  1. I appreciate the diagram; I installed a U220 with an existing 3200BT. What I don't understand is the connector(?) with the numbers on it. You show the PAC unit and the AVH harness wire colors, but I don't understand the block in the upper left with the black, green, and red wires.

Is this a relay? If so would that already be in the installation, or would I need to purchase one. If I need to purchase, is there a model or part number you recommend?

Yes that's a relay. The one shown is a 5 pin relay but you can use a 4 pin relay as well. Basically the same except that there is no 87a. You can buy them from all sorts of places. It's a pretty standard relay. Don't need to worry about how many amps it will handle because you will be using it to ground.

I believe you can also buy this relay from DEI with a timer circuit built in. This would mean that you wouldn't use the PAC.

  2. I have the black wire connected to the ground of the unit harness and wire harness. The connections on the relay are on 87 and 85. The blue wire is connected on blue/white wire on the wire harness and is connected to the relay on 86. The parking break wire is connected to the relay on 30

There might be a diode in your relay. If that's the case try to connect the blue/white wire to 85 and ground 87/86. Use a ohmmeter and verify that the relay turns on and 87/30 is then connected.

  3. Created a AVIC411 account just to say THANKS!!!! I tested everything before I ziptied all my cables and made it look neat and the unit worked. Right after I cleaned it all up and was about the slide the head unit in, no power :( Tore apart everything, tested voltages, continuity, even used a power supply to power the unit. Nothing... then read this and voila, it turns on again. 5 hours wasted so far, now to clean it all up again. At least I was able to save wasting another day. Thanks so much. I really mean it.
