Can anyone send me the Z2 LOCK UP & FREEZING CD. I called the pioneer customer service and its a 3 week wait. And I tried Downloading the files from the website but it doesnt work. So can someone just send me the CD
Instead of sending you a disc, I can try to make it easy for you.
Put a blank CD in your D drive and run THIS.
It'll burn the update disc automatically. Once complete, put the disc in your Z2 and go to the map screen.
(if your burner is not D, tell me the letter and I'll recompile)
I cant figure out what I doing wrong.
I download your .exe file to my desktop, insert a blank cd, and click on the .exe
it says its "destination file" is my desktop and suddenly the .iso file shows up in my desktop
Edit: I checked and my hard drive (desktop) is on C:
my burner is d:

so what do yall think??
I have the Z2, and I dunno which camera to get. I see a whole bunch of different ones on E-bay.
what should I look for??
where should I mount it??
BTW, I have a ford F-350 truck, if that makes a difference for how to mount it.
-
I am using a CD-RW, could that be the problem??
It should work. What program are you using to burn? Try using a standard CD-R. I've noticed these units are fickle as to the make of CD. Also, reconfirm your burn settings.
I am using MagicIso
I am starting to think its the cd-rw
I tried to burn just some picture files onto it using windows, and it is giving me an error.
its the only disk I could find round the house, the rest are in my desk at work.
guess it will have to wait till tomorrow
-
man am I frustrated
I am following the instructions above to a T, but when I insert the disk into my Z2 it says "unreadable disk"
I am using a CD-RW, could that be the problem??
when I put the cd-rw back into my cpu, the folder it opens shows to be blank........

check your position/tilt mount setting in the unit.
if the unit thinks its mounted at an angle to the road its on, when it is actually mounted straight on, it will throw off the GPS
-
disconnect everything, reconnect it with the correct 2-wire bypass,
and go to pioneers update website to download the new update for the Z2 and install it.

I bought a cheap factory radio off e-bay, for my super duty, took the face off, glued the buttons back in it, and trimmed the edges to make it slide over the face of my Z2.
Now when I park anywhere but my own garage, I slip that puppy over it, and from a window it looks like I dont even have a tape player
-
My 755P paired perfectly with my Z2 on the first try, even pushed all my contacts on the first try.
-
I wonder if they will block the bypass again with the new unit?

Shouldnt have any problems at all receiving the satellite signal mixing and matching the antennas. But say you were in Midtown Manhattan with all the skyscrapers, thats when you wouldnt be able to receive much of a signal from the sats, and you cant receive terrestrial repeater signals with a SIRI antenna
sirius has terr repeaters as well that are received through their antennas.
why wouldnt it pick up the xm terrestial just the same?
-
I believe this is caused by the installer not properly hooking up your VSS wire.
does your vehicle dynamics displays work?

I have driven about 400 miles since I did the bypass update, already did the 2 wire bypass on my Z2 at install in anticipation. I have had no problems at all, unit has stayed fully bypassed the whole time.
I will be doing almost 400 miles this afternoon, and I can promise you I will have no problems.
everyone, check your wires on your two wire bypass.
make sure they are grounded directly to metal, not a screw that goes through plastic first.
and I would think the parking break toggle switch is pretty much useless, might as well take it out. my opinion would be that it could only be one more spot to cause a loose connection.
-
i did the update, reset my unit and everything worked great. no more parking break message and i could use all the functions. about a day later the parking break message came up and it doesnt work. if i reset the unit it will work again for a little then the same thing. has anyone else had this problem? does this mean my bypass isnt hooked up properly?
thanks
Ok, you said you did the update and you reset your unit. First, is your unit a z2? Second, did you do the two wire bypass as well? If you did the two wire bypass yourself, did you make 100% sure that the wire you moved AND the connector were BOTH seated firmly and securely? That would be where I would look. The ONLY reason this bypass shouldnt work is if the ground is not applied. The software itself, if burned correctly, works perfectly.
The thing that puzzles me is that whenever it goes out i reset the unit and then it is bypassed again for a while. would this just be a loose wire?
I am thinking your unit may not have gotten the update correctly.
sometimes on a stock unit, it takes it a while to catch that the vehicle is moving and the parking break is set, thus giving the error.
try putting your update disk in again, and see what the unit says.

dayumit, there is that Nero word again.
I guess I gotta decide if its worth the $80 to me to be able to make my own music video DVD's.
-
so how do you go about saving and burning the video's on stage 6??
I am a cd/dvd burning idiot, does the divx format get recognized as a video on the z2?
-
Why don't you just look at the instructions? It tells you what is supposed to be there
exactly, the first few pages of the instructions has everything listed (with pictures I believe.
first thing, just unpack the box and check each item off.

I finally got it to work.
First try, using windows burning software, no worky
second try, using CDBurnerXPpro, no worky
tried a couple of different variations in that program, no worky
tried to re-download Nero to start the free trial over again, they are smarter than I, so no worky.
finally, I downloaded the free trial of Alcohol120%, and first burn, I drop in the disk, and the upload starts.
now I just gotta find an excuse to take a long lunch so I can play.

I'm having trouble, I think i may be CD burning retarded.
I downloaded the file titled "Z2Bypassupdate.iso"
loaded a blank CD in my drive, told windows to burn it,
took the CD out to the truck, put it in,
Z2 says "CD-Rom inserted"
I press Map, and it goes to the map.
nothing about an update.
so I think maybe its the windows burning program.
unfortunately my Nero free trial ran out,
so I downloaded CDBurnerXP Pro, and burned it to a disk with that.
still get the same results.
I tried a third time, this time telling it to "close" the CD,
still get the exact same results on the Z2.
anybody have any ideas where I am going wrong?
-
ok, so I am going to be doing this tommorow.
one question,
I already have my 2 wires hooked grounded on my Z2, should I worry that doing the update with them grounded could screw something somehow?
or am I just thinking too much?
-
Pink Tooth maybe?
-
cool, thanks, I will give the antenna a shot.
is it a standard XM antenna, or is it special due to the navtraffic?

I finally got it to work.
only thing I think I might have been doing wrong, would be not waiting long enough for the computer to recognize it had a blank disk in it before I started the .exe file.
