  1. I have an HTC Touch Pro (ATT Fuze) and I didn't know that you could do anything other than the Phone function via Blue tooth, I have tried several functions but to no avail. Haven't really spent much time with it though. would love to know if this works.

  2. For those who attempted to help me out with the intermittent XM issue that I had... I have the problem corrected. I recently upgraded to a Z3 and when I went to pick up the truck from the shop I had no XM signal. The installer found that the P10XMT module was defective and replaced it but I still had no siganl. He sent me on my way still with no XM. For S&G's I drove the same route that I was first noticing this issue and still the same thing. Long story short I found that I had a bad module as well as a bad antenna. when I mentioned That I had replaced them both they weren't both done at the same time so I was being baffled by 2 different problems. Needless to say I have renewed my subscription to XM and am enjoying it all the way too and from work once again. Thanks for all the help.

  3. I was able to figure it out friday. I found the xm tuner behind my glove box and had to trim the wire thats coming from the roof and then trim my xm/nav tuner plug and WAHOOO! it was like a champ and i even put it where my old xm tuner was.

    Thanks for the help though

I have a 2005 Silverado LT3 and my satellite lead is too short ( I have the xm tuner under the console tray. did you use an extension? where did you install the tuner?

  4. NOw for an update on my Saga. I have since the last post replaced the Antenna and the XM module All with no help. I have pulled the Head unit back out and found that I may have missed a ground wire. That has all been corrected and I even un-did the bypass just to make sure. I get XM signal in the same places on my 37 mile commute to work every day and loose it in the same places as well. I am at a complete loss for what is causing this. The XM status screen shows "no signal" unless I am in one of those 2 places, then is shows perfect signal. Is there anyone in the Northern VA (installer) area that is familiar with these head units and would be able to lend a hand in this? Has anyone experienced intermittent reception after installation of the new -60 discs? Pls help. I am becoming desperate.

  5. I can take a pick of the end that plugs into the sat module (that's the standard one for the pioneer module. I am a little reluctant to pull the head liner out just yet. That's a lot of work without having gone to XM for a complete account review yet. replacing the guts in the factory housing isn't something that I hade thought of. Knowing those idiots at tweeter, that's most likely exactly what they did. I will try to have the pic tomorrow if it's still something that you are looking for.

  6. I guess that I am screwed in the respects then (another plug for how bad Tweeters are for installs), they did not give me the antenna that came with the D2. I take it the antenna is bolted on from the underneath. Is there any way to check the antenna and cable with a multimeter before I go ripping the antenna off? I would there there should be some ohm range ir such that it should be reading at the module end of the cable to give me some idea if what is the cause.

  7. Thanks for the info. Yeah the xm traffic stops at the triangle exit. That I was aware of. The issues where I ran into the problems most often were in Dale City and Woodbridge. Of the year that I had the TRaffic svc it only helped me out of a jamb a few times. It sounds like you know that part of the corridor fairly well so you understand that is a fairly low number for the area. Thanks for the reply though. Now if I cold only get my XM working again. Any ideas http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=

  8. OK, I have searched the forums until I can't see straight and have been unable to find anything to point me in the right direction so here is my saga... I cancelled my XM-navtraffic account but kept the XM and about 1 month later I pulled my D1 (now D2) out to do the brake bypass and in the process found one nasty mess of wires and connectors ( I let tweeter install everything, big mistake) after cleaning up the rats nest and putting everything back together, the next morning I was on my way to work and noticed that I had no XM (I didn't think to check it that night). I have a 72 mile round trip and found that I had a very intermittent XM reception where I used to have rock solid signal I am now getting no signal more often than music. I thought that It might be due to the break bypass. It's now about 3 months later and I have finally gotten around to messing with the XM. I yanked every thing out and chased the XM ant wire. Found that it had been kinked somehow. I didn't mess with the area that it was kinked when doing the by pass. Great... I straightned out the wire and made sure that it wasn't pinched/kinked when placing everything back. No help I still have no reception. I figured that since this all occured at the same time that I bypassed the brake maybe that was the problem. I undid the bypass and still nothing. I have the GEX-P10XMT installed in a 2005 Chevy Silverado and it appears that they have it connected to the factory XM antenna and it worked great for the first year. I did see one note on here that the glove box would need to be pulled to hook up to the factory antenna. My wire runs all the way up to the antenna on the roof itself. Is this incorrect? Has anyone ever experienced this problem after bypassing the break? How do I check to see if the Antenna or the XM unit is bad? Are the Antenna wire connections standard or do I need to purchase a replacement from Pioneer? This is really puzzling me. Thanks in advance.

I have done a reset on the D2 as well as the GEX-P10XMT several times. I have had refresh signal after refresh signal sent to the truck from XM and still no help.

