This will include instructions on how to upgrade your Z1 using the image as well as links to newsgroups how (I'll need your help on this part). Ok, I installed the Z2 image on my Z1 with great success. Everything is bypassed using the 2-wire bypass. So far I have 400+ miles from a trip I took yesterday and everything is still bypassed. When I installed the drive, it took a few moments for "system updates" then everything came online. The version now reads 2.000 and I verified the maps were updated. By the end of today, I will have over 600 miles with the new image. Assuming everything stays bypassed, I will do a level-4 reset, remove the drive and create a Bypassed Z2 image. Ok, I have the image and I'm testing it out now. Once bypassed, I'll make a new image and I should have something available tonight. Is there anyone out there that can help host? I don't use any Bittorrent software and I heard there are free sites that will host. It's a 7.4Gb file or I can break it up using winrar.

Great news!! A member of the forum is making an image of his Z2 to share with us! He wishes to stay anonymous but assured me the image is from his new Z2. In fact, he's in the process of unlocking and imaging the drive right now so it will be stock since he hasn't changed any settings yet. The Z2 has a June manufaturing date so we can't be sure if it was already bypassed. Ok, so we'll keep the thread going and see if anyone out there has a Z2 image they wish to share with the community!

After discussing this with the image owner, he meant it only for R&D for the Z2 bypass and in no way does he want it shared. SO, we'll move on and keep trying.

Good to know there is no personal info on the image, and I've sent a PM to the owner to discuss this with him. Also, I'm still going to make the image bypassable, confirm it works, do a level 4 reset, copy the image back to my PC and go from there. This way we aren't sharing the original owner's image and the blame goes on me if there are any legal issues. Regardless, if he doesn't want his image shared, I will respect that and not share anything since this started with his image.

In no way do I want to do the wrong thing here. I know where the original image came from and will do the following prior to providing to anyone: 1. Check with the owner to ensure they are ok with me sharing it. 2. Ensure the image is completely stock with no personal data. Once I comfirm the image works, I will do a level 4 reset, copy the image back to my PC, and provide that image and that image only so no personal info is included. Again, this all depends on the original owner and whether they are ok with me providing this image to others.

I orderd my Z1 from them and have no complaints. It was a bundle with the bluetooth adapter and iPod adapter. Everything arrived brand new and undamaged. Very happy, but like was already mentioned, they are not an authorized dealer.

Per Ducatiboy's recommendation, I'm starting a thread for requests for Z1/Z2 drive images and CD ISOs. Hopefully this will alleviate all the PMs sent to Ducatiboy and Hyperite requesting such. SO, if you would like to request a drive image or CD ISO, post here. Hopefully, those willing to provide a drive image or CD ISO will respond. Here it goes: Can anyone provide an image of a Z2 drive? Thank you Ducati, and Hyper, please don't get me wrong; I respect your contributions especially with the Z2 bypass. I just didn't want to see this thread get squashed.

I disagree. Your only goal was to provide a bypass for the Z2, but our goal is to upgrade the Z1 without providing another $250 to Pioneer for a system we have all already spent a lot of money on. If you don't want to provide your image, I completely understand that, but this is something we are trying to pursue and I understand the legal aspect of it. If Ducati decides this is something we should not continue on the forums, that's his call and I will honor that as well.

Disks ARE available. In fact, you can get the upgrade disk here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783 Problem is, you can't use the disk without a unique media code and unit S/N. Each disk can only be used once with a Z1 untill someone figures out a key gen.

Hmmm, that is disappointing. From reading around I thought this was pretty basic. If you can't get it to work, there's no way I can. I remember a number of folks swapping drives but I can't recall who took a Z1 drive and loaded a Z2 image. I know many people were successful with loading a Z1 image onto a Z2 drive. Hopefully you can find the secret Ducati...

I'm trying to do the same thing. I have a Z1 and I want to unlock the drive and place a Z2 image on it. Doesn't matter if it's a bypassed image or not because, thanks to hyper, we can bypass any Z2 now. I know there isn't much change from the Z1 to a Z2 but the maps in my area are very outdated. After spending $2K for this system I don't want to spend another $250 just to get updated maps. All I need now is a good Z2 image...
