  1. I don't beleive they make a kit for the rx350 so one would have to be fabricated. The other issue is odds are pretty good the vehicle will have a factory amp which may have to be bypassed if an integration harness is not availible. just some things to think about.

Actually they do make a double din kit for the Lexus RX350. It is actually for the JDM Toyota Harrier which is the equivelent vehicle to the RX350 in Japan. Now where to find one is the question since it is a Toyota of Japan part. Someone that has installed an aftermarket double din radio in an RX that was on a Lexus owner's website said he found one on Ebay. Probably don't come up very often I bet.

  2. I was wondering if the D3 can be installed in a 2007-2009 Lexus RX350. I have one installed in my Toyota Matrix. I saw this post of someone that installed a Z1 in a Lexus RX330 (similar model) and it looks good. It seems to have the same spacers to the right and left of the radio like I am using in my Matrix.

The factory nav is $2000 and Lexus has it locked so you cannot use the nav while driving. I may also consider buying a late model used RX350 and the ones I have been seeing do not have nav. I figure that if the D3 will fit that would save me money. Thanks for your help.

  3. I have been thinking about purchasing a used 2007 Lincoln MKX. This vehicle has a factory navigation with Sirius. I already own a D3 with the XM tuner and love it. I was wondering if any of the installers here knows if the D3 can be installed in the MKX without too much difficulty. Are any installation kits available?

  4. Well I replaced the 920XM tuner as Pioneer suggested with a new unit and today it started again. When I lose the signal because I am not in the clear and then come back in the clear the D3 shows a good signal with channel number and everything but there is no audio. This time I pulled over and left the car running. I turn off the radio for a minute or two then back on and still no XM audio. Of course when I turn the ignition off then on everything was fine.

It definiately has something to do with switched 12 volts and the only thing that is getting that is the D3. The 920 only receives constant 12 volt for the presets.

I did not replace the cables or antenna yet but I didn't thing that was necessary since I get a good signal most of the time except when I go under an overpass, bridge or large trees.

It can't be the 920XM. Two of them have done this now. The only thing left is the D3 (unless the tuner cables are bad). Any suggestions?

  5. Yes, that is exactly what happens to me. I have to turn off the car to get the 920XM tuner to reset. I called Pioneer tech support and they said that they never heard of that problem and suggested that I return the unit to the retailer since it was less than 30 days old. I have another one coming. If this does it too then Pioneer has a problem with their XM tuners.

  6. Something isn't right with XM and the D3. It just happened again. I just drove up to the front door of a hotel to drop someone off and there was a roof covering the entrance I lost the XM signal which didn't surprise me but then when I drive away the signal came back and the display showed the channel, song title and artist but no audio at all. I then turned off the D3 and turned it back on but still no audio. The only way to get it back is to turn off the car. There is definately something wrong here. I don't know if it's the D3 or the 920 XM tuner. I have no problem with the audio from AM, FM or CD. What do you think is going wrong?

  7. I recently installed my D3 and have had this problem occur twice. It seems that when listening to XM the audio will break up kind of like when the signal is fading in and out then no audio at all. The display is fine. It shows the change, logo, song and artist just no audio. During this time I can change to FM or CD and they have audio.

What I did both times was to stop and turn the car off then back on and everything was fine. What I didn't do was to turn off the radio then power it back on without turning off the car. Will do that the next time. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks.

  8. What is the screen on the D3 suppose to look like when the unit is off? I see the clock up in the top left corner but the rest of the screen is not black. It is more like dark gray with some horizontal white lines running through it. Is this normal? Is there a contrast or other control to make the screen all black?

  9. I just finished installing a D3 in my Toyota Matrix. Everything went well including the bypass. I also installed XM. The Nav, FM and XM works well. However, I have no AM reception at all. I made sure the vehicle's antenna lead was securely plugged in. FM works well but not AM. The antenna is roof mounted. I did not connect the blue wire on the D3 harness. Does this need to be connected? I thought it was for a power antenna. Any suggestions on what to check?

  10. Ok, I found out from Metra that Toyota does not have an illumination wire in their radio harness, only a dimmer. They said that I would have to find the parking light wire to connect to the illumination wire on the D3. Is using the illumination wire necessary?

  11. I recently purchased the D3 to install it in my Toyota Matrix. I also bought the Metra harness. The D3 harness has an orange wire marked 'Ill' for illumination. The Metra harness has an orange/black wire marked as 'dimmer'. There is no illumination wire on the Metra harness. Am I to assume that the D3 illumination wire gets connected to the Metra dimmer wire?

  13. I own a 2005 Toyota Matrix and am interested in getting the D3. Crutchfield's website said that it will not fit my car. My car has the double din radio. When I change the car to a 2004model year it says that the D3 will fit that one. Both years are identical. Any other site that I can check to see if the D3 will fit my car?
