  1. So I've been an AVIC user for years and have always loved the Pioneer Navi's. I'm now in the market for a new car and with that I've wanted to upgrade to the newest AVIC head unit as well but there's seems to be a problem in the industry right now with cars that are seemingly incompatible with aftermarket head units... I'm looking for a sedan somewhere between a nice family sedan and a luxury Sedan. I've looked at 2015 Honda Accords, 2016 Maximas, 2015 Acura TLX's, and 2015/2014 Infiniti Q50's but they all seem to have some weird dual touch screen setup that at lest at first glance would seem
  2. Anyone know if the update can use a USB stick or you HAVE to use an SD card to update?
  3. Any thoughts guys? I apologize if this has been gone over before.
  4. I have the Z110BT upgraded to the latest firmware, would this new firmware work on that since they are basically the same hardware or no?
  5. Video of it in action http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/25/pioneer-appradio-hands-on/
  6. That MAY account for the cost but what about the quality? What about the low specced processor/graphics processing you get for the cost you're paying. BTW my friends iPad in dash conversion is holding up nicely in varying weather conditions and bounced around etc... so I'm not sure this has much to do with cost of HU's. Also, the iPod touches have a radio tuner in them so I also don't see this accounting for much cost... however heft is definitely a factor as you've laid it out as well as size. I just don't get why for the money we are paying, the HU manufacturers can't use modern technology (
  7. Ok so my logic is this iPhones, Android Phones, and iPads etc... are all pretty much sub $1000 depending on the amount of internal storage and yet they are 10X as powerful as the processing power in even the top flagship headunit that's out. Yet the Head Units have awful interfaces, and are super expensive... Why is this? It can't be the audio connections as those shouldn't cost anymore than $100 total in part etc.. iPads cost under $400 to make and yet they would kill any head unit in interface and speed etc... so what's the deal? Why hasn't a company like Apple or Microsoft or Google taken o
  8. Just a random question... I've never updated my Avic after the Z120 update over the summer... I know another came out and it fixed the whole last name/first name reversal issue with the phone calling but did it fix or enhance anything else? Just trying to see if it is worth updating... Have any other updates come since then?
  9. Hmm... the 9960 looks interesting indeed. How do you like the navigation on it? That's the unit that you have right? In watching the videos on their website the interface looks a bit laggy, have their been updates that fix or reduce that since it's been released, or perhaps the 9980HD fixes that? I haven't seen any vids of the 9980 yet so I'll try to find some. Thanks for your help Vlbue! Oh yeah, is there a forum like this one with kenwood HU fans that you know of and any idea if the Kenwood series are customizable/hackable like the old Pioneers used to be?
  10. Any suggestions? I want something with much better navigation as well as compensation for traffic... I want great navigation and good iPod interface... I was thinking of the Sony XNV-770BT as it uses Tom Tom for it's navigation however I haven't really been able to find good videos that show off it's iPod navigation and from what I have seen it looks like the interface for the iPod is kind of laggy Any other suggestions?
  11. Me thinks you didn't actually read anything in the previous posts. I have a Z120... When I say iPod menus, I mean the iPod interface on the HU itself not the actual iPod. Also I'm not talking abou the Z120 I'm talking about the Sony XNV-770BT
  12. Darn I was going to ask you to send a quick vid of the iPod navigation... for some reason I can't find any real vid of anyone navigating through the iPod menus... I want to see how that is before I decide to buy or not. Everything else looks great though.
  13. Do you actually have this unit or just have the manual? If you actually have the unit can you tell me how you like it? It's finally out now and I've seen some videos and it looks AWESOME
  14. I did some searching around since even though that feature isn't a deal breaker for me it would be a missed feature from my current HU. It looks like the XNA-770BT is the same as the XAV-70BT but just with the Nav added hence the N in XNV instead of the A in XAV. The XAV-70BT supports iPod/iPhone video using their RC-200 IPV cable and Sony has said that the XNV will support all the same functionality as the XAV but with the added Nav, so we should be good to go.. Man I hope this comes out so I can play with it soon. This looks like it's a definite contender in the 7inch HU arena.
