  1. I searched the forums and couldn't find anything specifically addressing this question. Does the D3 have a manual detour function like TomTom or Garmin has? If it does, I can’t seem to find it. It offers to detour with the XM Traffic feature but that doesn’t help me in a situation I encountered yesterday. They had a road closed for construction that didn’t show up in the XM Traffic. It wasn’t an area I was very familiar with but from what I could tell I just need to bypass about 2 or 3 miles of road. With TomTom this would have been a piece of cake. With the Pioneer it was a frust
  2. Yes. PM me for details.
  3. No, I am not though I do go there a lot.
  4. coocho - Did you mean "tint" or "tilt"?
  5. Have any of you had any issues with the D3 in bright sunlight. I am having a hard time viewing it inside my truck even though the light isn't direct. It doesn't seem like the contrast and brightness really have much of an effect on the screen or am I missing something? I may be regretting not getting a nav with a tilt screen. Off-axis viewing while good may not be good enough for where it is located in my truck and I am a tall guy. I may try and shim it up at an angle to me.
  6. OMG, I didn't know that it wouldn't sort by distance. This is a MAJOR problem for me. What were they thinking? So no arrow or nothing to indicate where the POI is relative to your position? This makes POIs worthless on the interstate as you don't know if you are coming toward them or you would have to backtrack to get to them. Nobody had a D3 in stock to play with when I ordered. Anybody know if the Kenwood has this issue as well? I can't deal with a non QWERTY keyboard as well as no POI sort by distance. How they hell can I know which street is closer to me in a city I am not familiar wit
  7. There are so many reasons to wait for CF. Free harness and install kit, smoking deal with backup camera. I also used a discount code. Free shipping as well and no tax to my state. While I could have maybe got some of the accessories "slightly" cheaper somewhere else even after the discount, CF is a great company and a 30 day moneyback guarantee and free tech support and decent install guides. My sales guy was great and very helpful. Tracked down everything I requested. When my discount code didn't process correctly (i.e. I was charged full price for the accesories covered) they gave me a b
  8. TomTom (TT) tech support does suck. Garmins has continually fallen as well. This isn't to excuse TT's but in Europe it is better than here. Difference is I have never really needed TT's tech support whereas I have had 2 Nuvis turn into electronic bricks. DO NOT use the online updated IF you have a Garmin Nuvi. If something affects your update the Garmin will likely not recover. After the first one I learned my lesson. I then backed up my Nuvi to my PC before doing the update. I then downloaded all the files locally to my PC. When the update failed I was able to recover from my PC hard drive si
  9. I have been a long time GPS/nav user. I have also been a long time Garmin owner and I bought a pretty big chunk of their stock a few years ago. I currently have a bunch of Garmin handhelds and StreetPilots and 2 Nuvis (360 and 660). It would appear that I will likely be biased in favor of Garmin from the outset but quite honestly they need to work on their user interface (UI). It sucks! So when Kenwood touts that they use Garmin I just cringe even though it will help my investment. Garmin really needs to update their interface. They have dumbed down the UI so that you can’t do much of an
  10. I searched but the only thing I could find for an installer in Minnesota was a guy looking for one in Minneapolis a year ago with no answers. Anyone know of an installer in Minnesota, preferably in the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro area? I am thinking about buying the D3 and taking advantage of the CF deal but before I leap I want to see what options I have locally for an install. I may do it myself if I have time but I have a pretty busy work and family schedule. Thanks!
