  1. Thanks for the reply. I definitely like what I see with the X940BT. There are some car-specific things I need to work out first, but as long as modding the head unit either via the wiring or something in the software to bypass the handbrake requirement is possible, I may be sold on it
  2. Avic411'ers... Im back in the market for a good touchscreen nav and again the AVIC series catches my eye. I used to have a AVIC-F700BT that I had modded a bit and loved it. Unfortunately I had to sell it with the car it was installed in. Im into a new car and have the itch to get another AVIC, but its been years since I've done any research and don't know where to start. The X series in particular caught my eye, hence why Im posting here. Hopefully some of you can help with my quest to find a good nav for my car. Some info to go off of: - Car the radio will be installed into:
  3. I guess I could given that anything is better than nothing, I just want to get my radio back for the hour-long drives back home every other weekend. If those instructions are sound and there's a minimal possibility for major failure, Ill go for it tomorrow.
  4. I dont know what everyone's issue is... but apparently I dont have it. Ive had my iPhone 3GS since August of 2009 (that was before iOS 4.0) and have been using it with my AVIC-F700BT without any issues. Granted every time I plug it in to the head unit, it says "Device is not optimized for this product" or whatever, but other than that it works flawlessly. All iPod controls work, I can watch videos, etc. Every once in a while I'd have trouble getting it to charge, but I contribute that to the awkward angle the iPod cable connects to the iPhone at when its sitting in the cradle I have in my
  5. Okay, maybe this has been answered in detail somewhere. If it has, I apologize. Ive been furiously googling, searching here, clicking, etc for the last 2 days trying to figure out what's wrong with my F700BT. In any case, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain how to reload my F700BT with the 2.006 software. My Avic took a dump the other day, starting with the LEDs not lighting up, then the unit going blank after attempting to reboot. I did a reset, and then attempted installing 2.008, but nothing has really worked. Now the unit is stuck in the boot screen and will "reboot"
  6. I would like to preface this post by saying I have and still am searching on my own trying to find a suitable solution to this issue. I apologize if there's something I have missed in my searching. In any case, here's the problem This morning when I went out for a drive, everything was working fine with my F700BT as it has for over a year of ownership. Got back in the car after making a stop, noticed the red LEDs for the buttons aren't on the screen is really dim. I adjust the brightness, but was confused why the lights weren't on. Made another stop a little while later and noticed th
