    2012 upgrade

I check out the built-in Aha app today and it works like the Pandora app does with the Samsung S3 and the Z120BT. Big improvement in my opinion- no more cables.

    2012 upgrade

If this has been stated please forgive my repeat. For android users (at least for S3), the new map/firmware update gives you Bluetooth connectivity to the Pandora app. Once you start Pandora on the phone, you can control Pandora from, in my case z120bt, the HU via Bluetooth as was previously the case with a tethered iPhone. You have to go into AV setup menu and change the link from tethered to bluetooth though. You get cover art, artist, song and album displayed on the HU. It is supposed to work for for Aha also but I have not tried it. Pretty slick.
  3. I think you meant "futile" but "feudal" may be a good way to describe Pioneer...
  4. I don't have a 140bh but have a 120bt upgraded to a 130bt. The 120 loads relatively fast and displays review camera even when it is not fully booted. I have never timed it but guessing under a minute. You have "agree" to the disclaimer for the nav part (if you use it) and that takes about another minute before that app fully loads and usable imo. I use pandora almost all the time. I have an iphone and even though I have the cable installed I normally do not use it. If you leave your iphone connected and leave it in the car while off it drains the phone battery. The Bluetooth connection handle
  5. I have a z120bt for about nine months and BT seems to be hit or miss from unit to unit. I have not had any problems at all with an iphone either on calls or with music. I like being able to pull up pandora without having to hook-up on short trip and hear in on the 120bt. The navigation is another story...
  6. That sounds promising. App developers can decide whether they want to be compatible if they think the base is large enough. So if we wanted to send them a suggestion we just need to say that they need video out to run on the 130?
  7. A Tom Tom GPS app, or Waze or Skobbler...
  8. Okay, breathe deeply here... There are other forums with more tolerant responders but there are good people here and a lot of good information. Interesting that you bring this up because this idea crossed my mind just the other day. If I can find it again I saw a picture of Tahoe (or a truck) with the center overhead console removed and the mic was clearly shown. I don't remember if there was a connector or not for the mic. Most mics are high impedance so it might work, but putting mics in parallel definitely affects the mic impedance the HU sees and would most likely degrade performance.
  9. So how did the car drive?
  10. I played with the aha app on my iphone and you can get the audio through BT audio so I am not sure what "integration" adds if you would rather look at a phone close up rather than look over to the HU. This may mean that non-iphone users can do aha over BT audio if their phone has BT audio and syncs with their HU. Maybe the Pioneer guys can "integrate" a free GPS nav app like Waze (or some another) to give us a decent nav interface. Waze updates it maps for free and as a matter of fact uses your driving to update its map database in near real time.
  11. I have to agree with VBlue42- fix the dang navi. The other stuff is just distracting to the driver anyway. To name a few: ability to add cust POI/Red lights/etc., POIs results that update as you move (ala Garmin), VR that works no matter when you acknowledge the navi disclaimer, VR that works, bluetooth mic that works, navi that shows side street names... There is a list of items in the x920bt forum also.
  12. When you have a list of POI locations (e.g. Home Depot) the distance to them should update as you are moving (like Garmin). That way you can tell if one of the locations is in front of you or behind without having to go back and forth to the maps.
  13. Anxious to see what, if any, changes/upgrades to the z120bt/z1x0bt.
  14. Check to see if the calf is stuck in the SD or DVD slot...
  15. You don't use the green/white wire if you have a SWC buttons.
  16. My wife tells me it sounds the same as when I used the Chevy OEM bluetooth which most people think is good. She says it is not at good as having the phone to my head, but sounds like a good speakerphone.
  17. Understandably you sound quite upset with the situation. I just installed Z120BT on my Tahoe and have been told that the mic sounds fine from the three or four calls I have made so far. I have firmware 2.003 and the 3.11 bluetooth and it is paired with an iphone 4. Maybe you could try someone else's phone (maybe even an iphone) and see if they have the same problem. Another option may to return your HU for another Z120BT and see if it is the luck of the draw.
  18. I was looking at this unit but ended up purchasing a z120bt at the end of Oct before the $100 rebate expired. So no, I do not have the unit. I do have the manual but could not upload it successfully. I don't know if there is a minimum post count to upload or not.
  19. True. I PMed Quarky42 a few days ago hopefully I will have an extra pin soon. I had to send my OS-4 to PAC to flash to 1.2.3.8b and it will take a few days. The vendor said they had the latest firmware but it turned out to be v 1.2.3.8. The "b" adds seat memory chimes and I have those so I elected to have PAC reflash since the tech was kind enough to offer.
  20. You are obviously serious about your crimps. I think I will send quarky42 a PM. I have fooled around with this type of connector and I believe I could probably extract the pin without cutting the plug but what if I decide to send the HU back.
  21. What was the part number for the crimp tool?
  22. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the z120bt last night from al&eds for $930 and with the rebate it will cost me $830. Santa is early this year .
  23. As long as I can send a movie to the rear I am good. But I am curious about the limitations. Thanks, Tom
