off it drains the phone battery. The Bluetooth connection handles some commands on the HU (thumbs up/down, pause/play, etc.) but does not display art. You can still control everything on the phone too.

The GPS is decent but has some quirks that irritate me. For example, you do a search for Starbucks and the first in the list may be 100 miles away. Why would I want that as a default? You can hit the sort button a couple of times and get the closest but why should I have to do that? It's not a Garmin but not bad. Anyway I use GPS Drive on the iphone connected over BT about half the time.

  4. I have a z120bt for about nine months and BT seems to be hit or miss from unit to unit. I have not had any problems at all with an iphone either on calls or with music. I like being able to pull up pandora without having to hook-up on short trip and hear in on the 120bt.

    The navigation is another story...

  5. Motion X Drive works. The app needs to support video output, very few currently do.

That sounds promising. App developers can decide whether they want to be compatible if they think the base is large enough.

So if we wanted to send them a suggestion we just need to say that they need video out to run on the 130?

  6. Pardon my ignorance; I wasn’t aware that you needed to be an electrician or an installer to be on this forum. Obviously, I do not know much about these things (which is why I posted the question in the first place); I wasn’t sure if a “splitter†like used for headphones would work going the opposite direction. I believe you answered that question for me, thank you. Furthermore, I am quite certain there are many subjects that I know more about than you (common courtesy as an example), but I would not post such rude responses to someone looking for assistance.

Okay, breathe deeply here... There are other forums with more tolerant responders but there are good people here and a lot of good information.

Interesting that you bring this up because this idea crossed my mind just the other day. If I can find it again I saw a picture of Tahoe (or a truck) with the center overhead console removed and the mic was clearly shown. I don't remember if there was a connector or not for the mic. Most mics are high impedance so it might work, but putting mics in parallel definitely affects the mic impedance the HU sees and would most likely degrade performance. I was considering moving my Pioneer mic inside the overhead console also. In my case the Pioneer mic works fine where it is near the mirror, it was not hard to route and I don't know if I want to fix what is not broken. I will post the picture if I can find it.

  7. I played with the aha app on my iphone and you can get the audio through BT audio so I am not sure what "integration" adds if you would rather look at a phone close up rather than look over to the HU. This may mean that non-iphone users can do aha over BT audio if their phone has BT audio and syncs with their HU.

Maybe the Pioneer guys can "integrate" a free GPS nav app like Waze (or some another) to give us a decent nav interface. Waze updates it maps for free and as a matter of fact uses your driving to update its map database in near real time.

  8. The navi software in this unit is the worst of all the units I have owned sense 2006. It is not setup logically for many of the features and lacks crucial features found in 200 dollar hand held units. This section of the unit deserves the most attention instead of focusing on Eco-route or the ability to speak my Facebook feeds. Also I would like to know if the add-on traffic tuner for the 930 will be able to be used with the 110/120/920 units once there upgraded with the 130 software.

I have to agree with VBlue42- fix the dang navi. The other stuff is just distracting to the driver anyway. To name a few: ability to add cust POI/Red lights/etc., POIs results that update as you move (ala Garmin), VR that works no matter when you acknowledge the navi disclaimer, VR that works, bluetooth mic that works, navi that shows side street names...

There is a list of items in the x920bt forum also.

  9. Understandably you sound quite upset with the situation. I just installed Z120BT on my Tahoe and have been told that the mic sounds fine from the three or four calls I have made so far. I have firmware 2.003 and the 3.11 bluetooth and it is paired with an iphone 4. Maybe you could try someone else's phone (maybe even an iphone) and see if they have the same problem. Another option may to return your HU for another Z120BT and see if it is the luck of the draw.

  10. I was looking at this unit but ended up purchasing a z120bt at the end of Oct before the $100 rebate expired. So no, I do not have the unit. I do have the manual but could not upload it successfully. I don't know if there is a minimum post count to upload or not.

  11. True.

I PMed Quarky42 a few days ago hopefully I will have an extra pin soon. I had to send my OS-4 to PAC to flash to 1.2.3.8b and it will take a few days. The vendor said they had the latest firmware but it turned out to be v 1.2.3.8. The "b" adds seat memory chimes and I have those so I elected to have PAC reflash since the tech was kind enough to offer.

  12. Manufacturer Part No: 63811-5200

    Newark Part No: 07M7214

    Extended Price: $246.40

You are obviously serious about your crimps. I think I will send quarky42 a PM.

I have fooled around with this type of connector and I believe I could probably extract the pin without cutting the plug but what if I decide to send the HU back.

  13. i read your post an went and bought the pins and the crimper, haven't tried it in the radio yet but it looks like it will work, the pins are shorter then the ones that come out of the pioneer connector but it looks like the important piece of it is the same, so now i have 10 pins/wires that are professionally crimped waiting to go lol (i bought 10 just incase i messed up or need an extras) i tell you what, the crimper is amazing, makes for some real nice connectors

What was the part number for the crimp tool?
