  1. Tried to search the forum, couldn't find anything. But if i missed something please just get me the link.

I have a X910BT installed in my car. i download .mp4 movies on my SD card but they play choppy as if it was buffering or something. Is there anyway i can make the file smaller without taking to much away from the quality of the video? Or can you guys suggest any other way fixing the issue? also any site that i can upload movies onto my SD card would help alot.

I had this same problem with mine. Two problems. Cheap SD card and large video. SD cards come in several classes. Get one with at least class 6...to give you good speed capability. Second, if required, re-encode the video with a lower bit rate. I recommend the Xilisoft video converter. It works quite well.

    Cheers.

  2. I don't have that unit, but I would bet that the problem is due to a cheap SD card. SD cards come in several classes...I would suggest going minimum class 6. Yea, they cost a bit more, but totally worth it for the extra speed. Additionally, you may want to try re-encoding the video with a lower bit rate. There are numerous tools on the internet to encode videos. I personlly like the Xilisoft converters...they work pretty slick.

  3. Hello everyone. I purchased my X920BT in October 2010. I also purchased the OEM Pioneer A/V cable for the unit at the same time. The unit worked great until last night. A friend of mine and I re-did my whole audio system. We replaced all 4 interior speakers, took out the existing sub box and amp with cap. Installed new sub box with a single sub. (1) JL 12W7v3, installed JL 1000.1v2 Slash amp for the JL sub, installed a 4 channel Kicker amp for the interior speakers and a Tsunami 10 farad cap. 2 gauge JL wire from the battery to JL amp and 8 gauge wire to Kicker amp. And installed Dynamat in the trunk, phew!! LOL!!!

Ok, first and foremost, my friend works for a dedicated car audio store. Not the popular stores that sell appliances and tv's. He installs car audio when the store gets overwhelmed with installs. Lets fast-forward, everything's installed and both fingers crossed. Unit turns on all speakers work except for passanger side door.

It's now 3:45am, I have to be in the office at 8am, today and he has to be at work 10am. My friend leaves and I fix the speaker connection to the passanger door. I turn the unit on and I have an alternator whine noise coming thru my speakers. I step on the gas and the noise gets louder. This has never happened to the previous system that I had. Also, my rear interior speakers are not working. There is no sound coming out of either speaker. But the JL sub is mind-blowing!!

I will talk to my friend about the issues that I am having. But I wanted to post this here and ask you experts on what may be causing this. I'm sorry for a long post. This audio equipment is installed in a 1996 Nissan Maxima with Bose speakers. But I took the speakers out and replaced them with (4) Boston Acoustic 6X9 speakers. I used the original speaker connection on the doors. The rear speakers were modified because I unhooked the black housing under the Bose speaker. How can I stop this whining noise and how can I get my rear interior speakers to work? I'm sorry for a long post, but I wanted to be specific as possible. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Ok, you've got a lot going on here. Let's start with the rear speakers. Check your amp for switches that may read 2channel/4 channel, or bridged...anything like that. Does the amp require additional inputs for 4 speaker output? I'm not familiar with the model, so I can only suggest things to look for. Now the alternator whine. This is due to a poor ground. You have multiple components, so I would check them all to be safe. Are all components grounded to the same location? If so, try grounding in multiple locations. What gauge of wire are you using...you may need thicker wire to handle the load. Make sure your grounding point is not painted...it should be bare metal. How are you connecting the ground...make sure it is a solid, tight connection...both to the vehicle and the audio components. Failing that, you can get an inline filter to get rid of some of the whine but I would put all efforts into fixing the source of the problem first.

  4. It sounds like your parking break wire may not be connected correctly...or your parking break is not engaged. Oops, I read your post again and you said that you didn't connect the parking break wire. There's the problem. That must be connected for the unit to function properly. Typically, the situation you're describing would occur when the vehicle is moving. Pioneer tries to prevent people from using the nav when the car is in motion. This can be bypassed (at your own risk)...there are many posts that tell how to do this. As for the DVD sound, but no picture...press the DVD button on the bottom right of the screen and you should see the picture as well as hear the sound. Your illumication cycling through the entire spectrum is a feature that you can turn on/off in your settings. You can have it cycle, or select one specific color.

    Cheers.

  5. My VR on my 920 doesn't work well for anything, in Nav it I have to say everything over and over and still I get "didn't get it" I end up just entering the info manually. In BT same thing if I am calling some one I have to repeat myself several times or just dial through the phone. The IPOD is the same way. I have tried muting the system and I have tried moving the microphone to no avail. Any ideas anyone??? I paid alot for this thing and I would like for it to perform like it should.

I found that when I use VR or bluetooth that turning down the air conditioning/heater fan does the trick. For some reason the airflow really wreaks havoc with this thing.

  6. I've had similar issues with my unit. Even when it would boot up, it would consistently set my destination to take me home. I'd cancel the route and it would set again seconds later. It was very frustrating, then one day I decided to do a reset (press the reset button with a pen) and held it for about 30 seconds. It's been working good since.

    Cheers.

  7. To isolate the component that is causing the issue, disconnect your amp and hook up a few speakes directly to the head unit. If you still have the alternator noice then it is the head unit grounding that is the problem. One thing I noticed on mine is that the wires in connectors don't stay in very well, so after you plug the connector to the head unit, push all of the wires in to make sure they're seated properly.

As for the amp, you mentioned that it's grounded with a big bolt. Make sure that the metal where that bolt is, is not painted or rusted. If needed, use some sandpaper to clean it down to bare metal to ensure a proper ground.

  8. Hello everybody... I just installed a 920bt in my 2010 Subaru forester.

I was wondering if anybody have any tips on removing the pioneer logo on the face plate?

is it paint on or some graphic?

i was going for a clean factory look.

I have search the forums but never got a clear answer.

I would suggest trying a pencil eraser. Works like magic.

  9. hi all. i just got x9115bt = x910bt and just finished install with bypass.

looks like everything works fine but the movie from USB lags. i did all the search but i couldn't fine my answer here.

do anyone know how to solve or is there some format that i have to convert?

The bit rate as previosly mentioned is important. One other thing is that not all USB drives are created equal. They come in different speeds just as any other memory does...including SD cards. I had the same problem with my Verbatim USB drive so I moved the files over to an OCZ USB drive and it works flawlessly.

  10. I also have problems with my bluetooth...on the X910BT. My blackberry connects to the unit, but the connection is extremely poor and choppy...to the extent that I can't understand what the person is saying. I have tried 3 other phones to rule out that possibility and all have the same result. I have been in contact with Pioneer support and all they have done is refer me to the firmware page on their site...even though I had indicated that my current firmware is the latest. They are no longer responding to any of my emails. I upgraded to this model from a D2 and I'm sorry I did. I have to say, that with all of the problems that the pioneer units are having and the lack of customer support...I will NEVER buy another pioneer GPS unit again. I just don't understand how they can release such sub-standard products...where is the quality control? Okay...done ranting now.

Anyway...if someone has ideas to improve/fix the bluetooth issue...I'm all ears. My current firmware is at 3.02. The bluetooth revision states: HW100-SW330 RC3
