  1. I'm trying to transcode some videos for my AVIC-8000NEX (to be displayed on rear headrest screens) but I'm a little confused. The manual for the NEX says the screen is: Screen size/aspect ratio: 6.95 in / 16:9 Effective display area: 156.6 mm x 81.6 mm Pixels: 1152000 (2400x480) (this must be incorrect???) After doing some research I believe the screen is actually 800x480 (WVGA). However, this resolution is 5:3 and not 16:9 unless the pixels aren't square. I'm also confused even more because 156.6 / 81.6 is ~1.91. Can anybody help me with the confusion?
  2. Smartphone Confirm bypass for x000 units

    Does this disable WARP?
  3. I'm a little confused... I don't plan on upgrading right away, but are any of these for the AVIC-8000NEX?
  4. The AVIC Development Mod

I've been away for a while so I'm wondering if there has been any progress on upgrading the 8000NEX to 81000NEX for Android Auto support?
  5. The AVIC Development Mod

Hmmm, I don't know but I thought I read that Bluetooth does not work if you do that. (at least when flashing the AVIC-8000NEX with the AVIC-8100NEX image)
  6. The AVIC Development Mod

I'm trying to an create an image of the internal memory card (using the copy script and DD), but I got a read error: /dev/block/mmcblk0: read error: I/O error Is this normal? I think I can retry and ignore read errors using conv=noerror, but I'm not sure.
  7. The AVIC Development Mod

Thanks. Maybe with the new 2016 NEX units being released it will drop the prices of the older NEX units so they could be used for testing. I'd love to run some tests on my AVIC-8000NEX but it's installed in my car and much too difficult to remove and perform tests, etc. I did look on eBay for some older AVIC-4000NEX units but they still seem to costs several hundred dollars which is too expensive for a test/bench unit.
  8. The AVIC Development Mod

I'm going to backup the NOR and SD card later from my 8000-NEX (v1.11). Would this be useful to upload anywhere? Also, any progress on re-enabling WARP? Lastly, if you install a custom launcher, can you re-launch the NEX launcher/apps? (It sounds like somebody needs to get a USB wifi dongle working though for Google Maps, unless you use the later versions that support offline maps?)
  9. The AVIC Development Mod

Hmmm, is there any way to run Google Maps or another Android launcher on the 8000-NEX? If you can install Xposed it seems like you could easily install a different launcher?
  10. The AVIC Development Mod

Right, so is there any benefit to this crack besides map updates? (for the AVIC-8000NEX units)
  11. The AVIC Development Mod

What's the advantage for 8000-NEX users? It sounds like I can get map updates for ... cheaper shall we say? Is there anything else that would be available that is not currently available?
  12. New NEX units now 8200 instead of 8100.

Oh, hmmm... what exactly is new then?
  13. New NEX units now 8200 instead of 8100.

Wireless Carplay was definitely my #1 request ...
  14. New NEX units now 8200 instead of 8100.

Hmm... What exactly is new in these models? I'm still using the 8000-NEX and I don't see almost anything new? (except for FLAC music playback?)
  15. Naviextras map update question

I just thought about updating the maps on my AVIC-8000NEX and like most of you, it's $129 for the 2015.Q1 maps which seems insane. I thought (incorrectly) that all maps updates were free but I'm really disappointed.