  9. I may be wrong but I don't think the DVD changer can read DL discs. I actually don't have either right now. The cost is going to be about the same... to buy and Ipod and interface or get the DVD changer. I am not liking what I am seeing about the Ipod interface. I want the same funtionality with the touch screen that I have with the onboard CD player and from what I am seeing I am not going to get that with the Ipod set up. pls some one correct me if I am wrong. I have posted elsewhere on here about the new USB module and what a piece of GARBAGE it is. I don't want to make the same mistake again.
  10. It might work for you folks in MD but driving into Falls Church From Stafford VA every day, it left me sitting in grid lock more than it got me out of it. I actually called to complain to XM one time while I had been sitting on I95 for 20 mins and they said that there was no indication of congestion... I cancelled my subscription the next day.

  11. Actually yes I did check the compat listing and yes the d2 is listed.I even went so far as to D/L the owners manual before ordering but as I stated in the opener you don't fully understand what you are getting until you have it powered up in front of you.

  12. :evil::evil::evil:

Well, I think that I am going to be the first to do a report on this piece of garbage that pioneer is putting out for USB.

First let me give serious accolades to Crutchfield. The Sales rep was phenomenal and I had the unit ordered and on my front doorstep in less than 24 hours with standard UPS ground shipping. I do only live about 150 miles away from the warehouse but that’s another issue.

Anyway, I received the unit and was impressed that it had everything I needed to hook it up to my AVIC-D2. I already had the XM/NAV unit installed and swapped them out just for general testing purposes. This is where it begins to go downhill.

Since there are no screen shots or decent product literature on Pioneers website I was expecting to be able to hook this up with my nifty 160gb Passport HD from Western Digital and have the same screen displays as I do with a normal MP3 CD. Man was I wrong. It wasn’t until I actually had the unit installed and powered up that I was able to realize what a piece of crap this thing is. I will list my objections for ease of use:

    1) There is no file list. Only a half empty screen with up/dn left/right arrows for directional control. There is a section of buttons numbered from 1 – 6 which are not used on the D2.

    2) One has to memorize the folder number for every album and the track number for every song in the folder to be able to navigate the drive. The reason for this, is that the only on-screen display you have for title recognition is the first 8 characters of any given title (this includes folder, album, and track and that means only 8 characters. not 8 for the album and 8 for the title. To cycle thru the folders one has to use the multi-function knob or the up/dn arrows to go from 1 folder to the next, there is no jumping back to the root folder to select another album (again there is no display to let you know where you are or where you can go.

    3) If you intend to hook up an external HD to this thing, don’t; the drive won’t last. There is no soft power down via the head unit. Even turning off the ignition results in an abrupt power removal from anything connected to this waste of money. If the drive is in a read mode it will crash the drive.

    4) If you like to put a mixed CD of MP3’s into a player that only has play and stop. Or if you just like to be surprised at what song/album is next in line then this is the unit for you because that is all that you are going to get.

    5) When they state limited use they are not exaggerating. As I stated before, I was expecting something similar to the CD display but this is about the farthest that you can get from that.

    6) The owners manual had mentioned function buttons… Well they exist and it took me about 20 minutes to figure where they are and what they do. They are on the same menu as the setup and audio configuration you get when pressing the multi-function button in and they are labeled Function 1, Function 2 and so on. No indicator of what they do. Quite simply Function 1 is your pause button ( they couldn’t put this on the main display where your non-existent controls are?) , Function 2 is what the 8 characters are going to display, i.e. Folder/Track. Function 3 is scan on or off and Function 4 is what you want to repeat, (track, folder, all).

For the 20 minutes that I actually used this piece of S*&$T, It was frustrating, infuriating, and down right disappointing. You would think that with what Pioneer charges for these head units they could come up with something else that was actually worth our hard earned money. Needless to say I will be calling Crutchfield back in the AM to get a refund. Thank God for their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will be more than happy to steer everyone away from this unit.

BTW… I have an AVIC-D1 that was recently upgraded to the D2 for this sole purpose (it sure was not for the updated maps).

I am sure that there a other questions that I could place the answer to here but at the moment I am so pissed off that I am forgetting a lot that needs to be covered. Again... Pls feel free to askany questions.[/b]

  13. I was wonding if anyone has run into this problem? I disconnected the Data cable from the Nav-traffic module to get rid of the xm updating issue until my 1.2 disc arrived and since I had to pull the whole dash apart (didn't know where tweeter installed the module) I figured I would go ahead and do the E-brake by-pass so I would have full functionality of the head unit.

Once I got everything back together my updating message was gone but but I also have had intermittent XM recption ever since. I have since reconnected the data cable, and upgraded to the 1.2 and still have very poor xm reception. Was this due to the by-pass. I have performed a reset on the xm module as well as the head unit and also upgraded to the d2 (last night). Still the same issue with the XM.

I am very reluctant to pull the head unit back out and undo the e-brak mod as the rats nest of wiring they left behind wsa a royal nightmare. Has anyone else experienced or am I just stuck with pulling the thing out and tracing the wires or go back to pre mod?

PS... I learned the hard expensive way not to let Tweeter install anything in my vehicle.
